Because it's primarily for studio monitoring, the way they usually do it is XLR -> sub -> speakers. This is good because the delay caused by the sub's DSP is also added to the speakers and a HP filter is set on the mains. This is helpful because time aligning subs to mains can be overwhelming for most people. For the general consumer, I get you though. I've just seen too many of these products with sub out without the proper delay for the mains to make bass cohesive.
Is there a Kali Audio studio monitor that is NOT the best in its class?... And I would recommend these to any desktop user for any application not just as studio monitors... But if you get these monitors with a decent USB microphone and laptop, you have a professional studio!!!
I am actually comparing these to the KEF LS50 and Genelec 8030c and was shocked that you compared this to them. I know these are probably a step down but for $1200 less, how much of a step down? I am leaning towards the 8030c, as I am a gear head, but I am not rich and it seems my money could be spent better elsewhere (Kali or Rythmik Sub) and with these I will still have a very accurate monitor. I am using these to determine the best mastering of many albums of which I own different versions and want something neutral for that purpose. I don't have the space for my KRK E8s anymore. :( So do you think these would be acceptable for their intended purpose with the Kali or Rythmik Sub?
I think the money is best spent on a sub, and with the money you save with these, you can definitely get one. I don't know about the Rythmik sub for desktop use, but the Kali ones and others designed for monitoring have the proper XLR in/out that work best with these types of speakers. If you got these and the WS6.2 sub, I don't think you would be disappointed. You can get a more capable sub, but it will be much larger, and you'll likely have to use something like the MiniDSP to time align the sub to the speakers which isn't easy to do.
these vs the kanto ora with subwoofer? for a desktop setup. Also, do I require an external dac with these or external dacs are a waste since it utilizes DSP?
Do you have any doubts? But have you seen them? XD Ora's are small and on the desk they look good, elegant without overdoing it. Kali's are an eyesore for how ugly they are, unless you have music production needs, Ora's hands down.
@@canarinis For casual listening only, no mixing or production whatsoever, I find both the kalis and oras ugly to be honest, but yes the kalis are even more ugly especially with the blue LED.
I wouldn't bother with external dacs personally. You will have a great experience with both. The Kanto are much smaller and are more for casual users who don't need extreme accuracy. I think the Kali does sound better though.
@@joentell I was planning on using these with a Topping D50 III but since you mention these use DSP, does this mean that the audio will be converted back to digital before reproduced? I wonder the quality of the ADC. And it does seem to null the use of the topping. :(
@marios3163 I don't worry too much about Dac's unless they're absolutely garbage and I haven't come across that yet. The frequency response is much more important and noticeable and DSP is what you need to optimize that.
I honestly wonder the same, I am in the midth of choosing between those two as Edifier S2000 Mk3 is $350 and these are $299 , respectively I am more interested in having better sound clarity and quality above High, Mid, and low frequencies as I will be using them mainly for DJ mixing
@@joentell I've owned mr4 and they've developed a weird "hsss" that was reproduced on extremely rare occasions. They were great for the money while they were working though.
@@danielangelov91 I have read many reddit threads no one have advised with the MR4, I do think they are a decent choice as everyone is advising with the R1700BT and 1280DBs being great value for money But in terms of sound quality which one between S2000 mk3 vs LP-UNF would have better sound quality above High, Mid and low EQ as I am accompanying my set with an Edifier T5 woofer.
What's the diference between these and the Lp-6 wave 2 ? Can i use them with a turntable ? I guess yes with the rca right ? but are the LP-6 w2/ Lp-8 w2?
Thank you for the great review! How it goes in your speaker leaderboard? And what do you think, this one or Kanto Tuk for desktop listening? Thank you!
Tannoy reveal 402 is a way better deal for 220 dollars and they sound huge. with my geshelli dac with sparkos gives me a 3d sound with plenty of bass and good depth. I have few sound demos in my channel
I've had a T0 a long time ago and T1E. I like these better than both personally, but I do like supporting smaller companies like Vanatoo also. I think when it comes to sound quality, these are better. I can't recall any functionality that the Vanatoo has that I would feel like I'm missing if I had these instead.
How they are able to deliver so much gut wrenching low end with the size of the woofer is beyond me. KALI FTW!!!
Gut-wrenching might be a stretch, considering I have 5 subwoofers in my home theater setup. They have a surprising amount, though.
@joentell I just mean that they are capable of that internal body bass feel =]
Another great review! Enjoy vacation and family time! Safe travels my brother! ✈✈
Good to see another video. Kali does keep doing great stuff. I might still go for Vanatoo for this for versatility.
These are fire. I added bass into them using Peace eq. They sound so much better with eq its crazy and also a dac called DS2 2024 for more power.
Yeah, with Peace or EqualizerAPO or equivalent EQ, you can make these sound pretty much perfect.
Good stuff, I just wish they had a sub out. And maybe an optical/coax input in addition to USB would be a nice bonus.

Would luv to see these vs the new Adam D3V

@@joentell all good bro, enjoy your stay at Aulani
which one do you think is more suitable for mixing and mastering purposes between this and Kali LP6?
Both are good, but these are more compact. The LP-6 can play louder and has deeper bass.
how do these compare to the kanto oras?
That's a great comparison. Maybe, I should make a short about it. These are more accurate, but the ORA's are WAY smaller.

These or Kanto Ora?
Ora are much smaller, so it isn't a direct comparison

i have a question if am using type c will i be able to put a sub with it?
Good question. I think the signal chain needs to be computer -> sub -> speakers, so I don't think it will work.

is there more bass in this than hs5??
