I'm Ecuadorian like Lonesome George was, I got to see him in person in Galapagos. I remember seeing the efforts of the people and scientists to try to save him and his species. I'll miss him.

It’s been 10 years now since we lost Lonesome George, the very last Pinta Island tortoise.
It's 11 o'clock an fucking night and now I'm sad about a Tortoise. This is a greater tragedy than Harambe.

I also saw George in the Galapagos before he died. I had forgotten how tall he was, but that he was. He seemed older than his age (80s) and he definitely looked lonely, like he could feel the weight of being the last of his kind.
