Legend❤
It's actually very good that you didn't translate the words and focused on phonetics. Meaning plus visuals plus sound would have been too much. Here we only learn to associate a certain sound with a certain group of letters and that's a very good approach 🌟🤗
Thanks! I think so too.
I am intermediate level in Norwegian Bokmål / German / Swedish and advanced level in Dutch and upper beginner level in Old Norse / Icelandic, and I understand most of the Danish words because most of the words are similar to the words in the other languages I know, and I am beginner level in Danish and Faroese and Gothic, but I can understand a lot of the words and sentences, including lines in lyrics - it’s interesting that there is this word dreng in Danish that comes from the Old Norse word drengr!
@@FrozenMermaid666dreng means “boy” I think? I’m still barely learning
This video is great, most of the people have a big problem with the pronunciation and for me this is a great help thank you
Found your channel a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving it! It's so rare to find a certain language phonetics being explained, and as a linguist myself, I have to say - this is brilliant!! Thank you so much! Greetings from Croatia :)
Great to hear ❤️
yes, brilliant! only listening helps and this is comes right into the ear:-)
I don't know really anything about Danish, but I'm taking a class on pronunciation so I'm looking around at videos of people teaching pronunciation. I really liked this video. You have a lot of examples, you're very clear on everything. I really liked this video. Thanks for putting it out there! Now I feel like I could MAYBE read some Danish words. Haha
Danish pronunciation is like a mix of English + German pronunciation rules, very modern sounding and pretty, and I am intermediate level in Norwegian Bokmål / German / Swedish and advanced level in Dutch and upper beginner level in Old Norse / Icelandic, and I understand most of the Danish words because most of the words are similar to the words in the other languages I know, and I t’s interesting that there is this word dreng in Danish that comes from the Old Norse word drengr - I am beginner level in Danish and Faroese and Gothic, but I can understand a lot of the words and sentences, including lines in lyrics!
Its so great how clearly you speak. And the fact that you will repeat a word with varying cadence and tone is a detail of brilliance.
Mange tak!!! This has helped me so so much! I am new learning danish and I love it even if it is hard so I am so happy I found your channel! You explain it so well.
Happy to help, Carla!
Fantastisk. Tak! Jeg studerer dansk om 30 dage og det er "a big help" 😉
Thank you so much for your video. Just starting to learn Danish. Love from Portugal
thank you so much for this! i have been trying to learn danish by myself and this has helped set a foundation!
Thomas is the best Danish teacher!
Hej Thomas. I just discovered your channel and I'm so happy that I found it. Your videos are awesome and really help me a lot. Especially this one about pronounciation made so many things clearer in my head 😃
When will you release a second part about this topic? It is still missing the letters y å ae ø. Can't wait to learn about them! 🇩🇰
Happy to help! Part 2 has already been recorded and will come out in a few weeks!
Wow awesome lesson..the Best lesson ever.thnk you. deserve an OSCAR
So glad I found this! Danish phonetics are genius
6:52 ...og1
7:06 ...og2
These two really confused me, so i had to put these 2 time stamps..and you can notice the difference after several tries & close listen.
Og2 you need to close your lips further when you finish the word, unlike og1 where your lips aren't that stressed on the end.
I think og2 is like a glottal stop.
1:41 Where's the Google docs?
Thanks
Tusind tak!
Mange tak Thomas, you made DK sounds make more sense..!
Thanks for this GREAT Video. How can i get Part-2 video?
Nice video. I wonder when Spoken Danish got alienated from Written Danish. I was doing a research on the similarities between English and Danish. I noticed that both languages' spoken forms are very different from its written form. With English, the loaning of Latin words into English during Early Modern English period completely changed English.
A Germanic language with a Latin vocabulary (mostly). To sound intelligent, people use those Latin words that your heart has no feeling or emotion toward.
This is AMAZING! Thank you very much for clarifying some of this for me. :-)
You are most welcome :)
Thanks for the video. I needed this when I started learning Danish but it is still helpful
Really cool video! Just starting danish and this will help hugely 😁
Hello, thank you for the great video! The link in the description seems to be faulty. Is there any chance to update the link? :)
Thanks for telling me 😀
Did 2 1/2 years at sprog skole.Ikke snakke om pronunciation. Why .....?This shines a light on my problem of pronunciation..doh.Only taken me x years to find this ....
At least you found it now. Sprogskole doesn't always cover what it should.
can nurse can only bring just pass mark to work there

It's really helped me alot, iam a new student here😍

When I stop being poor, I will support your channel. Ty

Thank you for this video, Thomas. You are the best! I am learning danish and your videos are helping me a lot. Could you give me a hint on how to pronounce correctly the word "sød"? It seems impossible! When I say it to my google translator, the app does not 'understands' what I am saying....
Thanks a lot! The pronunciation of "Sød" rhymes with: død, blød, nød, mød.
And yes, the D is soft :)
@@Danishmastery ~Ohhh, i *hates* that "soft D" ({; D ...!
So it seems the rule with "a" is that if it is a+consonant+e, the a makes a long vowel sound, and the e makes it's short sound. Is that right?
7:58 isnt the T in fjoget supposed to be a soft D as it is at the end of a word ?
You can say it both ways. In real life, you’ll usually hear it pronounced as a soft D.

This is SOOOO helpful...
Amazing
Спасибо!!- Tusind tak!!
Very useful and a big help
Link isn't working, but thanks
Great video!!!
I'm wondering, though, is the docs still available? I wasn't able to open it :(
Thanks, Joy!
It is unfortunate, but the docs link isn’t working anymore, as it was connected to Liam’s account, and he and I aren’t working together anymore.
Thank you very much for this well done video
Thank you for watching.
Noooo, I'm too late, the link doesn't work anymore... :(
But thanks for the video nonetheless!! very helpful.
Just wondering - ordnet.dk gives [ˈsæː] for "sagde", one syllable. In your video I hear two [ˈsæːə]. Are both possible?
Thank you so much! ❤️
Good explanation 👍
Hello my teacher, am so new to this language i want to speak it how can you help
Keep watching videos, and if you really want to speed up the process, you can get the full video collection on the Danish Mastery website.
I very appreciate this video !!! :)
7:30 You never pronounce "morgen"
Zoltan Torok true.
Thomas er min bedste ven i Danmark
Thomas Du er min bedste lærer. Mange tak! Vil du fortsætte dine lektioner på dansk udtale?
Undskyld Tomas, jeg har to spørgsmål,
1, Jeg skulle ringe til ham nu.
2, jeg skulle besøge ham i morgen.
Disse sætninger er rettigheder eller hvad?
Please answer me, because we have some discussion or debate with my friends.
Hilsner Ahforom Haile
Hej! You can say those sentences, but be aware that it sounds like something you were supposed to do, but didn't. (Because of "skulle", which is in the past tense).
It's better to use "skal" to make it sound more relevant to the present.
Thanks for helping me because always I following you and I learned many words and pronunciation, so God bless you 💚💚💚
But I think sometimes different with Google translate that means, for example,
English, I should call him now,
Danish , jeg skulle ringe til ham nu.
English, I should visit him tomorrow.
Danish, jeg skulle besøge ham i morgen.
Don't trust google translate :) Try hellotalk (an app) instead.
Learn Danish with Thomas
I think it's the same.

I'll think about it.
Mange tak 🎉❤
