I gig with my Td-9 quite often .Have done about 40 gigs with it . I use the fusion kit with vintage custom snare. A really good drumming friend of mine commented on the sound of the kit live ,he originally thought it was the best tuned acoustic kit he had heard until he realized it was elec. NOTE the wood bass kick option is ABSOULETLY THE fattest most sickest kick drum you will hear from any kind of kit period.
This guy was my math teacher in year 6 a couple of years ago who has set me up to get an A+ in maths and has pushed me in music to become as talented as I am now. Hope you see this mr lane
Josh Marshall hey up Josh! Glad you're still smashing the maths! Check out my Gone Shootin' videos of my new band- oh and my originals band The Finest Hour is releasing an EP soon! Hope you're well- enjoy your hols and I'll see you next year- I'm working back at Witham next year- don't be a stranger!!! You still playing guitar?
Great video Josh!! You provided a great overview of both the technical cabling, and the percussion end too! I can't wait to use your tips! Thanks!! Ted Palmer
This will be part of the drum map being different for your Alesis drums to the standard setting for Addictive Drums. You need to edit the drum map. Go to Edit> Map window or watch from around 3.47. Hit a pad (ie hihat) and it will make the wrong sound. Using the keyboard drag the hihat to the key labelled hihat that way the midi input is corresponding with the note AD is wanting to use. Hope that helps!
Thanks man, good video.. I have ordered my midi cable of ebay and i'm trying to get a copy of addictive drums as we speak, looking forward to trying to map out my roland td-4
I've never had addictive drums cancel out any other music system. I regularly play music through iTunes whilst running addictive drums to play along just as you mention.
Did you get a cable and have a play - unfortunately I don't have an explorer kit so can't try it for you. A bit bizarre in my opinion only to have one midi connection though - unless of course it is the only one you need!
My drum brain has 1 midi out socket. I got a usb to midi in and midi out cable. Do I now need to get a midi cable with midi in on one side and midi in and midi out on the other ? Thanks for your help !
How do you configure a Roland TD-1KPX2 V-Drum hihat to open and close properly in addictive drums? When I use the roland module the hihat sounds perfect as it should, but when I usb midi out from the roland drum module to reaper / addictive drums the hihat sounds mostly half open instead of tightly closed? I would really appreciate any advice you might have to offer me on this!
I have a ROLAND td3 and I've been trying to run addictive drums on garage band with it. It's plays the AD drum sounds, but they are all mixed up. one of my toms is a snare and the other two are cymbals. My cymbals are mixed up too. When I don't use the AD plug-in, and play them with the garage band drum kit they work fine. HOW DO I FIX THIS?!!?
Hi Josh. I'm able to assign the sounds I want to the various pads no problem. For example I can put the snare sound onto the kick drum and then restore it back to the kick drum sound, So I seem to be able to do it. But when I try to do it for the various high hat postions nothing works. I'd be really really grateful if you could show how to do the high hat, if you have time.
Thanks for this video, It was very helpfull ! I still have one question. Addicative Drums disables all my other sound/music from my PC. Do you know a way to help/avoid this? Because I really like drumming with my favorite songs. Cheers!
GarageBand is packaged as standard with all Mac computers. What I mean by not standalone is that you need some music software (Logic etc.) to run AD within.
hi mate, just a quick one, at 3:23 you are pointing with the mouse cursor on the key map settings... well.. i can't see any of this in my AD ver 1.0.0 - is it because it's older version than yours? or is this in a differend place somewhere? i can't find those options and this is annoying because everything is messed up - i need to re-map all cymbals and toms, please help, thanks! all the best! Peter
do you still use the headphones on the dtx prelorere or from your computer? is the sound supposed to come back? Also it is not registering all the hits any idea why? if i hit snare fast 4 times it only plays the first hit. Help. Mac pro 8 gig ram
Can you help me how to set up my Roland TD11 to trigger Addictive Drums, I've been struggling on this a months now.. a step by step would be appreciated. I have a windows laptop and pc (both for gaming with ASIO) which host can I use and how. Thank you so much in advance.
Messing about when i hit the pads it registers in AD BUT if i strike really fast it only registers 1 hit and not the others, is this a setting somewhere? my mac is well fast enough. 8 gig mac pro Plus.+ Once this is all set up do you listen through headphone on the DTXpress or your computer? is it supposed to send the information back to the brain? Any help very very appreciated I must admit im lost in regards the settings on the dtxpress, can you help?
Bro can you help me map my dm6 hi hats,it only gives me either close or open regardles whether i step on the hh pedals or no,where can i find the dynamic settings.I hope u can help me.newbie here
Hey man would it be possible to use this while playing live in a concert? So my laptop is connected to my e-drum through midi which is using the AD sounds, then plugging my laptop to my mixer so while playing the drums the speakers produce the sounds from the program? Sorry I made it hard to understand.
Josh I have a question if I hit my snare with the stick I only seem to be getting the top of the snare sound not the full sound of the snare if that makes sense but if I click it with a mouse on the screen it gives me a fuller sound any ideas it's really frustrating
Ian Macrae how many zones has your snare or the software got setup? It sounds like it is triggering the outer pad rather than the centre of the snare for say a 3 zone snare that has rim, centre and outer elements to it. It could also be a sensitivity issue. The mouse click might be as if you’ve hit it a full force whilst your kit might not be sending the full signal to the software.
@@citymariner thanks so much josh will take a further look in to it tomorrow what your saying completely makes sense now I think it's a velocity thing and I was triggering the outer edge slightly I recently changed to ez drummer using there metal machine kit
Ian Macrae I don’t know what made check on this little video I did. I do however feel rather guilty I’ve quite a few people I haven’t replied to. I’ve now got a Roland TD25k and use superior drummer 3. It doesn’t require half this effort!
Td25k is a lovely peace of kit and Superior drummer does look a badass peace of software I'm definitely going to be checking it out at some point it's something I need to get my hands on as drum software goes how are you finding it so far 👍🏻👍🏻
i have kind a generic portable e drums with 8 pads. the cymbals pads have a mute function, when i press the board it stops the sound of cymbal, but through midi it does not working. what do you think i shoul do? sorry for my poor english
Good day Josh Is it possible for the alesis dm6 to connect in my laptop with an ordinary usb cable? because there is no midi slot in dm6 module, only usb slot, I have a cubase 5 and addictive drums but when i connect the dm6 to my laptop and trying to configure with addictive drums nothings happens can you help me please? thanks
I have a TD 11 kv.. I used addictive drums two but I've loaded in the software thru a usb connecting laptop and drums. Pls Tel me how to reduce latency
All your kit is doing is providing a real life trigger for the pad so this should be do able. Have a play as with all technology, you can always reset it if it goes wrong and start from scratch again!
Which number are you talking about? Is it the brain or the AD software. I put the brain into the menu where I can see the midi channel when I hit the pads. Then I enter into addictive drums and find what midi channel is associated with a sound. I then hit the pad I want that sound to be triggered by and make sure that brain matches the channel in addictive drums. Double check by tapping the pad.

Thanks, really useful video, especially for someone new to AD2!
I appreciate the feedback - video was obviously done a long time ago now so it is great to see it is still useful to some! Good luck with it all!
@@citymariner are you interested in giving one to one tutorials on using AD2 with eDrums ( by Zoom or whatever platform)?

Finally I found a solution for my problem :) Thanks Mate !

Hi, great helpful video, can you tell me where you are changing the dynamic setting exactly??
im playing a dd-502 kit and it has midi out on brain, i should be able to use that with addictive drums and pro tools eh?
Dude you did not show how to change the number in the crimson module.
Thank you very much! 😎🤘

hi... great video, but what is the better module for adictive drums? roland td 9 or roland td 11,I can buy this module for the same price! thank you
thank you for making this vid :D how much was addictive drums software???
My drum brain has 1 midi out socket. I got a usb to midi in and midi out cable. Do I now need to get a midi cable with midi in on one side and midi in and midi out on the other ? Thanks for your help !
does addictive drums come with garageband or do you have to buy it separately.

Can we map the flex samples in addictive drums for kick to an spd sx to trigger real kickdrum during live performance? Great video :D
Thanks for explaining - well done

Jason Longbrake I’ve noticed that’s the case with superior drummer 3 now.

How did you change from EZ to dynamic mode? Is that on the TD-9 brain or addictive drums?

just straight into the computer. no audio interface??
I have a TD 11 kv.. I used addictive drums two but I've loaded in the software thru a usb connecting laptop and drums.

assio4all download
I cannot find any info for kits with midi out only. How do you connect them to a laptop?
1.30 how do you set up the dtxpress iii where is that menu?
Whoa, thank you my friend!
Do the preset e-drums include Updated rolands?
It is standalone I'm using it now in standalone ??
Yes you can use it standalone. I don’t think you could though when I first got the software.
hi. wich version of AD are you using? thanks!
That's what I thought hence the video! Thanks for watching!
wheres the dynamic setting? is it in the daw or in addictive drums?
On the drum brain itself.
Will it work with soundtrack pro?
Not standalone?
Where do I get GarageBand?
Did you get an answer to this?
How do I reduce latency
Will this work with a pc?
Do you know of any software for windows?

AAAH thank you! :)
you never showed HOW to change the number in addictiv drums, you just said change the number. I dont know where to do that

So you change your yamaha drum kits midi note to match the addictive drums note?
dude you say oh this is what you have to do to get this sound and you don't show how to do it on the software..WTF!!
Do I need a computer with a disk drive?
Td9 v td11 is irrelevant really as all the module is doing is triggering, via midi, a sound through addictive drums.
My left ear got raped :(
