We are beginner van lifers who started out just a few months ago with a customized Promaster City van that we affectionately named “Baby Shark”. We quickly racked up 25,000 cross country miles, and got hooked on van life. The ability to stand and stretch out was not only a challenge, but an impossibilty. The comforts of a hot shower was also a factor as we decided to bid our beloved “Baby Shark” a fond “adieu.” We began our journey to improve our van life experience. Meet “Al”, named after Al on the “Fear of the Walking Dead”, our 2022 Thor Scope 18M. It checks all of the boxes. Larger, but can easily be parked in a regular parking space, and easy to drive. Most of all, WE CAN STAND UP!

Nice rig! Congrats!
I really like the Scope, especially the new 18G floor plan for 2023. I often travel solo so this size seems very convenient. Do you find the 1500 Promaster does alright in mountains? We are mostly traveling on the East coast. Camp on ladies!
Our rig handled fine in several high elevations (Grand Tetons, Denver, and several mountain passes). The RPMs were high at times but it was no problem. It may have something to do with the Ram transmission because we found the same thing happened in our smaller Promaster City van. Thanks for watching and let us know how your travels go 😀
What are the issues? Bye-bye Baby Shark 😭
We couldn't stand up or shower, at least inside of the van. We loved that van. It got us out exploring.
