- Who was Legolas?
Legolas was a Sindarin Elf who was part of the Fellowship of the Ring in the Third Age. Son of the Elvenking Thranduil of Mirkwood, Legolas was Mirkwood's prince, a messenger, and a master archer. With his keen eyesight, sensitive hearing, and excellent bowmanship, Legolas was valuable to the Fellowship in their journey across Middle-earth. He was well-known for becoming friends with the Dwarf Gimli, despite their long-held differences.
After the destruction of the One Ring and of Sauron, Legolas stayed for the coronation of Aragorn and his marriage to Arwen. Later, he and Gimli travelled together to Helm's Deep, visiting the Glittering Caves, and then travelled through Fangorn Forest.
After Aragorn's death, Legolas made a ship in Ithilien and left Middle-earth to go over the sea. His strong friendship with Gimli prompted Legolas to invite him to accompany him to the Undying Lands; making him the first and only Dwarf to do so. Legolas was never seen in Middle-earth again.

We hope you enjoy today's Who Was!
I love Legolas, so yes I did!
Can you please do Elrond next?
I'm a new sub ^^
Thank you for the support! Elrond is on the list to record, so next time I record I will get it done and posted for you!
We did. Crisp work!
I did!! Thank you🤩
Elves: No dwarves have ever gone to the undying lands.
Legolas: But this one is cool so I’m bringing him.
It was more Galadriel putting in a good word for him.
A dwarf breathes so loud we could have shot him in the ark...😏
“And my bow” was the one and only time Legolas spoke to Frodo. At least in the movies.
💢now that’s a series I’d watch. The Legolas and Gimli Adventures.
There was no one for them to fight
@@Sidewinder528 just men vs wild thats all
I’ve been wanting them to make a new movie starring Legolas, but it probably won’t happen 😭
Legend says they're still counting
Not in this day and age, they would recast Legolas as a trans woman and gimli a black 6ft dwarf.
Till he returned to fuck shit up in the world of man with captain jack sparrow
Yeah, this is right
🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
And he changed his name to will turner! 😂
@@KiwiTheFangirl it's a cover name. Legolas was to much know. He take the place of the young will and no one have notice, even the father who do not have seen him since childhood....easy task, just prove no one really care for him before he was gorgeous.
Lmao 🤣
He brought the homie to elf heaven that's so sweet.
There they will coitus forever
@@krioni86sa well that's a visual I didn't need. 🤮
@@krioni86sa hahahaha
@@krioni86sa Hahahahahah
Except legolas and Gimli weren't lovers or gay and projecting your own gayness onto tolkiens work is disrespectful.
Orlando Bloom was the perfect Legolas. ❤
The moment in Fellowship when Gandalf says it's a balrog. The look of barely-controlled terror on Legolas's face makes it clear that he's the only member of the fellowship who understands how bad that is.
Imagine how different the LOTR would be with Bloom as Gimli and Rhyse-Davies as Legolas?
@@joet7136 Haha! Not possible! Different body types.
And the hottest elf ever
u got that right ❤
From a young child, Legolas was always my ABSOLUTE favourite - everything about him was cool. His archery skills, his daggers, how he looked, his persona, hell even his name is cool.
i love legolas very much,,
You misspelled Gimli.
Legolas is really dat dude. Just kicking ass all over the place, and never seeking power.
@@hashimrahman51
Elves aren't literally immortal...
@@shizukagozen777 they are and they aren’t. Even when killed, an elf’s fea(soul) goes to the halls of mandos, where they are eventually revived into a new body. Sometimes this takes thousands of years, and sometimes it happens almost immediately(look up Glorfindel for a good example). So elves are immortal. Except, depending on which work you look at(this changed and evolved as Tolkien wrote), the world of middle earth is not eternal and when it ends the elves end with it. This is why death is called the gift of man. Elves are fated to become nothing when the world ends whereas the souls of men go out beyond the world where none have reported what lies beyond.
Cringe
I just love that he took Gimli with him
That's real friendship there.
He went helm deep into Gimli.
It's only rumoured that Gimli went with him.
The casting of Lee Pace and Orlando was genius.
Yeah but Orlando is hotter
Everyone gangsta until Legolas decides to become a pirate.
Fr
The casting of Orlando Bloom as Legolas was absolute genius! They could not have done better! He was perfection!
Yes perfect eye candy too
He also took Sam with him to the Undying Lands. Sam was titled Ring-Bearer as he held the ring for sometime when Frodo was captured. That alone earned him a place in Valinor.
I think Sam went on a separate ship.
Characters leaving middle earth for the undying lands always gives me a harrowing sense of loss and dread.
It’s like the world has forever lost something one of a kind and it will never recover it.
Jeez that’s deep.
Imagine the other elves reaction when Gimli stepped off that ship in Valinor, he probly immediately started talking shit to them 😂😂😂😂
I love that he and Gimli traveled to parts of Middle Earth that they loved. Best bromance ever!
He carried most of the fights to be honest
Well he's a literal walking aim bot.
That still counts as one
That line by Gimli is such a delight... I hope they make series about these two n their adventures after lotr
If they do that they will just make up 90% of it and will ruin everything , just like the rings of power 🤣
I love when they're talking before the battle and Gimli says he never thought he'd die beside an elf and Legolas just replies, "How about dying side by side with a friend?" and you can see how strong their friendship has become.
One thing we've all learned is no matter the LOTR content, there will always be that one group of disgruntled fans complaining. 🙃
@ yes, just like they're complaining about the Rings of power now.
@ The complaints are justified in the case of The Rings Of Power…
His friendship with Gimli is so wholesome.
In the book it is said that during the war when Legolas passed by the coast of Belfalas he heard the sea gulls crying over the sea.. and that he never forgot the cries of the gulls and so when his time came he decided to sail away to the undying lands across the sea
Legolas: “hey Gimli, there is peace across Middle Earth so I’m going to the Undying lands to increase my kill cou-“
Gimli: *already climbing into the boat* “I will not have any pointy ear outnumbering me!”
Best comment ever!!
Legolas: Galadriel will be there.
Gimli: I’m not to old to climb.
HAHAHAHAHA
also gimli: ugh oh but alright continue *pouts*
@@Reaperofwind Now that's a reunion I'd LOVE to see! Galadriel x Gimli🥰🥰
legolas is my fav character in the lotr
"everybody's favorite character in the lotr."
He is still my fav Elf ever
And the hottest
One does not just walk into Valinor...
True
No.
We sail!
But you can get their by boat!
Haha
Not if you’re Ar-Pharazon
“Idk why, but it makes me sad”
Same:(
If arogorn died would gimli have died also since Dwarfs only live 100 years.
@@UA-camsucks916 they can live far longer than 100 years
yeah the part where he says : he was never again seen in middle earth
@@UA-camsucks916 gimli was 140 during the time of the lotr trilogy.
His kill count was legendary.
I would give my left arm to see a show about the adventures of Legolas and Gimli
It was Galadriel that asked the Valinor to allow Gimli to go to the Undying Lands, without her he would have never been able to go, she also gave Gimli 3 of her golden hairs wben he asked for only 1 after she had denied Feanor 3 times when he asked for her hair....its why he made the Silmarils in the first place...
Galadriel had a soft spot for Gimli, and I love that 🤍 She saw his true worth.
Have you watched the rings of power? What're your reviews about that series? Just asking
@@AmanVerma-qh9jv Galadriel is a strong independent woman, and she beats up teenagers to show it off.
*asked the Valar (Valinor is the place).
@@AmanVerma-qh9jv I know you haven’t asked me, but still giving my opinion - badly directed, badly edited, badly acted, badly scripted…
Legolas is the most underrated warrior in lord of the rings
??
I love that he took his boy with him.
You forgot the bit where he got bored of the Undying Lands and decided to change his name and start fucking around being a pirate.
Legolas departed Middle Earth, towards Valinor because that is the closest place to Tortuga where then he meets a guy whom hadn't been taking a bath for 20 years.
"The prophecy" track from the theatrical release of FotR soundtrack has always been my personal favorite.
Wow I didn't know gimli went over the seas to the undying lands, that's awesome
To die there in peace.
Great at shield surfing too.
Orlando Bloom like every other actor did a perfect, amazing job even when the cast had injuries they didn't complain, they continued doing the scene until Peter Jackson said cut
friendship Legolas & Gimli is the best thing in middle earth for me, that's really wholesome ☺️
Would be a dope spin off
Shout out to LOTR and the Hobit for making us short men feel represented and that we too can be masculine and do great things. 💫
reminds me of a friendship between elrond and durin. Their friendship was so beautiful, I enjoy every second I see Durin
I think it’s really cool that gimli got to go to the undying lands. He certainly deserved it
qué hermoso Orlando Bloom con ese pelo rubio...
Galadriel warned Legolas to "Beware The Cry Of Gulls"!
🤔
Legolas wanted to get the band together too the word best bros for ever to the next level
When I think of Elves this is what I want to see, long straight hair. But when I see Elrond in Ring of Power series, he's not really look like elves.
Omg, i didn't even realize. Since episode 1, I was like man I just cannot see this guy as an elf for some reason. That checks out
I've been in love with Legolas. 💚
Please do Ëarendil and his 1v1 duel with Morgoth, also when he killed Ancalagon The Black. Ëarendil is my favourite charactor from the Silmarillion. Epic
And yet he couldn't stop that one Ork from blowing up the walls of helms deep
To be fair, that guy was terminatoring the arrows lmao
@zbroman z he took at least 2 or 3 arrows for sure! Which is somewhat realistic, if you got shot with arrows in real life, it would not be an immediate death like they show in movies. It would take sometime to bleed out. So you could be a terminator with arrows for a short time until the blood loss takes effect. If they get lucky and hit your heart, lungs, brain, or a major vein/artery, it could be as fast as a minute before death. But if it’s not a vital organ like that, it will probably be longer.
He took gimli with him TwT that’s so cute
All thanks to Galadriel, the unlikely Best Friends gets to be together in Valinor.
awwww Legolas & Gimli together forever 🖤
Can you do Thorin Oakenshield
Legolas : I am going to......
Gimli : Stop there, I am also coming
I love Legolas🤭
Love his bromance work Gimli~ 🥰
My favorite character
Perfect man and friend...okay life is not movie BUT still...
Legolas, son of Legopieces
the last sentence in the video "legolas was never seen in middle earth again" was a lot funnier on top of the black & white image of legolas with a neutral/negative expression
😆😆 made me think it through all over again lol
"They're taking the hobbits to Isengard !"
Imagine the elves after Legolas arrived just be like: your majesty. Took you long enough. You just left your people to rot
Literally the Trademark elf face
Legolas and Gimli's friendship especially highlighted in the books was one of the best things tbh
If Legolas would’ve had a sniping rifle instead of the bow the whole saga would’ve been a 10 min video on YT. 🙂
The glittering caves are behind helms deep
They were accessible to the GBA version of The Two Towers. I was surprised by that location at first since they weren't shown in the movie. They looked pretty majestic though.
This man carried the other 2. If he wasn't there they would have been screwed
Legolas is fineeeee
Sooooooo yummy
I love him ❤️
About Aragorn's coronation... When Legolas showed up, I thought they were getting married or something- 😭
Elegant and strong .
A dwarf breath so loudly I could’ve shot him in the dark
Don’t forget how handsome he is 😏!
Totally eye candy
Legolas
"left middle earth to go over the sea"
to become a pirate?
i think legolas is the best character in LOTR because hes brilliant at archery dude jumped on the heads of dwarfs who were in barrels wich were in the rough current of a river and he surfed on a shield down stairs while shooting tons of arrows he hasn’t even missed once what can the man not do
Hes still alive to this day in valinor
So he never returned to mirkwood to his father Thranduil?😢💔
He my or may not go too idk
Well he most likely did when the war was over to bring elves into Gondor to repair the war torn lands and make them even more beautiful
No, if i remember right, the woodland elves left soon after legolas
I also think after he and gimli finished their trip he went back to his kingdom
Of course he stopped by home after he war but small derails like that are left out.
Thranduil was kind of a prick
You forgot that he lead a group from Mirkwood to ithilian in Gondor and became an Elven lord there while gimli was lord of the glittering caves.
Legolas's gf: So what are you doing today?
Legolas: Oh not much just some hiking, spelunking, and fishing with the boys.
Legolas leaves the chat
Gimli leaves the chat
I have a feeling Tolkien knew he would piss everyone off if they ever separated so he just decided to send them both together
Legolas look older in The Hobbit Franchise, than in LOTR franchise
What a bro 💪
So.. We can have Legolas and Gimli Spin off.. May Be.. not a bad Idea after all 😀😀
One of the biggest mysteries thou that is never explained(I think) and we are not looking at the movies now! Where were Legolas during The events in The Hobbit? He is over 2000 years old so he mustve existed back then!
So he's still alive, nice
After watching all 6movies and heard that he was never seen again in middle-earth make me sad 😞 I guess everything comes to a end,sad for elf who have love ones that are not elf, basically they watch everyone die.
People ask what his purpose is in the story and believe he is somewhat irrelevant. I disagree with that. He did experience growth by developing a friendship with a dwarf; a big deal for an elf. He, Gimli, and Aragorn together so effortlessly dismantled wave after wave of orcs and uruk-hai that the 3 of them instilled enormous hope and inspiration into the hearts and minds of the soldiers around them. That morale boost I think was a game-changer on the battlefield. Legolas and Gimli also acted as a very important support system for Aragorn. I think without Legolas and Gimli, Aragorn would likely not have been able to accomplish all that he did. It was their job to keep Sauron's eye off Frodo. They narrowly succeeded. Everyone needs friends and a support system. That's what Legolas and Gimli were to Aragorn. They also represented the very best of Middle-Earth. One of each of the most powerful peoples of Middle-Earth cooperating and developing a trio of friends despite their differences. They didn't let past racism perpetrated by the others of their respective races get in the way of their camaraderie. They easily moved past it and became best friends; something that I think baffled some of Middle-Earth's inhabitants. They each played an irreplaceable role in Sauron's defeat.
In the Undying Lands.
*Galadriel* "Gimli, it's nice to see you here, as a Welcome gift I give to you 3 golden stran..."
*Gimli* ... "I WANT YOUR PUBES!"
It was Galadriel who invited Gimli to valinor i believe.
🤔🤔 long time since I read the books, but I think it was Legolas who asked Galadriel to intervene so Gimli could come to Valinor.
@@Gaby000999 did not know that
il est beau😍😍😍😍😍
From what I’ve heard of Valinor, why the hell would any one want to return?
Beauty isn’t enough to make up for the terrible treatment of elves of mortal beings
After his tour in the undying lands. legolas was last seen falling of a black hawk helicopter in mogadishu, somalia. That was the last time we see him.
Technically legolas and Aragorn are related
sometimes i do wonder why they didnt take arwen with them on that last ship to the undying lands, why tolkien made it for her to die in grief alone in middle earth after aragorn passed. surely another ship could have been made in advance for her to take in case of that eventuality (aragorn's death), even if all her kin have left middle earth in the early part of the 4th age...
She had forsaken her immortality for her love of Aragorn. Half-elven lines and their descendants are given the opportunity to live as elves or as men. As a result, she doesn’t go to the Undying Lands, but instead, she goes “beyond the world” to a place unknown to even the valar.
This is soooo coool
Note to self: get elf friend
Master Archer Surfer
At the young age I have a crush on him ❤️ I really like when he and Gimli counting how many orcs they're killed while in the war
He is high in my ranking but top 1 is Glorfindel
