What’s funny is that I play I console and never turned on Ana’s friendly aim assist for healing so I always sucked at it. I got to plat ending games with like 7k damage and 4K healing from just spamming the tank.
Some gold dps is going to see this and get mad because they think supports are there only to heal 😭

One thing I always have to remember when it comes to watching high ranked support players is, in higher ranks they do not need to heal as much! As the others in the team have better positioning and can focus more on supporting the team than healing..
In low ranks (I’m bronze) We are expected to heal a lot more due to bad positioning. Yes we will have those games where we can support more. BUT, as a support in low ranks your expected to heal more than dps.
I remember hearing a statement that said If you as a bronze support play like you’re a GM, you won’t get anywhere. You need to play within what’s expected from your level
Great game. I do have games here and there as well, where my damage is a lot higher than on average.
But I switched my playstyle as well couple weeks ago. Before i was basically just playing as healbot, now I look more often for finishing shots, or damage in general when teammates are topped off.

Tank and dps so full of shit they never help the back line. Never aware when there’s a player missing in front of them. Especially with the new Mauga Tracer combo against an Ana. This is why we do dmg. You have to learn to fend for yourself. No one realistically turns around and help supports. Especially during flanks

I would like you to test ways for supports to spend less time healing and reduce the impact of healing on the game. Allies that go more than 5s without taking damage receive healing 3x the healing and would reduce the amount of normal healing in combat, in addition to other adjustments. For example, Baptiste could have a 3s cooldown for each M2 shot, but would heal 50hp/s for 2s. Same thing for Ana, the shot would heal 60 hp/s for 2s and the rest would go through the target and cause damage to enemies. Mercy would heal 80 hp instantly right after flying to the ally, then only heal 40 hp/s while connected.

How do you deal with tracers? I keep having issues with them. Tips?
what helped me was getting getting better at sleeps and good with aim. you can usually hit a tracer once or twice while they are attacking you, they will recall and u sleep them then nade. They have no recall and can usually kill them or make them run away
There are custom games where you can practice sleep darts and practice recall prediction - you can probably find the codes in mL's Twitch chat commands or look them up. It also helps in general to take safe positions on high ground, track Tracer's general position as much as possible and keep your other support's LoS in mind when you're running away. Also, don't be shy to switch heroes to something like Bap, Kiriko, Moira or other supports that are self-sufficient and mobile, if she keeps getting a lot of value off of you. You can't force Ana into 100% of the games and that's OK.
P. S. Another little trick I've seen mL do several times is to run *towards* the Tracer when he thinks she's about to pulse bomb as a lot of Tracers will pulse bomb ahead of you in the direction they think you will be running away. Running towards them at an angle is a lot harder to predict.

I guarantee you the people that are mad are DPS players that dont know how to kill support. Supports are not suppose to be helpless. They need to be dealing damage too, otherwise they wouldn't HAVE weapons to deal damage with.

I’ve had a lot of games where dps got mad from seeing support dealing with any kind of dmg. The shittier they are the lower tolerance they have to see supp dealing dmg. We got yelled for dps, bruh 500dmg and they got mad. They are mad because they can’t kill nothing. Support can heal them not to aim assist their shots

@@MothGumow I'm a support player too, but I also play DPS. Frankly, if you can't kill the opposite support as a support, then stop wasting your time and just focus on your team.
If we're losing, I'm DPS, and the enemy supports are backpacking those dummies... I would switch to something to target them, either a flank (reaper, tracer or sombra) or a precise shooter (widow, sojourn, ash).
And shit, if I'm support and the DPS isn't doing it's job and not paying attention, I go to Moira and do it myself.
Supports, not even mercy and ana, are immune to anything. They can be taken out in seconds by good DPS. There's no excuse.
@@MothGumowI play all roles equally and the only time where I have this issue is when fighting brig. I get that she is anti dive but she is literally immortal when she gets rally and don’t let her get boosted. The rest of them are fine. A lot of players just don’t want to be patient. Instead of diving the support with all their cooldowns up why not flank when they’re distracted and kill them. I’ve seen so many complaints about supports when a lot of Dps players take duels with supports just to panic when the support fights back. A lot of Dps hero’s have bailouts too people just like to ego fight and get tilted when they lose. Tank is god awful rn so they get a pass but notice how most tank players are saying the role feels like support in ow1. It’s boring and unfun so yeah I can see why supports are more aggressive now. The devs just need to fundamentally adjust the game.

Normally when I play Ana I usually dpsing alot but this makes me a huge flag for the enemy team and I got hard chased lmao, problem is that my other support never look at me so I tends to die a lot playing this style. Still, it’s way more fun to play like this

That’s how you can have a SUPPORT that isn’t a healbot but also isn’t a DPS that can heal, look at bap, extreme mobility; and immortality on a CD, his heals have a good range on them too, if you HARD NERFED his damage and lowered immortality CD to 10 seconds and then nerfed his heals, Bap would still be STRONG, it’s like when blizzard tries to think of Utility to give new supports the utility is damage

Theres a difference between DPSing as a support and a dps support. And that is that a dps support doesnt do ANY healing (except for indirectly healing ie moira healing orb, baps aoe heal etc). ml7 does some healing in this video, so hes not really a dps support.
Or at least they spend like 80% of the time trying to damage verse heal. Like if you have a one shot teammate and a full hp enemy in your line of sight, you priority should be to heal, not dps the enemy. If your ally and the enemy are both one shot, I can see it going either way, but healing typically is easier to do than damaging just based off of mechanics, and you’re probably closer to your teammate too, so you should probably heal
I just throw a purple orb and heal my teammate with my main heal in that situation
When i play miora i litteraly have more kills more damage and more healing then everybody in the match

ML7 has a tutorial video about quick scoping. Basically you have to fire at the right timing and do it really quick, it takes some practice tho.

Supports will always be the scapegoat sadly. To think that because someone can heal their teammates should equate to them also not being able or allowed to kill you is stupid.

The fact that the overwatch community has been having this fucking discussion for years is funny to me. And the fact that its still going is just hilarious to me. Like its really fucking stupid. The name doesn't matter at the end of fhe day. Support or Healer. You heal/support your team when they need you, try to kill/dps when they don't need you. Like why is this a difficult concept for OW players to grasp? You would assume its the one thing they would do on a fucking first person shooter. Shoot things.
Not even Final Fantasy XIV players struggle this much and most of them are pretty dumb. The role is called healer but like 95% of the players know to dps down the boss when the team got enough HP to not die. Like no one just sits there doing nothing until the team needs healing again outside of people who literally just started the game and went with healer first. But by the end of the first dungeon they pretty much understand how it works. So its pretty telling of the OW community. Jesus.
But I'll be fair. The balance of this game has always been pretty bad or mediocre at best. But people do love to complain about everything even when the game might seem to finally take a step in the right direction only to get fucked over.

mL7 I love your videos but this stuff is killing me in the lower ranks. I often get supports who can neither dps or heal :( and I just imagine they watched a video like this.
Nah, if they can't do either it wouldn't matter if they watched this video or not. In fact, in lower ranks aggressive plays will secure wins a lot more often on support. I've started in bronze (back in OW1) and last season, finally, managed to keep up a stable rank in Platinum. It's OK to try and fail the aggressive plays, as long as you try - and it's OK for other players to try and fail too. If you never play greedy, you will never be able to find out how much you can get away with.
Just because blizzard misnamed it support and completely screwed up the balance of their HEALER'S doesn't mean they aren't meant to primarily heal. When Healer's have dps nukes, more bullets for dps than healing shots, and consistently do more damage than dps there's a problem.
Here are the fixes:
1. Change the name to Healer's
2. Remove all dps ultimates from Healer's
3. They can only do 1 damage a shot, 2 for head shots.
4. They can't kill anyone. They can bring them to 1 hp but never 0.
Problem solved. Now you have Healer's and not dps that need to heal sometimes.

It doesnt matter what you call them, what you shoot as ana all comes down to situational awareness, and constantly claiming do more damage on the role does nothing but tells people struggling on the role that they should go for more aggressive plays, which is something they arent ready for.
It goes like this (For a Main Heals type of support like bap, ana, or moira, but especially to ana)
Learn to Keep up the team---->Learn to Survive in most scenarios------> Learn to use defenses as offensives (When necessary)---> Improve on all three things and you will get better no matter what you call it
