This was def Peak NZ, late 90s/early 00s. Rolling up & down Queen St, lining up for drags on Quay Street before they had to move out east/south, wild times.

I started driving when I was 12 as it wasn't a criminal offence to drive if you had never held a licence only if you was disqualified so I'd just pay the fine which was the same as about 12mths rego for a 6cyl vehicle

Totally! The old days - mid 90's, out on Airpark Drive at the airport, backroads of Clevedon and Whitford. Eagle heli hovering above the 400 cars in the drag train. Lorolla and OnAcid, two sick as DX Corollas. Amazing times. Clocked 215km in a mate's 1986 supercharged trueno on Ti Irirangi Drive, recorded on an imported radar.

Man who would have though removing vehicle through fare traffic from queen street would take its toll on car culture so drastically. Turning it into all over auckland intersection and cudersack bashing . BRING BACK QUEEN STREET
They mislabeled it, assuming its an ep71 non turbo with most of the turbo S bodykit on it plus paint then it would actually still be fairly common(minus the kit) and would explain the 5k she spent not including the cost of car. Definitely not an ep82 gt turbo but there is always the possibility its even rarer than that and a genuine turbo S without the bonnet, but then the 5k minus cost of car doesnt make much sense as she said she spent all the money on looks.
