Hi, I'm a mo cap performer and wanted to share a painful story of mine involving the remake of RE 2. Might make the agonizing regret somehow berable...:) I was training my voice regarding voice acting since 2007. Several years later - by accident - I did some modeling jobs and focused more on a raw motion/performance capture skills, leaving voice acting behind a bit. In late November of 2015 I was in contact with Capcom about the motion capture role of Leon for the 2019 RE2 Remake. I lost the part early on. Now, many years later when I see how successfull these remakes are (now with RE 4 remake released) I can't believe I squandered such an opportunity. It goes without saying that in this business one audition can change your whole life. I'm trying not to give up though, I recently was approached by Platige Image about my latest voice demo but I feel like it's kinda a castle made of sand. PS. Great Video!
Hey, no need to feel sorry, this is a world with endless possibilities, you can't imagine the amount of incredible actors that probably are still in pain over parts they either passed on or lost to others, but ended up getting other iconic roles, your time will come.

Remake Leon is just as good as the OG but Paul was just perfect. OG Krauser as well. Overall the voicing for the remake is wonderful but the only one I feel they did better was Ashley because she was extremely annoying to hear. Ada could’ve had better lines because she was more witty but yea lol
OMG how am i realizing just now that Luis og voice is the same as Spider-Man ps1? I played those games a lot back in the day but never put two on two together!
I really love both Leon’s Va’s the new one fits with Leon’s model in the remake. Leon looks like he’s been doing this for a while and is just tired of this shit you can see it by the bags under his eyes you can tell he has a lot of experience and the new voice fits that perfectly having a serious tone yet when he cracks jokes the voice makes it sound believable. I won’t lie I didn’t really feel comfortable with it when I heard it in the trailers because I’ve heard Paul’s leon so many times but once I started playing it it just grew on me
I think that's the case with most of the new voice cast... Initial reactions are off, but then they start growing on you after a while, especially the Merchant. While I love Mercier's take, Adamthwaite is just so damn cheery I love it. "Welp (chews candy bar) break's over, I s'pose."
Playing Seperate Ways now, almost finishing. Ada's va sounds just bored reading off her lines like it's Tuesday, no emotion and when she gets her eyes pushed back to her brain by one of the villagers, her pain sound is equivalent of getting a pinch. Albert Wesker sounds like a disgruntled old client who's never satisfied in his life.
I had no idea Saddler was voiced by Michael Gough in the original. He also does the voice of the Carmine brothers in Gears of War. That's crazy. Most of the new voices are pretty good honestly apart from Ada and Saddler IMO. Vastly prefer their older VA's.
Man really I can't hear anything that sounds like carmine. All I'm hearing is skyrim belongs to the Nords and face your death with courage theif sovengard awaits.
Original Leon: charming professional agent Remake Leon: college math whiz Original Ada: mysterious, seductive spy Remake Ada: midly tired receptionist Original Ashley: naive kidnapped victim Remake Ashley: sorority girl on a night out RE voice acting has been bad for years at this point. I'm not surprised they dropped the ball with this one
The actors in the remake did an excellent job, I believe in their talent, but the voice acting in the original is much better in my opinion, I think the voices fit the characters very well. I felt this difference mainly on Krauser and the merchant, it's strange but it's a great job.
It appears I’m alone on this one, but all og voices were much better I’ll specially miss Luis and Salazar. Except maybe for Ashley, Big cheese as a close second
@@neamraven look I love it but og re4 is definitely not top of the shelf acting like people make it out to be and I'm not saying it's bad before you get your pitchforks.
They did a great job with casting in both games. Leon still sounds badass but more of a natural evolution from Re2R, and I’d say the best overall performance was Jim Wards version of Krauser. God he sounded so menacing in the original, yet I understand what they might’ve went for in the remake. Salazar sounds more psychotic in the new one, with respect to how much they fleshed out that portion of his backstory through notes. When you see how much care the developers put into building on the lore, you see how a lot of the character adjustments made sense. I also think it’s horrific how much hate the VA for Ada got. She sounded fine to me and if you want the sultry version then play the original. Like with Leon, the version portrayed in the newer one made more sense relative to the overall canon.
I do prefer how colder new Ada sounds. She's guarded, she knows Leon's gonna be real pissed when he sees her. I do agree that she has some lines delivered a little flatly, but overall she grew on me and I just prefer the colder tone. It's awkward acting all flirty around a man you manipulated 6 years ago and who thought you dead especially when you're a spy who just has no time for this kind of thing. She's keeping her boundaries. I really like that.
IMHO everyone’s voice really fits the look of their characters; like the Ashley comparison the way she was originally animated it made her look much younger than the remake and I thought both voices fit their respective selves. This was really cool to see though!
The only new voice actor that I would prefer the original is the new Ashley voice actress. Krauser voice actors were a tossup for me. But other than that, the original voice actors were better including the Leon Kennedy, Merchant, Ada Wong, Sadler and Salazar and Albert Wesker voice actors. P.S. Speaking of Wesker voice actor, it is a tossup between Richard Waugh and DC Douglas in terms of best Albert Wesker voice actor.

@@notBrocker better yes, but the voice acting of some of the characters is really bad, also some of the cutscenes are definitely better in the original tbh.
I like almost all of the new cast. I'm glad Nick Apostolides from RE2r was brought back to play Leon. I just wish Jolene Anderson would've returned too since her and Nick had such good chemistry. However, I really don't care for new Wesker. Wesker's voice is so iconic, and despite multiple actors playing him throughout the years he's had a consistent quality and sound to his voice, it always has an underlying snarkiness to it and a little nasal as he speaks from the back of his throat. Wesker's new voice, on the other hand, is just a pretty standard gruff voice that I don't think fits the character.
The reason that Wesker's voice sounds different in this game is because they didn't tell the actor that he was playing Wesker until after he auditioned. The actor said all they gave him was that he was a video game villain, and he took it in his own direction. After he learned he was voicing Wesker he asked them if they wanted him to change anything about his performance, but they told him no. If you want to hear him talk more in detail about this, I'm pulling this from an interview the actor who played Wesker did with the UA-cam channel Residence of Evil.
I think the tone of the game has shifted a bit, and to me all of their voices match the character they're meant to play at the time they were meant to voice them. Saddlers original voice will have me thinking of Skyrim now for the rest of time though.
man the new voice actors are pretty good, (except ada who sounds very monotone and no longer sounds like a seductive fem fatale) but the old voice actors will forever be the real G's for me
Hehe. Funny how in remake everyone fights for the 1st place as the most shady, serious and sad (voice acting wise). Even the merchant. Can't feel the swag
Wooooow so OG Luis Sera and Spider-Man PS1 had the same voice actor all this. Hmmmm no wonder he sounded so familiar and always thought of both PS1 and The Animated Series Spidey when hearing him
Original voices are WAAAY better. No I’m not blinded by nostalgia, I literally played OG RE4 mid last year. The only voices I had problems with in the remake are Ada, Ashley and Krauser (I guess Saddler too)
Yeah everybody did a great job for their character… except Ada’s voice “actress.” She gave no effort at all and sounds bored af the whole time. Capcom cared more about woke points than hiring a woman that can actually *act* her role.
@@amidoesarts sadily because capcom wants to "represent" and wants a Asian actor to voice ada instead of a Caucasian even if that means less quality of acting. Ashley sound cute in the remake😊
Stop cappin
@@mikedancoolguy4574 It's correct.
Yeah she’s wayyy less annoying
Where you see failure, there is experience
Where you see loss, there is growth
Where you see luck, there is also opportunity
I wish you good luck ! Thanks for sharing your story !
Sorry. Sometimes that happens. Whatever you choose to act in, I’ll be waiting. I’ll come back to this comment and say “I saw this guy become famous mocap actor!”
I’m cheering you on. Good luck, friend 👍👍👍
@@TheDudeOfSteel87 Thanks. The one mistake I regret making: I didn't advertise myself form the get go that I can do both: mo cap and voice over work. In the end Capcom chose a Romanian model and an American voice actor; I should've stated right away that potentially I can do both, like Eric Johnson in SP Blacklist.
I just wish they could at the very least have brought back Paul Mercier for the merchant in the remake.
sadly from what i've heard he can't voice act anymore.
Other than Ashley I prefer all the old voice actors especially Ada’s!
The new voice actress for Ada sounds too robotic
Bro ashley way better now
@@cbandit7715 no lol
@@chainjail4834 bro prefers the anime little girl voice
@@chainjail4834 shes like ana ctual charachter and not jsut a ehiny child that actually hs good chemistry with leon and her voice acting actually maes her soudj like a real teen or young adult woudl sound or say
Oh, I didn't realise that Leon and the merchant are brothers in the OG😂
Remake Leon is just as good as the OG but Paul was just perfect. OG Krauser as well.
Overall the voicing for the remake is wonderful but the only one I feel they did better was Ashley because she was extremely annoying to hear.
Ada could’ve had better lines because she was more witty but yea lol
I like Nick more idk maybe because I haven’t played the original but man Ada voice sucks in the remake
Yeah the OG Leon was better. Ada has good lines, the delivery was just so bad as if she just read the lines and left.
For me ashley dosent sound that bad and in the video we hear that she have like more guts that the remake
That explain it all! The merchant is Leon and Leon is the merchant! My god! It all makes sense now!
Crazy to think they used Michael Gough for Saddler. I can hear Rolaf in his voice of Saddler.
In case you wonder how Saddler does his sermons, imagine Heimskr's sermon, but replace Talos with Plaga
Dude is Leon and Merchant at the same time, absolute beast.
I haven’t heard ONE voice that’s better than the original apart from mayybee the merchant
It's crazy how much more realistic new audio sounds like
I'd personally wished the kept the old voices for Ashley, ada and the merchant
Whut Ashley, hell no, her og voice is so annoying
I had no idea Saddler was voiced by Michael Gough in the original. He also does the voice of the Carmine brothers in Gears of War. That's crazy. Most of the new voices are pretty good honestly apart from Ada and Saddler IMO. Vastly prefer their older VA's.
Man really I can't hear anything that sounds like carmine. All I'm hearing is skyrim belongs to the Nords and face your death with courage theif sovengard awaits.
He voiced jarl balgruf in skyrim.
They did Ada dirty 😑
Yes right
FACTS
the new one sounds like she got a dick up her ass
The worst VA I ever heard
@@friedchicken4735 that voice would be bad in any role but the fact it is supposed to be ada is really embarrassing
They should have keep Ada voice actress from the RE2R
Original Leon: charming professional agent
Remake Leon: college math whiz
Original Ada: mysterious, seductive spy
Remake Ada: midly tired receptionist
Original Ashley: naive kidnapped victim
Remake Ashley: sorority girl on a night out
RE voice acting has been bad for years at this point. I'm not surprised they dropped the ball with this one
Old Leon and Ada cast was perfect
I was today years old when I realized that 2005 Ashley is also Sandy Cheeks and Cindy Vortex
Holy hell, Deckard Cain was Saddler?? Never knew that.
The actors in the remake did an excellent job, I believe in their talent, but the voice acting in the original is much better in my opinion, I think the voices fit the characters very well. I felt this difference mainly on Krauser and the merchant, it's strange but it's a great job.
Not strange but yeah me to i just think OG voice sound better
krauser in remake sounds like 17 year old exaggerating his voice
I wish Ada kept her style. I'm happy with Ashley sounding so different though haha.
Michael Gough voice sounds familiar, then I remember. Skyrim.
It appears I’m alone on this one, but all og voices were much better I’ll specially miss Luis and Salazar. Except maybe for Ashley, Big cheese as a close second
Nah you’re not alone, I agree. The original voices sounded more over the top but it fit so well.
Definitely not alone. Most of the original voices are objectively better acted.
I only think Luis and slightly hunnigan is better. I preferred the og for everyone else. They butchered Ada, saddler, and krauser
@@Cruxis_Angel luis was my favorite from the og, I don’t like at all the new Luis :(
@@neamraven look I love it but og re4 is definitely not top of the shelf acting like people make it out to be and I'm not saying it's bad before you get your pitchforks.
Ada Wong no.
Micheal Gough sounds like a Nord from Skyrim
the original voice actors were just so good
The only new voice actor that I would prefer the original is the new Ashley voice actress.
@@123ucr yes the actors back in the mid 2000s were too good at what they did ,it’s like they were made to voice them .Instead of in the remake where the voices seem super off and doesn’t feel right

I think the one thing I wish they included with the voices for ganado's and the chief was the animal sounding voices. They said they mixed the voices with animal sounds, so they sound more like monsters.
It’s something about the originals that’s just so much BETTER!
The original sounds arcadey, fun and not so serious.
Im yet to play the remake though.
One word nostalgia
The remake is way better
@@notBrocker better yes, but the voice acting of some of the characters is really bad, also some of the cutscenes are definitely better in the original tbh.
@@notBrocker Only in terms of graphics. How old were you when the original came out I wonder?
Nostalgia
OG saddler just sounds like yarl balgruf and I cant unhear it please help
He delivers the sermons like Heimskr
Man the old Wesker was something
Agreed. I hate Wesker's new voice.
Saddlers original voice will have me thinking of Skyrim now for the rest of time though.
man the new voice actors are pretty good, (except ada who sounds very monotone and no longer sounds like a seductive fem fatale) but the old voice actors will forever be the real G's for me
Ada’s not that bad it’s Wesker’s new voice that sucks
@@517Spidy I think they're both awful lol. But I care more about Wesker😅
Paul Mercier, Carolyn Lawrence, Jim Ward, and Michael Gough are all legendary voice actors
After playing re4 since my childhood, Today I knew that merchant's voice is also Leon's voice
Wait until you find the merchant is all in Leon's head!
@@neamraven ☠️☠️
Hehe. Funny how in remake everyone fights for the 1st place as the most shady, serious and sad (voice acting wise). Even the merchant. Can't feel the swag
I like Rino Romano. He was a good Spider-Man in the PS1 era and also Rikimaru from Tenchu 2 and Batman in The Batman
Lord Gohda in Tenchu 2 was voiced by Saddler's va. Small world, eh?
I thought that the new Ada was being voiced by a black woman. Turns out that Hunnigan was blacked. Even her model went from white to latino/black
When you think about it, Ashley Graham's voice in the OG sound a lot like Claire's with Alyson Court 🙂
Cindy Vortex from Jimmy Neutron 😊
Crazy to think that the same person who voices Sandy Cheeks voiced Ashley in the original
Michael Gough is everywhere in Skyrim -- I recognized right away. The most notable character of his in TESV would probably be Jarl Balgruuf.
Wooooow so OG Luis Sera and Spider-Man PS1 had the same voice actor all this. Hmmmm no wonder he sounded so familiar and always thought of both PS1 and The Animated Series Spidey when hearing him
Both is good, but you just cant beat Paul Mercier as Leon, he really hit the nail and created Leons voice for the generations to come
I was really hoping to hear DC Douglas at the end for wesker, REALLY hope they bring him and Roger Craig Smith back if they do an RE5 remake
i highly doubt dc will ever voice him again. he apparently is a slime ball so theyre avoiding him.
Or at the very least use the dbd voice actor, the one in this game sounds so generic it hurts
Don't count on ever count on getting either back if Capcom keeps going non-union.
They won't bring back those voices because they want to establish a new timeline. They're rebooting the series with these remakes (re-imaginings)
The Ada and Krauser remake voices IMHO could’ve been a lot better..
I keep laughing at remake Ada voice me actually
the original design and voice cast is far superior
Paul Mercier Also Voiced Leon Kennedy In Resident Evil 2 And RE4 Of The Darkside Chronicles
Original voices are WAAAY better. No I’m not blinded by nostalgia, I literally played OG RE4 mid last year.
The only voices I had problems with in the remake are Ada, Ashley and Krauser (I guess Saddler too)
While I will miss the original voice actors, I must say that the new cast has done an excellent job.
Yeah everybody did a great job for their character… except Ada’s voice “actress.” She gave no effort at all and sounds bored af the whole time. Capcom cared more about woke points than hiring a woman that can actually *act* her role.
