I have been crocheting since I was six years old, and I'm 60. I just wanted to thank you for this video/tutorial. I prefer to work with thread and have made so many beautiful things. Now that I'm older, I'm losing my eyesight and have started making projects with yarn i.e. 'lots' of afghans! I saw your video for the sunburst granny square and decided to give it a whirl. I just wanted to say you are an excellent teacher, and have the sweetest, most loving voice. Thank you so much again. I will be turning out many of these afghans for my kids and grandkids. Thanks again.
I really like this tutorial. You go slow enough to be clear but not so slow as to be agonizing or patronizing. Love it, thanks! (and the pattern is great, too
I found this pattern by chance. It's an answer to my orayers! Beautiful stitches, fun and fast to work up, no gaps, no ends to weave in and a stash buster to boot! Thank you, thank you!!
I wrote it out incase anyone wants it! sorry the format is wonky i was just doing it for myself. Also I used a magic circle. Magic circle ---16 double crochet (including the first, chain 2) ---Slip stitch directly into first stitch for no gaps 16 Puff stitch ---Chain one, Yarn over go through , do this until 7 bands on the hook --Pull through chain one go to next, do this until all of them are done including the very last stitch then slip stitch into the first one --Pull up to height of double crochet because have to pull through all of them --Can count 16 puff Bobble stitch --Chain 2 (she always chains 2 normal is 3) , --Yarn over into the obvious larger hole, as if you are doing the first part of a double crochet, but do not pull through the second time. --Instead keep doing the first half until you have 5 rows on the hook , chain 2 (chain two every every pull through) --Do this between each puff for a total of 16 , do the last loop slip stitch first one Granny square --Chain 4 --Double wrap (yarn over 2x) insert into space pull through 2 , pull through 2, pull through 2 (trebble stitch) --Do 3 of these (first cluster of 3 - corner) --Chain 3 inbetween the corner ones only ---Do 3 more ---pattern is corner 3 cluster, chain 3, second part of corner 3 cluster, 3 double crochet, 3 halfdouble crochet, 3 doube crochet, corner.... etc until you work your way around. To finish slip stitch into the 4th chain of the first chain length.
I love crochet but it’s been very hard to learn because I have ADD and I struggle to find tutorials I can pay attention to the whole way through. Your channel is the best find thank you so much! 🥰
Thanks for making your instructions so clear and pausing just at the right times to allow me to see and copy the stitch at my learning speed. I love your UA-cam videos!
Oh I love your video! I guess I would say I’m a beginner. I watched this video on one colored granny square over and over and over and I finally finished a granny square and it looks perfect! I love your voice and I love the fact that you don’t go on and on about yarn and loving to crochet and your life. You just get right down to it. I’m so excited about making the retro stripe Afghan. It’s gonna look so pretty in my aqua and coral bedroom. Thank you for being an excellent instructor.
You are a great teacher, better than most. You explain in simple terms and make sure the camera is focused on what you are doing. I tried to follow a woman making a beautiful granny, but she kept changing the camera angle in the middle of the stitch. She drove me crazy 🤪 the beautiful granny square wasn't worth the frustration. Keep up the good work.
Thankyou so much for your wonderful tutorial I nearly gave up on crocheting before I came across your video , it take me nearly an hour to complete but I did it ,you are a fantastic teacher and will definitely be following your tutorials.Thankyou
Thank you for this lovely and easy to follow tutorial! I've worked my squares with a variated yarn so it's created a gradient effect from the middle outwards. The tip about working over the tail was so handy!
Thank you so much for this approach, I've been using self-striping yarn for squares lately and not having to adapt out the colour changes makes this so much more enjoyable. :)
Thank you so much for this video. You're amazingly easy to follow and I love that you don't rush us through the process. I want to make a bedspread for my mother and all other videos were hard to follow along with.
You have shown us a GENIUS method for joining rounds invisibly! THANK YOU❣ Been crocheting for 55 years and never came across this. Love your channel, subscribed!🤗
That is a beautiful granny square. I was in my teens when I learned to crochet. Thank you for this tutorial. It's a lovely granny square. I am going to try making it. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent Excellent Excellent instruction and explanation. I love how you join the rounds - I’ve always struggled with that. I also like how you show that last space to stitch in! Great!!
thank you!! i just started crotcheting four months ago this is my first granny square... Im glad its not the boring normal one its more creative.. THanks robin...
Thank you so much for this great tutorial. Lovely square. I used a different colour of cotton yarn for every round, added another round to the "square" round, and made beautiful, fun dishcloth for a friend. Thank you again.
This tutorial is amazing! I have tried granny squares in the past and didn't like the seams that would show. I tried other sunburst granny tutorials and they had the weird looking seams. I was about to give up when I found your video. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Please keep creating granny square tutorials with your method to avoid the seams. :)
Thank you so much. I am a beginner and I managed to finish my first sunburst granny square. I am planning to make a tote bag out of granny squares so I am so glad I found this tutorial!
I really liked this pattern and noticed you have another one in changing colors right after it. I also appreciate that Nicole Stephen's wrote out the instructions for us. I try to do that myself while watching these different tutorials. Thank you so much for your time in doing this.
Thank you for sharing! I've only been crocheting for 3 months and the thought of doing a magic circle seemed intimidating until this video! Thank you!!!
Your tutorial is absolutely wonderful!!! Love your explanations and tips. The video allows us to see exactly what you are doing and your voice is lovely to listen to!!! I am very inspired now!!! Thank you!!!
😀 Thank you for such easy to follow directions! wish I could figure out how to add one more round to make a 5" granny square. But since this only takes 15 minutes to make, I might just be able to! Thank you again!
Thank you ,for the easy instructions. It does make a difference, I have 2 or 3 blankets that are kind of loose, and gaping. I'm not so proud of them. I had intended then for family. But thay are still in my storage. I like the way it turned out. ❤❤❤
This video is wonderful! This is the second granny square that I have learned to do and your instructions and pace made it easy to follow and helped me feel successful! Thank you so much!!

I know this is an older video but I love this process. Thank you for sharing & thank goodness someone is saying it’s ok to not make a multicolored granny square. I love the color you used too.
So appreciate your video! I did add a round of single crochets with three single crochets in each corner. This helps stabilize the square and facilitates the joining. Thank you!
I am gonna be totally honest I watch so many tutorials and the one that say it the best one and this one really help them but it didn’t help me it keep getting curved and I try hard but I didn’t work and I come across this video and this one really help me and it really loook good and it came out really good and don’t curved thank you so much for this i am gonna make some granny square pants thank you
