I just want to let you know that I appreciate you explaining every step so clearly. I have been crocheting since I was 5 years old from my Grandmother. She was right handed and I am left handed. We really had to figure it out on our own. I really enjoy the way you explain things. I will be 66 years old tomorrow and I am sure glad I found your web sight to learn some new techniques from you. Thank you so much, Karen
I'm a left hander but learned how to crochet right handed and I'm so used to it now that I just can't do it left handed!! Literally can't manage it!! so fair play to you!
I want to take this opportunity to echo the comments of the other people who have viewed these You Tube tutorials. I am 75 years old and I learned to crochet from a neighbor some 47 years ago. I don't have to explain to other left handed people who live in a right handed world how difficult it is to do things in crafts especially when the tools are made for right-handed people. Your instructions are clear, concise, helpful, and easy to follow. I really like the ideas where you explain the terms and demonstrate the different techniques. I am learning many things from your tutorials and I hope to put them to use as I try to ease the effects of arthritis and age. Thank you for your efforts and help. I am sold on your programs.
Thank you so much for this left handed lesson!! My grandmothers, and mom, and aunts crocheted, but I could never catch on because I was left handed. So now in my 50s and close to retirement I thought I would try again. After about 4 tries, and pausing, and slowing down your video I was able to make it work. I am now working on one huge grannie square afghan for my grandson. THANK YOU!!!
I am fairly new to crochet and loving the leftie instructions thank you so much @bellacoco. So clear and at the right speed for me and your voice is destressing and peaceful which makes for an all round relaxing exercise for me :)
I have totally lucked in finding your channel. I am actually making progress after years as a left-hander prevaricating about the fact that I just can't seem to follow right-handed instructions. Thank you!
Thank u so much for making crochet easier with ur video. I found them so much easier to follow. Because as I'm slow and got learning difficulties it's made it so much easier to learn how to left hand crochet. I love your videos 😁😁😁
this is so great!! i'm kinda new at crocheting, i taught myself the basic stitch. my 1st blanket was a mess so i didn't mind the dog taking it :) then i started to look for tutorials to help me but there wasn't any for left handed ppl or so i thought. so i gave up. i can't read the patterns yet. your group on FB is nice and caring that i was told it'd take some time to get it down. you have done a wonderful thing and it did change my life :) so i can't say thank you enough for what you have done.
Your video is amazing, clear, concise and patient 😀 I’ve started crocheting a massive granny square for the first time so thank you so much and ai only started crocheting last weekend 😀
Thank u so much for easy to follow instructions, really good tutorial 😊 I tried a couple of times on the first rows unsuccessfully, only because I couldn't get my tension right and unpicked a couple of times but eventually got to grips with it and was quite pleased with my first finished square.
just finished my second attempt after not doing fantastic my first try. the shaping is correct now just a few gaps here and there but thank you so much this is the first helpful granny square ive found. and i struggled with the loop itself until now. (can u tell im a noob?)
US PATTERN FOR LEFTIES: MAGIC RING: - ch 4, slst into first chain SQUARE: R1: ch 5 , [3 DC from center of magic ring , ch 2 (for corner)] (X3) , 2 DC (not 3 because that chain in the beginning acts as our "third double crochet") , slst into 3rd chain from the beginning 5 chains R2: ch 3 , [2 DC into corner , ch 2 , 2 DC in same corner , DC in next 3 stitches] (X3) in the last corner continue the 2DC, ch 2, and 2 DC again, 2 DC to end row, slst in 3rd chain from beginning 3 chains R3: ch 3, 2 DC in next 2 st, [2DC into corner, ch 2, 2 DC in corner, 7 DC in next 7 stitches] (X3) in the last corner continue the 2 DC, ch 2, and 2 DC again, 4 DC, slst in 3rd chain from beginning 3 chains R4: ch 3, 4 DC, [2 DC in corner, ch 2, 2 DC in corner, DC in next 11 stitches] (X3) in the last corner continue the 2 DC, ch 2, and 2 DC again, 6 DC, slst in 3rd chain from beginning 3 chains, tie off by ch 1 and cut weave in ends
Never touched a crochet hook before, bu after watching and re watching your video trying and re trying I have got it. They look like shit but a few more squares and I will be good to go. Thank you form one lefty to another. :-)
If you haven't already then I would check out my beginner's tutorial on how to work a treble crochet stitch here: ua-cam.com/video/rSUqMV_7GdU/v-deo.html :-) This is the stitch used in the granny square. I'd recommend using a premium acrylic yarn such as Stylecraft Special DK to get started as it won't split like some other yarns.
You can check that you’ve got the correct number of stitches by remembering that you’re adding four stitches per side with each round 😊 If it’s looking holey in general then I would go down a hook size as it could be down to your tension.
If you chain too many to begin you will find that you have a hole in the centre of your square. If you chain 6 you should find that big enough to be able to see properly where to work into 😊
Good, but I ended up with a triangle rather than a square. I have tried twice now and still end up with a triangle. I have a feeling it has something to do with the paused and skipped part of the video.
Yes, you can either make several solid squares and join them together, or you can continue adding rounds until you have reached the size that you want 😊 If doing the latter I'd recommend turning your square over after each round and working on the opposite side, to keep it straight.
@@bellacococrochet imma try to learn doing the joining ones thank you so much for this video imma try the turning technique again cause it’s so hard lol only being left handed
If you’re left handed you can still use regular patterns, but you’ll usually find that you’ll need to flip the instructions (for example, right handed crochet is worked from right to left, but you’ll probably find that you’ll work left to right) 😊 I have lots of left handed tutorials and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to crochet just the same as a right hander.
i'm very much a beginner, so I started followin ur tutorials but i ended up with a round shape rather than a square one, would u plz tell me what went wrong?

I love the left handed tutorials! So helpful for us lefties. Do you have a written pattern for this granny square?
I would love to have the hand written pattern as well😊
I'm new to love your videos
Thank you so much Bella! I just created one myself! Thanks again. -Samantha
Thanks for the tutorials for lefties, I've always had to try to follow people that are right handed and it was very confusing.
Found it. Thank you
this is great for me cause im left handed

Heh I already taught myself to crochet left handed :)
How many chains do you need to complete the granny squares for crochet beginners such as myself?
Never touched a crochet hook before, bu after watching and re watching your video trying and re trying I have got it. They look like shit but a few more squares and I will be good to go. Thank you form one lefty to another. :-)
I can’t seem to get the hang of this stitch; I dk if it’s the yarn or me but it becomes a tangled mess. Any advice would be appreciated!
If you haven't already then I would check out my beginner's tutorial on how to work a treble crochet stitch here: ua-cam.com/video/rSUqMV_7GdU/v-deo.html :-) This is the stitch used in the granny square. I love this tutorial however I'm having a gap where my chain 3 join is, like a seam. Any tips to fix this?
I have a tutorial on how to crochet a seamless solid square here: ua-cam.com/video/uXGoo1-W0tY/v-deo.html 😊
I feel like there are more holes in mine but I've been pausing it and starting when I need to. How could I send a photo
You can check that you’ve got the correct number of stitches by remembering that you’re adding four stitches per side with each round 😊 If it’s looking holey in general then I would go down a hook size as it could be down to your tension.
Does it make it easier if you chain 9 or more? I've never done granny squares yet. I've seen chain 4 or 6.
If you chain too many to begin you will find that you have a hole in the centre of your square. If you chain 6 you should find that big enough to be able to see properly where to work into 😊
I've just made one of these, how do I add another colour to it?
I have a tutorial of how to change colour, here is the link:- ua-cam.com/video/MaIuAWV2BA4/v-deo.html I hope this helps :)
@@bellacococrochet thank you 😊
Good, but I ended up with a triangle rather than a square. I have tried twice now and still end up with a triangle. I have a feeling it has something to do with the paused and skipped part of the video.
my hand aches when doing it for the first time. any tips for beginner?
Hey what did u do after u paused the video cos i couldent do it so i threw it away
Bunnys 101 If you give up straight away, you will never do it :( the video continues after its paused!
I didnt no how to do the pattern it got so messed up Bella Coco
I’ve watched three of your videos for a “granny square” and each one has different directions........which one is correct? Is it the most current??
I have several different granny square tutorials it depends on which look you are going for :)
Hey Bella coco can I use this to make a granny square blanket because I haven’t seen no left handed videos with one solid color granny square

@@bellacococrochet thanks for the reply, I'm really struggling watching right handed videos, hoping that patterns won't be the same 😳🙂
Can I make a complete afghan with this stitch??? One big square?
i'm very much a beginner, so I started followin ur tutorials but i ended up with a round shape rather than a square one, would u plz tell me what went wrong?
Laitfa Hanane Righi its hard to say when I can't see your work x
i started doing something very similar. my personal issue was i didnt do the 2 chains needed to make the corners and so on.
What size hook are you using in the video?
Brittany Disher 4mm xx
I'm left handed but crochet with my right lol
Really wish this would go slower!
I was doing so good until u paused and skiped tar 😂👌🏼
I was doing so good until u paused and skipped 😕
You are going too fast
Hi Jackie, it may help you to pause or slow down the video :)
Bit too fast for a complete beginner.
Hi Deborah have you tried slowing down the video or pausing so that you can catch up :)
@@bellacococrochet hi. I'll give it another go. Cheers.
