Bob Marley had a number of children: three with his wife Rita, two adopted from Rita's previous relationships, and several others with different women. The Bob Marley official website acknowledges eleven children.

13.also list Imani Carole, born May 22, 1963 to Cheryl Murray; but she does not appear on the official Bob Marley website
Rita was all the Queen Bob needed, I can only imagine the embarrassment and hurt she endured watching him chase and romance other woman, big up to Mrs. Rita Marly a true buffalo soldier.

Cindy the beauty queen, Esther Anderson the photographer, women Bob allegedly were with. He still came back to Rita. Apparently hurt by it, Rita wanted to leave him but he wouldn't let her. So he loved her and remembered where they were coming from. Apparently Rita's parents left her at different times, Bob's dad too and his mother to seek a better life so they probably clung to each other. Bob did wrong but knew it was Rita who loved him

I don’t care about his Relationship history. I just love Bob Marley as my favorite Reggae artist.
There’s a tendency to make Marley a saint. I enjoy his music & his message but he did a lot of messed up things when it came to his marriage to Rita.
Idk if they were polyamorous or open, but they clearly had some sort of arrangement from what Rita said in the footage. She also had affairs and children outside of their marriage as well that Bob adopted. People conveniently like to not do their research/forget about that part!

Often the fans too would internationally would make remarks because the Mick Jaggers , Road Stewart all had multiple wives and girlfriends ,kept exchanging then once they got tired .

Well Squilly I see this is from back in March had to refresh myself as to the content , but yes I'd made some statements that apparently was misconstrude that I was angry. My notorious language for which I apologize; a bad habit I'm presently working to correct and should.A lot U brought me here so let me begin by saying that I would never make a blanket statement inferring that U knew not what Ur talking about. I think U and I have a different spin on the beautiful Ms Marley and how valiant/strong she was for staying in what I would call a marriage from hell.
First of all why on God's green earth would staying put in such a disfunctional hell be considered strong when she could have left all that heartache and pain? And jealousy being weak? No. I believe this is ur and my whole disconnect.Jealously is a human trait and we humans should be allowed to react within reason when put upon in this respect. I believe Ms Marley at that time was more afraid than strong or weak for that matter. Afraid to get out of a marriage that Bob himself is now denying even exists!! She stayed because she loved him yes but how much of one's self is required to be sacrificed for the sake of love, money stature and the like? I believe you have to love yourself first before you can honestly/ truly love another.
You must believe that what and who you are is relevant to the relationship and that you do count !! To the other half that is. From the various interviews given by Bob and Rita there is no reason to believe that she now held no special meaning to him!! No more than any of the others in which he was involved although she is the legal wife who also cheated resulting in at least one child just as he did with children to attest to various affairs.
So keeping on point she relegates her own status as #1 and only wife ever to "Guardian Angle" something bigger than she? Really? This is where I have a problem with Ms Marley and you obviously don't. The marriage is long over and she says so herself but she stays within it. He's now giving public interviews stating that he is not married!! So do you not think that by most sane accounts a marriage from hell at this point?

When I see Rita, I think of her. Rita still helped all the kids career wise and made sure they were close as siblings. I just think she deserves respect now. She is not proud, she just made the choice to not lived ashamed like some people would want her to, she has one of the most talentented reggae artists as a son who gets alone perfectly with Rita's sons and they touch people everyday with their music. Less judgement, more love.

I read Rita's book and it was in her own words and her own voice.
She was treated very disrespectfully by Cindy and Esther and some of the other high profile women, as well. As if she meant nothing. She was hurt, why continue to pour salt in this woman's wound.
Yes, Damian is very talented, so are all the Marley Bros. Rita made sure they stayed close after Bob's death. What about her shame, her hurt, her life now? All the other mothers stay silent, they do not give speeches and interviews and they are not wealthy women!

He was trying to spread peace and love through his music. But his personal life was a complete and utter mess. There is nothing respectful about a womanizing man. No one is perfect we all know that. But right is right and wrong is wrong.

Even in a youtube 1976 reel when Bob's attempted assassination happened it mentioned Rita as his wife ( Cindy started to really date Bob in 1975). Yes its wrong but thank G-D they were all born and bring us much beautiful music to this world and keep Bob's legacy Alive..it was written...Bob died very Young...this was G-D's plan for the LEGEND to have many International children here on earth...Its deeper than just "cheating". I understand because I had an ex who did this to me...he passed away at same age as Bob and has several kids by several women and all of the children have made such a big impact to this world. Bob was not a Christian man. He had different views and beliefs on marriage. He married Rita because he loved her and saw his mom in her. She was his Empress. Even though he had different women, he never abused them, he showed them love and respected them. Rita also had affairs. Different marriage arrangement.

I think how Bob handled this relationship was wrong. That being said, it doesn't define him, or make him a bad person. We can accept he had flaws and did wrong like every single one of us and still recognize all the good he did and people he helped and the talent he had which greatly overshadowed his mistakes. He chased Cindy for quite a long time before she eventually agreed and it seemed Bob was truly deeply in love with her. All respect to the mother Queen Rita, but she already had two children by two different men, before Bob started dating Cindy. I believe Bob and Rita's love transcended beyond merely being married; they could've divorced, but they chose to stick with each other instead, no matter what. Life is never perfect and neither is any human. All Bob's children are fulfilling their individual purposes, just like their mothers did, and Bob himself as well, within his short life span.
Rita was together when they he was dating cindy, she did break up at some point even though she stayed married. I don't think its as profound as you try to make it. I think it was the influence of the rasta religion that influenced not getting a divorce.

As I see it, what made Bob Marley such a legend was the passion he had for his music and his people. To possess such passion, I can only imagine he felt he had more than enough to share and draw inspiration from different experiences with different women. Rita rose above it, and so, I choose to do the same

In Cedella Bookers book-chapter 12 Cedella said without a doubt out of all the women in nestas life, his strongest and most abiding love, down to the last breath he drew was for Rita Marley.
