- Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz spent over a decade travelling the back roads of the United States as the stars of "American Pickers. Over more than 300 episodes, the duo criss-crossed America, digging up antiques and collectibles out of every junk pile they saw. But since March 2020, fans have been picking up on some troubling developments between the longtime co-hosts.
In a July 2021 interview with The Sun, Frank Fritz revealed that he and Mike Wolfe hadn't spoken in two years. Though he shared his hopes for a reunion, it was confirmed that Frank wouldn't be returning to "American Pickers." What happened to drive the two former friends apart? This is why Frank and Mike from "American Pickers" don't speak anymore.

I watched yesterday for the first time without Frank.Not bad but we miss Frank.Its probably the substance abuse that's leaked out.
It's truly sad to see a friendship that's lasted for literally decades to end over the show I'd like to see them become friends again I miss Frank

So Mike has an affair on his wife , blows off Frank and Daniel may be leaving. Sounds like Mike is the problem ,ego out of control? The show has become so faked ,pre-done and I don't see it lasting long.

I'm with you. I adored Mike and thought he was a genuinely good guy. Dani was barely ever on the show. You have to wonder why she was pushed out because fans adored her. I'd certainly watch a show with her and a friend or two.
Then, Mr Wholesome has gotten rid of Mrs Wholesome and is "suddenly" dating a Maxim model? Isn't that what she is? Certainly a model and they have public pics all the way back to 2018 where she seems sweet on him. That wasn't sudden. Guess a wife and a kid are pretty boring compared to that.
Then, can't even check on his friend and for sure, the show seldom paid attention to Frank. What a disappointment this is.
I don't have much hope for the ratings even though it seems to be on 24/7 for now. I'm out. 😓

The REAL question is, why didn't Mike ever check on the guy "who's like a brother to him" when he (mike) KNEW frank had hurt his back? Is the back injury a cover-up to explain Frank's absence? Or is Mike really just that self centered and inconsiderate? Or perhaps something else? Still doesn't make sense...
Yes I agree there is more to the story behind the scenes. Frank has had substance abuse issues in the past, Mike may have been really open to helping him and giving him another chance, but if the issues persist, or Frank rejects the input, Mike then decided to move on with his priorities. Mike may have felt Frank was becoming a liability for the show or just had enough of the drama.
@@ericscottstevens those are all very good points. I didn't know frank had substance abuse issues. That would definitely turn someone away if the person with those issues refuses to stay clean/sober or if they keep falling off the wagon over and over. That would also be something they would cover up with a back injury story. Not saying he didn't hurt his back but they might've made it bigger than it really was to cover Frank's addiction problems.
There has to be more to it.Working w/ friends or family can cause strain on a relationship. Nothing stays the same forever..
All Mike cares about is himself you can see that in ever show for at least 3 years. In the beginning he was. Simple like Frank but that old friend money changed him.Frank still same old simple guy.
@@williamfritz19 I know of an antiques small town shop in my area, small talk with the owners and they said Mike Wolfe is a regular (Nashville is about 3 hour drive away for Mike). They have a regional library sign hanging in their antiques shop high in their ceiling that is not for sale. Well every time Mike stops in he wants that sign and always offers his price. The owners tell Mike (again and again) the sign is a regional importance to the town and selling would take it away from the history of where it came from. Mike listens and still puts a offer on it. Mike does not care about historical relevance of a regional piece, just how much he can resell it for to anyone any where. I think if I would sit down and have a beer with either, it would be Frank.
If Frank “goes solo” I’ll watch his show. Mike’s ego is too big these days. Frank is more down to earth and much more human.

Wait so Frank said he'd like to return to the show ? And Mike said I wish him the best on his next journey as if Frank wasn't coming back to the show ? So what's the deal ? I would think if Frank wanted to return to the show Mike would be like Oh HELL YES BROTHER !!! Sounds like something else could have happened between them that they're not telling us. I dunno. All I know is all the viewers who have been watching American Pickers since the beginning want to see the original line up again. Mike and Frank out there travelling the Country picking through peoples barns and houses. It's like David Lee Roth doing Concerts without Van Halen. It's just not the same.
People grow apart. People quit jobs after a while. We shouldn’t expect people to be miserable just for our personal joy.
Just like everything in life, there's Mike's story, there's Frank's story and somewhere in the middle is truth. Thanks for the memories guys I have enjoyed the show.
I like them both and never noticed any problem. I hope they forgive each other and continue there friendship, on screen or off. There was just to many good memories to end on a sour note. God bless them both. I enjoyed both.
If it's true Mike never checked in on Frank after his injury, I can understand why Frank would be upset.
Seems like it's more about Frank being jealous Mike is more popular amongst the viewers than is Frank

I really enjoyed watching American Pickers. I believe that Frank and Mike were a great team. The both brought something special to the program. Without Frank being on the program I don’t think I’ll continue tuning in. I do wish Mike and his new partner the very best.
If Frank had to leave the show because of his health then I understand they had to continue on without him.
But I really liked the chemistry between he and Mike as old buddies.
Nothing against Mikes brother, but it's just not the same without Frank.
It was a good run while it lasted, but I'm out.

Frank has krons disease. Had surgery and is still recovering. I was at the shop in Iowa and was told he is slowly healing

To clarify. This show is not " Fake" as much as entertainment. It is basically a dramatization re enactment based on true events.
In order to give the viewer the feeling of discovery of the pick it is necessary to be pre written rather than just raiding common peoples places with camera in tow.
As you can see some of the eccentric characters even withstanding the pre screening are a bit un predictable.
Im sure many a footage was left on the cutting room floor as either intolerable by the censors or out and out UN watchable.
Understandably Not exactly candid camera type material.
These are common folk, common to their regions, to just happen on someones property without written consent would be un imaginable. But first they have to see if going through the process would be worth the legal cost.
Understanding this, just enjoy the show. It is mostly based on facts of the pick.
Mike and Frank are great together as the viewers mode of discovery. They represent both the passion for nostalgia and the skepticism of the value of the deal equally. The interplay between them is therough and informative giving voice to the muted viewer.

Hope the future sees you two back at it on the road together with Daniel as the home base.

Frank grounded this show & gave it a brotherly bond. 2 childhood friends make good. Now that's gone & I don't see this show lasting without Frank. Sad
Frank made that show just as much as Mike.
It takes two to make things work and it takes two to make things fall apart.
This show is now on life support. That's why they have been bringing in the brother and the guy that fixes stuff. Danni is leaving and Frank is gone... It'll be done in a few years all together

The last sentence in Mike's statement says it all about how he feels about Frank. "I will miss Frank just like all of you, (that's not very personable) and I pray for the very best and all good things (reads like a Hallmark card)
for him on the next part of his journey. (don't let the door hit you on your way out.)
A PR exercise and nothing more. Although I do get his point about people going on different directions after 10 years in the saddle. They are both now wealthy because of the show, so they should be pretty happy about that.
Of course it’s more focused on Mike. It’s his show, his idea, his vision. Frank was along for the ride. Mike actually pays up. Frank is a used car salesman, cheapo. His low ball offers got him a reputation as a guy trying to scam the old folks. Especially early in the series.

I'm not gonna lie, I have always seen a bit of tence energy between these 2 at different intervals between different episodes. I just assumed I was always wrong, just saying.

I have watched this show from day 1. No more. I’ve removed it from my PVR. Mikes ego has destroyed this show. To treat a long time friend like this says it all!!

I'm guessing this is more about Frank and the producer's of the show, than it is about Mike and Frank. Friend's do tend to drift apart over time, so I could be wrong.
So many of these reality shows decline down this path after years of success! American Pickers, American Chopper, Ghost Adventures, to name a few! While they never say it, I believe that money is the REAL reason most of these shows fall apart!
The only decent thing about the show was the lovely Danielle. She deserves her own show, the kind of things she likes, tattoos, burlesque, vintage clothing, cars, etc etc
She actually just got engaged. Apparently she's been in Puerto Rico for some time helping rebuild Puerto Rico - she's worked on both orphanages and animal shelters, plus she's the mom to 2 kids.

Cheating on your wife doesn't make someone rock, especially when you see what he's hooked up with: not the type of person you want your daughter to read about, especially the Howard Stern appearance.
Much sadder than the show is a child grows up without her dad in her life on a daily basis.
2:56 damn, Frank got both of his arms completely tatted up… didn’t expect to see that lol looks very well done I must say. And he appears to have lost a ton of weight. Good for him! I spent many, many hours watching this show and I wish nothing but the best for them all
Glad to see mike did'nt get a bunch of tatoos. You can tell by Danielle's body language, she cares more for Mike than Frank.
Whether the production team or Mike think Frank is relevant doesn't matter because we all know Frank is just as big a part of the shows history as Mike and they made it a success.
I always thought Mike wanted to be a bigger star, and tried to make out he was the superior and more knowledgeable picker of the two. Even with his own brother quote " Well I learned from You" line exudes Mike is the more knowledgeable. Get serious!
They pulled up in front of a good friend of mine's home. they were with a small group of vehicles. My friend went out to greet them & was told to get back. This was way out in farm land Pa. Love the show but thats not how ya treat fans just trying to say hello.
I really like this show and enjoy both Mike and Frank. A lot of people are blaming Mike but we don’t have the whole story. Frank said Mike hadn’t called him in 2 years but that means Frank didn’t pick the phone either. Mike was going through a divorce at that time. I’ve had an injured back and been divorced; I’d take the back injury any day. Also, it’s possible that Frank’s alcohol addiction may have come in between him and the History channel. Let’s wait to hear more information before judging.
Imo I think that Mike wanted most of the time to be focused more on him and it was HIS show not him AND Frank. Like seriously how often did the camera crew talk to Frank about HIM and the items he purchased or didn't,the things he liked or not.
Frank should have a show called ..Rag Pickers ..From Rags to Riches Story..

Frank needs his own show, I think most people could relate with Frank more so than Mike.
My father met Mike at his shop. He enjoyed the show as it was, but feel he would be very disappointed how success can come between friends, disrupts family and makes a person feel, it’s all about him. The show will, if not already, disappear with this recipe of up a ship....
Regardless, it was a great show.

This still really didn't explain why they don't speak anymore. It's sad. I have a friend who knows a guy that was featured here in Colorado Springs. He Mike and Frank hardly said two words to each other while here.
It was good while it lasted. I enjoyed American Pickers.
I think Mike is the lead for the show, he bought (co-owns) that car garage in Columbia TN, the Iowa store, and rents the store in Nashville. So Wolfe makes all the financial moves as he earns per year ($250k -$300k)more than what people earn in their lifetime. Yet Mike will say he cannot afford things when dickering on prices. [yeah right] Frank was a cast member there but not in an equal footing.
Pickers has evolved into a rolling cast that seems to be plugging in new personalities and rolls forward. Keep going!
From the very beginning of Jon and Karen I mean Kate everyone could see how controlling and terrible she was. They lasted longer than I expected. Lol

I think Frank rubbed a lot of people the wrong way with his tightwad antics on early episodes. Me As an antique dealer that was the word going around our circle. I met Mike while I was selling at Nashville flea market. He was very humble guy. Friends of mine met his brother Robby while at a hotel. They hung out in lobby of hotel and had a few drinks. Said Robby was also great to hang with. I just think Mike and Frank grew apart as friends. Human nature it happens. Mike came off as more interesting. That’s why show as Frank’s says was 1000% around Mike. Btw, if you don’t know the show is fake and scripted, you likely believe in Easter bunny

The truth is you need to do this to make a living as an antique dealer. Average person sees a 10x markup and freaks out. This week I’ll be selling at worlds longest yard sale. Booth rent $200, rent a tent $350, I’ll have a camper but most dealers spend $500 on hotel. It’ll rain sometime during show and ruin hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise. You cannot just double your money in this business. You’ll fail. Average Joe cannot grasp what I just said. Joe will come into my booth and lowball me, so I must lowball seller to even it out. Just like Frank. Frank’s curse was to many folks he wasn’t as likable and folks don’t really get the need for lowball.

Diff tween Frank & Mike, I feel, is Frank always happily gave any & everything a go. Frank wld drive/ride any mechanical machine without hesitation, try on clothing-remember the platform shoes, 2 me he always seemed more sincere. If he was shitty, stoked, shocked or scared he'd say. After I saw that they send out scouts to find the location and that some items were planted, it became more of a scripted show and not reality.
I quit watching soon after.
So really don't care anymore.
But no Frank or Dani then no show anyway.
100% of these shows are fake. Reality TV doesn’t exist.

Love the show, what a shame. It seems the underdog always gets screwed. It's always difficult playing second fiddle and once you're feelings get crushed, it's very difficult to wear a happy face. I feel so sad for Frank. Wish Mike would come to his senses.

Yes you are right it can be quite debilitating painful and almost impossible to function sometimes, I feel for him for having it I know how he feels and the weight loss will be because of it . Hopefully he will recover enough to live a better life .

Mike probably saw the dollar signs without Frank and since he always made a point to say the show was his idea, he cashed out to take it all. Too bad he didn't see the positives Frank brought.

Without Frank, it is not a show...
When the old man died on pawn stars- the show lost it's appeal, the same results will be without Frank on American Pickers- basically i will be resorting to the reruns - Mike's brother just doesn't have the personality that Frank had - Mike should have contacted Frank over the last two years- this could have been resolved.
Mike did do most of the talking, but I thought their differences offered a good balance and I considered them both important.
I liked Frank.
Always thought Mike had it bad for Danielle.

We All Like Frank, But Honestly He Was A Load. The Only Thing He seemed Really Interested In Were Toys, Signs If They were Cheap And His Knucklehead Obsession; Which He Never Brought To Fruition. He Had To Have Been Paid Handsomely On The Show; So Get The Fish Hooks Out Of Your Pockets Already!!! The Other Characters From Dave To Danielle To Mike The Mechanic In Columbia To Jersey John And Of Course Brother Robby; Bring So Much Enthusiasm Across A Broad Spectrum.
