Unfortunately the payments were too much, and the engine was toast. I was averaging 22 mpg highway no matter what I did on multiple fuel ups. I’m guessing the rings were shot and compression was bad.
Ive had my 07 si coupe for about 3 weeks now. Bought it from the second owner, relatively stock, and mechanically well maintained. Ive been a b-series guy for 18 years! (Im old) having multiple versions of swapped and factory b-series chassis'. My 8th gen feels like all of those, wrapped into 1, with nice seats and amazing chassis dynamics/handling from the factory, with all the necessities that my 38 yr old ass aparently requires. I am also convinced that this generation of civic is the last of its kind. Your review is spot on. Thank you for it!
Fantastic review. Thank you! Shaky camera aside, along with the great info all I wanted to see was hitting VTEC in regular driving and this delivers!! Well done
I got mine in Dec 2007 new and still have it today! Bone stock and drives like the day I drove it out of the showroom floor. Just passed 150k miles. I’m never getting rid of it.
2007 fg2 bought with 133k for 4.8k, fully built now, blew after 170k, maintain/replace your timing tensioner on time! Pricy but will save your valvetrain in the end, k series are interference engines, if the chain breaks loose the valves with slap pistons, goodluck !
Test drove a bone stock 07 8th gen fiji blue si in the pouring rain yesterday i was blown away how well it handled in the weather i fell in love with it. I test drove one back when they first came out yrs ago but i couldn't afford the 23000 car payment I'm glad that i found one that still has lots of life left in it for a decent price
Awesome review, you have so much passion and it shows when you do voice overs. I also never knew of the throttle input and vtec in the motor. Last of its kind definitely.
I have a 2006 SI. Bought it brand new. Still have it. Love this car. It's my daily driver. It is not the best for interior materials quality, but awesome everywhere else that matters: the ride.
I wish all car ads were like this, then you could actually find the car you want, then companies would actually make a quality car. Plus it would make the consumers feel closer to their chosen company.
JesusIsGOD Me too!! Bought an 09 Civic EX sedan in May 2018 and I absolutely love it. It was quite an upgrade from my 98 Saturn SL2 that would cut off while braking sometimes lol
Just got a 2008 coupe SI and love it! Oh, It was nice to see home in the video - Seahurst Park in the Burien area? Then a ride down Marine View Drive if I'm not mistaken - miss that area. I grew up there, living in New Orleans now.
It's right in the sweet spot of depreciation and value. It's also in the sweet spot for Honda's development, chassis rigidity, and safety standards both weight and actual safety considered.
@Speed Also, becoming very very hard to find stock; I had an 8th gen Lx I loved modding and playing with but keeping my new 8th gen Si stock and in perfect working order is a new frontier-like tinkerer to caretaker (only minor enhancements: aluminum cable & shift bushings, braided clutch and brake lines, K&N drop in, Mugen pads and rotors all round).
Awesome video man. You've performed a great capture of the integrity and beauty of this car. I too just purchased one coming from the 6th gen civics of many many years. Zero regrets to finally owning my dream practical car. ha :) cheers! Sub'd.
I have been a Honda enthusiast for over 15 years owning many (even a turbo delsol si.) Nothing like a 2008 mugen si. It is an excellent example of what sport Honda is supposed to feel like. Not to mention when you get older it's still a savage drivers car that is affordable and collectable. I have not seen another stock mugen since 2010. And modified mugen.... why would you? Maybe an intake, header, hondata, clutch. But don't touch the cat back or suspension!!!!!
Vtec Banger I have a 2009 si W 12000 miles in garage. I love it for 2 years then kept it because I use my truck. How do I put this on auction for civic enthusiasts
Help my son(15 years) to get a 2008 Si Sedan with 140 k bone stoke for $4,800... We just replace the entire suspension, motor mounts, full tune up... Went up to $6 k LOL. Beautiful ride. 🤗
Billy Stocking not true. I upgraded from 2012 civic si to a 2019 civic si. I’ll tell ya, I love my 2019 civic si more than my 2012. I still own my 2012 and still drive it sometimes. The only thing I miss about the 2012 civic si is the vtec and the more aggressive sound. But overall I think the 2019 si is better in my opinion.
Chris J I wouldn’t say waste of money... I’m pushing 300 horsepower right now on my 2019 with just $1,000 into upgrades. Can’t do that with the 2012. Already side by side with new type R. To me it was well worth the money. Glad to be owning two generation Si’s. Maybe in the future I’ll drop in a super charger for my 2012 :).
@Ken Kendo wtf you mean lol a 2019 si has 200hp... my 08 si had 197 at stock now sitting at 350 with just cam and and turbo running 10 pounds of boost... and its faster lighter than that low revving shit you bought
CtheDead209 you must be dumb in the head and not read what I just said. $1,000 into upgrades already put me at 300 horses on these new si’s. Can $1,000 into upgrades put your stock 8th gen si at 350? Nope. Read before you say stupid shit 🤷♂️. Just saying these new generations cheaper to make power since it already comes stock turbo. Never said the older generations can’t make 300 horsepower dumb ass. One of my friends have a turbo RSX type s pushing 320 to the wheels that costs him well over $3,000; which will only cost me $1,000 to get with my 2019.
The only thing missing is a rear wiper blade on the coupes. For years that denoted a proper Japanese sports car. Not much to distract the driver. Minimal cup holders. No mirror on the driver side sun visor. Years ago I had owned a DC2 integra. It’s taken me awhile to replace that car after it being tboned. Just got an 08 si coupe.
saintballadeer milkovich I own an 9th gen and 10gen civic si. I’ve driven my friends 8th gen and compared all the cars, I’d say if u want more torque and more Instant power I’d go for a 9th gen. If u want a high revving car with stronger top end power and maybe in the future add in some aftermarket parts I’d go for a 8th gen due to the fact that it’ll respond better with aftermarket parts and get more power gains out of it.
Update: The Si has been sold and I’ve picked up a 1st gen CR-V.
I may do another video on it if there is interest.
Why did you sell it?
aww
I would love to see a cr-v 1st gen video.
Just posted one a while back

Just picked up 1 owner all stock 8th gen coupe. 100k miles dealer maintained its whole life for 6k. I love it.
Tom Morello that’s a good price, I am picking up a sedan with 112k for 8. Can’t wait to drive it.
Got mine 120k miles 5.5k
142 6k

How many miles
My first car. I love 8th gen civics. Very reliable.

I mean it's a spaceship compared to focus from 2006 or a golf and similar.
@@alexgdaq8146 ? ? ?
Who is that and what specifically am I looking for when looking this person up?
I feel this has changed my life in deep and meaningful ways.
Kasey Smith Glad to hear. Thanks for the support!

This was my dream car since it came out, and finally got one! Great review! Subbed

I still keep coming back to this video

Great video. Definitely a contender on my list for my new car. Love the sounds of the 8th gen Si.

This is the best review of any car I have ever watched. Great Video!!! Earned yourself a sub.
Thank you brother!
This is my achievable dream car. I can’t wait till I get my hands on one. I won’t ever let it go.
@6:30 Beautifully said
One of the best engines ever made

Shaky camera just makes it seem faster.

So you have a 2009 si and still have the grinding and pop out issues?!?!? Dang I thought they fixed that after 2009, nice vid btw
Good shit bro
KillBr3acK I appreciate it!
I still have my 2007 with 184k miles and never going to se it I'm just gonna get a new angine
Same here 07 Sedan-205k! Never! ✌🏽😎
They sell new engines for our cars? K20z3?
I love my fa5! I got the Navi touchscreen and xm radio and in looovvee!
This is my dream car..
This is a quality video

I absolutely loved the video, and your style! Long live the eighth gen!
(๑╹◡╹)ノ"
How many miles do you have on it man? Very nice video btw!!!
120,000!
I appreciate it, family
I've had more expensive cars, v8s and i came back to the Si.
Wow great job!
I love my SI
Good Job Man
How does he have such high revs is he using gear 2 all the way up at 40-50
Im gonna buy sooner or later, which would you guys preffered 8th gen or 9th gen?
saintballadeer milkovich 8th
8th for sure.
saintballadeer milkovich I own an 9th gen and 10gen civic si. I’ve driven my friends 8th gen and compared all the cars, I’d say if u want more torque and more Instant power I’d go for a 9th gen. I have the si coupe and most of the people I know hit there heads in the passenger seat and the back.
Recently found 1 for 19k lol the prices have sky rocketed
Wow that’s insane
Love it but I wish I could make mine faster for under $5K....theres no way to do that on this car. My weekend car is a Vette.
Plenty of proven, affordable (less than 4k) turbo kits out there that can get to 400hp.
5/10 of the pedal 😂
You mean 1/2 right
joe2k he was rating it on a scale of 1-10 pal
The math is mathing. I'm not a math asian
Is that seahurst beach ?
It is
Honda would make a good car/engine for a few years then change it and screw it up
Love my 09’ FG2..🥰 wish I wasn’t in a communist state so I could put real upgrades..
Totally feel you on this. Washington state just got rid of emissions testing
The best si... Raw no stability control 8500 rev limit double wishbone makes all the diff the limited slip is awesome
The base has 140 128 the si has 197 139 lb ft torque..b4 3k it's hard to keep up with traffic... K24 is where it's at
What if we were the traffic?
This car does in fact have a multi-link double wishbone suspension in back
The naturally aspirated goodness.. No turbos hurr
My Fg1 has 225k and runs great.. Guna get a Fg2 here soon
Rowing a k20 is eargasmic
It only has a hundred and thirty-nine pounds. It is lacking in the torque department you have to rev the s*** out of it
8500 rev limit
Fg2 ftw
