They said a lot was cut so maybe there was plans for a base of operations where this was used
Also the cannon seems like a unfinished part of the story
The tank cannon is part of the artillery Easter Egg but being able to grab the tank cannon is a mistake and oversight. Once all the buttons for the artillery Easter Egg are pressed, the turret with the tank cannon will start to shoot the sky before the artillery bombardment begins. The tank gun (well technically guns) is used for the firing effect
The cannon was originally going to have a place in the story. The people who worked on Halo Infinite talked about it in an IGN video where they were reacting to a Halo Infinite speed run.
The real April Fools is reminding us campaign theater was a feature...

The tank canon is actually placed there as a feature. The devs talked about it on the ign video “halo infinite devs react to speed running”

The tank cannon is a bug. 343 said that for the bombardment Easter egg where you activate the 3 buttons on the reverie and the landing pad all enemies get blown up they needed to make the shots actually come from a gun, they said they forgot to get rid of the pickup tag so you couldn’t get it.

tank gun isn't a glitch. on a speed run commentary, the 2 devs they had talked about how they made it on purpose.
But they left it in on accident. So it is a bug

It's weird how similar the walk cycle is compared to the destiny 1 tower walking animation maybe this animation was used during the halo reach prototypes of destiny and never got deleted once bungie left and 343 used it as a placeholder animation?
The only thing missing is a proper weaponless jumping animation.

Hey, did you ever see the Lazer Tank? If you're messing around with the mod files and call in a scorpion and reload the tags in the runtime tag viewer, and start messing around with guns and what they shoot, in the list of various barrels and projectiles there's one called "Hannible_Scorpion_turret_lazer" Or something along those lines. (Sorry, doing this off of memory.) It shoots this blue stuff and is honestly super OP. If you have the cowbell skull on you can make things go flying even farther than even the regular scorpion cannon.
Probably a vehicle from Halo 5 (Hannibal scorpion) that got cut. The Halo 5 version also shot a massive blue laser that obliterates shit.
This makes me wonder if there is more secret weapons on the map
If you go to the place where you spawn in at the beginning of the campaign. There is a crashed UNSC ship. If you go into it you can see two giant anti-air cannons. If you go onto the tip of the left prong of the cannon closest to the edge of the map then you can look down at the tip of the cannon and pick up a secret weapon. The weapon is a portable version of a Scorpion's cannon and can one shot almost anything. If you switch it out for another weapon it will disappear forever, so don't do that. Also it only works at the beginning of the game. I think it is disabled after you complete your third mission. Also I just did this today so I know it's not patched.

The way the position of the camera is positioned and the way it looks with MC has to be a reference to Destiny 1 and 2. (I'm referring to when you're in the tower)

On a serious note have you seen the hidden skewer underneath the tank gun in that little hole in the wall? It despawns after leaving the area I'm pretty sure, would love to know what it is, it spawns underground
I feel so stupid, I killed the bosses in like 7 to 10 seconds, and then I checked, did it again, then realized it said Uploaded April 1st.

When you looked down at your legs by the tank gun, it almost looked like you were on a higher fov but still could see your legs.

I've always loved halo since ce grew up with it and gears of war so I dug the third person so if they ever made 3rd person an option In halo I'd use it every now and again just for fun

Did you just mod that in because there is a grunt mule who carries 3 of the weapons that lay next to the drop pod and i also did every step right i got the tank gun i beat them in under 30 seconds and i can see the floating grass but there is no drop pod. Have I done something incorrect?

Patching out the tank cannon at this point would be really stupid. It's not hurting anything and looks like it's a blast to use. Just leave it in and avoid the bad PR. This is one of those wonderful times where doing the right thing costs you literally nothing.

I don’t like the fact I watched the video today saw it and when he said something about killing the bosses on legendary in 30 seconds. I knew realistically 99% of the player base who play halo CANT do that because I can’t do that (I’m not a bot). I just got fooled and it ain’t even the 1st of April anymore smh.

They would of taken the tank cannon out right when it was found Its a developer tool you have to put the weapons on the map somewhere usually invisible and out of reach from the player but not this time lol in order to take it out of would probably break the whole game so other than putting it somewhere else I wouldn't get too excited for any of these cool tricks to go anywhere its basically embedded in the coding and game breaking to remove
