    One thing I noticed in your tutorial is when you’re exporting the alembic you kept the measurement as mm instead of choosing cm. Not sure if that gave anyone else issues but when I did it that way it imported to c4d really small. So I chose cm instead and it worked. Hope this helps!

    • @CGDreamsTutorials
      @CGDreamsTutorials  3 роки тому

      Im using R19 with the best fbx version available for that release, and Marvelous Designer 6.5 I would recommend going the fbx route as that exports both the geometry and animation data. The Obj route would need PLA data exported separately which is a pain and an outdated method. I do think for Mac users that is the only option. I will do another of these videos to see if anything has changed in the workflow as both of these software's are rather old now.

    Is there a way to edit the pose further myself and keyframe it? Mixamo has some bugged out poses that can easily be fixed but when I try to re-pose it just reverts back to the last pose.

    • @CGDreamsTutorials
      @CGDreamsTutorials  2 роки тому

      The limitation is there are many keys, too many in fact that are keyed to hold a pose within an animation. You can use the keyframe reducer within C4D. The best practice now is to use the r21 Mixamo character preset which lets you overide and tweak an animation. I will have a look for you later tonight if I get time.

The only issue I have I when I try to simulate the animation, the Garment layer wont appear so the garment stays static while the character moves, like if they where not attached to each other. the only layer I can see is CINEMA_4D_Main and not the Garment layer...Any help will be highly appreciated!!
    Thanks!!

    • @CGDreamsTutorials
      @CGDreamsTutorials  6 років тому

      Hi. If you can contact me via my website and I will try to help you over email as via here is not ideal. First thing is all garment simulations are done in MD, not in C4D. The Alembic file exported from MD should have the animation on it provided you simulated the animation as shown in video. Once this file is in C4D it should animate. If your using a older version of C4D than r19 then maybe it has issues with alembic files. At no point is the garment stuck to the figure within C4D it just follows its simulated movment which happends to be the same as the figure.

      Weight map is applied when you rig the model with Mixamo. The character originally in C4D can be replaced with the Mixamo one via merge scene, or as in my video, I just loaded in character after it was rigged into a new fresh scene. Nothing was chopped out. The T-pose character is the main character you import into a fresh scene in the case of this video.

      Having bones does not mean the animation is applied to them. If your following this tutorial your see that the imported T pose model has no animation on it, thats why we import the fbx animation then apply it via motion clips, then export the file for Marvelous designer. What you export from Marvelous Designer is just animated clothes.

    • @CGDreamsTutorials
      @CGDreamsTutorials  4 роки тому +1

      I assume your bringing in your own Avatar? You need to prep your model before you bring it in from your 3D modeling app. The pivot of the model should be at the feet and the model should be in centre world space on the X,Y,Z. You can change this within MD but thats unwise as your simulation will be according to the model's wrong position. You can select the model and move it with the gizmo tool handle, or even from simulation properties change the ground collision so its higher or lower, again its best to bring the model in the correct world position and scale for your project.

    • @CGDreamsTutorials
      @CGDreamsTutorials  6 років тому

      The original position for the character needs to be in a T pose. The first Motion Clip is made for this T pose, but make sure you have at least 2 Key frames stored for all joints. I set a 20 frame length for the T pose. You can add the T pose clip back into the timeline at anytime. I suspect that when you made the T pose clip no keys where added.

    • @minhlong92
      @minhlong92 6 років тому

      Thank you very much. I added 2 keys for T pose but it didn't work :(. And one more thing, when I baked down the animation to key frames, the figure had problem. It look like figure can't keep axis or something like that...:(

    • @minhlong92

      I fixed it. I forgot to check "Remove included Animation..." Thank you! But the T pose still gone :(

    • @CGDreamsTutorials
      @CGDreamsTutorials  6 років тому

      After you create the first motion clip for the T pose character there should be a clip already loaded into the Time line. each additional clip made from another rig needs to be made from the same rig used on the same character on another character with the same rig. Also the same root joint just be used for all other motion clips as the Tpose clip. You should be able to add another motion clip after the Tpose, then drag in the Tpose clip again after that. Keep in mind for animation clips you need to add a pivot for each clip to match the position of the feet from the last clip. I cant any further without looking at the scene file.

      Agree, C4D needs to handle higher polycounts better. The newer version of MD does allow for better control over topology where it need more density, this would help performance. Previewing animation while clothes on the character is slow but this does not need to be a problem as you know what it looks like in MD, just have it render it in C4D. ua-cam.com/video/12IFNEtv9vY/v-deo.html
