I have lived in Florida since 1968 REPORTERS mess up everything when hurricanes come. You should always shelter in place UNLESS you have disability issues, medical issues, flood areas, or shelter that will not hold up to expected winds, or storm surges. You should have arranged months ahead where you will go, make a list, and keep it filled year-round with what you need for a hurricane, IE out of power. Get your water at the beginning of hurricane season, use it up after, and keep your generator if you have one in shape. that's it.
*HURRICANE LANDING 101: I've lived on the South Texas Coast on the Gulf of Mexico my whole life. Everyone knows a hurricane can shift dramatically within the last day to the last few hours.*

Their rates are fair? I have to disagree, since gulf power got bought out a year ago, FPL has graced us with 3 rate hikes. I have heard great things about how quick they were to get power back, but not so much about the rates.
@@ffntraining9383 If you think FPL rates are high, you should try Michigan and Wisconsin. I've lived in those two states. It is easy to look up utility rates in other states, do it and let me know if you still think FPL is still expensive. As I said, my utility bill is about $50.00 a month, since I am there in the winter and I am in S. Florida I don't have to heat or use A/C. In Wi that would cost me about $75.00/month.

In Naples, we have electric resistance coils built into the A/C unit, since we never have to heat it doesn't make any difference. I do turn it on once over the winter to burn the dust off the coils otherwise the smoke detectors would go off. I usually try and choose a cool day to do it We are on the ground floor and have people on each side of us, so we only have two exterior walls. As a life long Florida resident, it makes me beyond angry that those liberals have the audacity to spew such disgusting rhetoric. How dare they. I've lived through many hurricanes and governor DeSantis has been more prepared, more organized on hurricane readiness than any governor in my 68 years. He had 42,000 linemen staged in Pensacola ready to move once the storm passed. When hurricane Irma came through in 2017, my power was off for 2 weeks with Rick Scott as governor. This time, only 3 days. Ron DeSantis rocks.

I watched the coverage from the beginning and Governor DeSantis said to evacuate repeatedly. If you live on a barrier island, it is up to you to make responsible decisions. It is a well known fact that hurricanes take a different tact than models are predicting at the last minute. The government is not a baby sitter.
So why did Desantis thank Biden for federal money? He will say "it's your problem" when it's hurricane Sandy, but happily take $$$ from Uncle Sam and great great grandpa Biden.
Desantis evacuated 50 immigrants for $12,300 a seat, that was nice of him, lolololololol
Just imagine if you had an electric vehicle trying to evacuate this storm. And your in bumper to bumper traffic. You would not make it out before the batteries died
Like to see them drive those electric cars through flood waters.
Depending on the vehicle you would be better off in bumper to bumper traffic. Electric cars don't burn energy just sitting, only when moving. Then in Tesla's you can go almost to the door handles in water and drive out. No exhaust to suck in water and batteries are sealed. Electric cars have their downsides, but you just sound uninformed when you speak without that knowledge.
Try riding thru water
People with Tesla solar panels still have power thanks to that.
@@donnafrflorida56 Tesla's are more capable of driving through flooded roads than conventional combustion engines. Search youtube for one of many videos. I was driving mine through flooded streets in North Port at 3am after the hurricane passed in route to check on family. Hours later, there were several regular cars that had sucked water into their intakes and were dead in water only up to their axles. Love them or hate them, Tesla's are better in floods. Their batteries and motors are sealed inside. Combustion vehicles are just as dependent on electricity as electric vehicles.
As a former Largo, FL police Dispatcher I agree that evacuation orders are the responsibility of LOCAL officials. My agency had detailed and extensive evacuation contingency plans.

Florida is blessed from God to have the backbone of DeSantis and his amazing wife!
There is That! ✌ out haters!
Where was your team? Oh, in Tampa, right? You all weren't in Lee County, don't play. The sass of this man is commendable, I have to say. 😂 I'm all for it.
They usually stay in 5 star high rise hotels 100 miles away from the action. Then they have real nice gormet dinners and talk about how much they hate Republicans and what the flavor of the left wing agenda will be for the day.
If only Hurricane Ian hit The View! We'd all be saved!!
Oh Happy Day
I don’t understand how that show isn’t done. I can’t believe people actually watch that trash.
@@annesand7157 sadly some people are actually that stupid , it's sickening 🤢🤮 and heartbreaking 💔 at the same time

Think of the brain cells that would be saved! Lol!
The surfing in Sebastian must have been epic..
The greatest governor in the history of the country
I love Emily!! She is so smart! Conservative women are the best!!
Yeah conservative women are good obedient sheeps.
🔥
Yes she's very intelligent and a beautiful young lady. Also seems to be a very fun person and loves life.
@@Nolaman70 Your comment says it all, without actually saying it. Lol
Oooh a smart woman! How novel
I am a Floridian and he did an absolutely wonderful job! He had everything in its place for after the fact! Military precision!

Florida has real problems with their transportation infrastructure. You can’t drive through the state without getting into at least half a dozen traffic jams.
Imagine a Politician who doesn't need a teleprompter to tell them what they think !
DeSantis did a very indepth job of informing Floridians how to go about flood insurance and Fema.
De Santis did announce people should EVACUATE days before the storm hit. HEARD IT MY SELF. 🤷🏻♂️
RONNIE IS ONLY GOOD AT EVACUATING IMMIGRANTS FROM TEXAS
Yes, there was warnings for Western coast line, from Keys to Panhandle, in the cone,..to prepare to evacuate, in case, had to !!
You got a love Ron DeSantis
DeSantis ❤❤❤
I wish you had played more of that interview. DeSantis' style in his takedown of that reporter was smooth and devastating
Love you Governor DeSantis! You are best for us in Florida and it shows by our freedom!! Thank you !
Florida deserves DeSantis... The Lord God Almighty is punishing Florida nothing happens without his approval. Florida, a terrible waste of a perfectly good swamp.
Spent some time in South Carolina around the time Ian hit. There were hotels mostly booked in Tennessee due to people fleeing the storm. I can't imagine even attempting a mass evacuation.
Simply put, who can take responsibility for a hurricane that has a mind of its own. Preparation!!
Trying to paint a real representative as incompetent while ignoring Brandon flirting with nuclear war.
I live in Florida and our house flooded and we lost everything. We love Desantis!! Thank goodness he had a plan for us!! We lost everything but we never suffered one minute. No one can control weather but a true leader can make sure their people suffer the least amount possible
Sorry for your loss.
Stop living by the water.

Sry for your loss but oh yes they can and do control the weather. HAARP.
I think Desantis is a good man. God Bless him and keep him and his family safe.🙏🙏
Best Gov on the planet love Desantis !!!! I live in FL last 27 years guy is amazing ….. lived in NJ for 32 years prior not so happy about the leadership there
I hope the dude runs for president. He's got my vote.
Mine too
Florida needs him more and we need him in congress
@@dwade2026 I believe he'd be a great leader for this country. He's his own man. Nobody sway him one way or the other.
@@jimmyyoung9850 no matter who's the president it's congress and the senate that run the government
@@dwade2026 I agree but the guy makes decisions and stands by them. A leader.
As someone who has lived in Florida his whole life, you don't know where these storms will make landfall until 6-12 hours in advance. Let me repeat...
YOU. DON'T. KNOW. WHERE. THE. STORM. IS. GOING. UNTIL. 6. TO. 12. HOURS. BEFOREHAND.
Sometimes less. Charlie was heading towards Tampa then suddenly swerved into Charlotte Harbor with no notice.
Plenty of time to evacuate if you want to. Not to mention all the evacuation warnings they give you prior.
The Southern Caribbean approach along the West coast is the worst case scenario because of the shape of the coastline. Just a small deviation in the path could mean Naples or Cedar Key landfall.
I totally concur, so go ahead and tell all the rest of any floridians, not to blame him or any of the other weather media's broadcast, because the fact that they are so unpredictable and can change course, as well as the predicted category, should have spoke volumes for everyone to flee to the highest ground possible for safety, I understand you hate to leave your home and valuables but shouldn't your life be worth more than material possessions?, I believe it is just awful and crazy to stay, you should know better by all the previous cat 4 and 5, they have only been getting worse and worse since Katrina. For the life of me I just can't believe that anyone would take that risk. It's unbelievable to me.
I am a native of NW FL. I've seen it happen for years. 2004 Hurricane Ivan was supposed to hit Mobile. During the night it wobbled east to the FL/AL line. We were in the worse side at high tide. It was a high 3 with gusts higher. It sent a 20' wall of water to inland Bay areas, knocking out an Interstate bridge, & blowing out walls of homes with the surge.
Just 2 years ago, Hurricane Sally, wobbled in the Gulf from LA to the east. Each state bracing up for where it would hit! Last minute with an expectation at the MS/AL line, it moved east & hit Pensacola, FL during the night. There are
always local & national watches & warnings. Governor DeSantis did an articulate, excellent job of coordinating
the awareness of this powerful Hurricane! No other Governor has put areas & then, the whole state under a state of emergency so quickly! Tku Governor DeSantis! You are the best!
That reporter came on strong. Learn how to interview and not interrogate.
I'd believe anything Emily says
