    it’s wild that people give him money when he’s filming with a camera. How are so many people like “the guy holding his camera in one hand and phone in the other with his friend doing the same thing? yeah he needs bus fare”

    • @FlubberGamer
      @FlubberGamer 8 місяців тому +12

      The Japanese are generally kind people, plus what he was asking for is a relatively small amount of money. Given that the Japanese are also generally more introverted than the British, or especially Americans, and a small fee to escape from social interaction makes much more sense.

      @@FlubberGamerplus i doubt they get asked as much. there’s so much homelessness where i live i get asked for change 3 times before i cross a street. I think japan has one of the lowest rates for homelessness

      Everything in life is about perspective. Think about 2 annoying guys with cameras in your face.
      If it were me, I'd give them bus fare just to make them go away faster

    As a former resident of japan(stayed there for a while for university) the ticket holder will not care. I saw a guy once be legitimately sick and even after vomiting on the floor the ticket holder still called the police on the station and the guy was detained.

    I skipped my cities bus fare all the time, they'd just give out little sheets of paper that expire at a certain time, but you could easily just cover up the expiration time and none of the bus drivers ever wanted to take the time to ask you to move your fingers (except for a couple but that was easily explained by "whoops musta read it wrong, my b" and then I just get on the next bus and they accept it lmfao). So i did always pay, but I'd buy one bus ticket and get the whole day free

    • @noa1175

      Japanese ticket systems are crazy complicated and different public transportation requires a special ticket, sometimes two types of tickets for some cases. For example different routes on the subways and so on. I’ve understood it as super complex, obviously I’m not an expert but yeah

    Idk why, but it's pretty acceptable to go on trains in the uk without a ticket. I'd say at least 75% of young people in the uk have got on a train without paying, and its honestly strange to see people describing it is uncomfortable to be round people doing it
    They're also massively overpriced in the uk compared to the rest of Europe and way more unreliable

    I didn't even think about the Ryan Trahan penny series. The most recent one he genuinely travelled to 3 or 4 different countries starting from a penny, and since in the past whoever gave him something for that penny has also allowed him to keep the penny (i.e. gave him the item for free) it would definitely be possible and entertaining to travel the world for free... Without breaking a single law.

    Fidias has some really quality videos on his channel and an overall good story.
    He’s from a small island in Europe so some of these things that we see as scumbag moves (not excusable but to better understand) he may just not know better with English not being his first language, and the Americans who hes appealing to not being his culture. Is what he did/does sometimes right? No. Does it mean he’s a terrible person? Maybe but I don’t think it can be summed up that easily

    I feel like if this guy went to nyc and hopped a turnstile no one would be talking about this at all. People are so weird about japan this isn’t disrespectful to their culture the only people this harmed was anyone who wanted to use the bathroom. It’s crazy to me that normally reasonable people are rooting for someone to be arrested and even jailed for what normally is a finger wag level of crime.

      Japan cares about this a lot, and you seem to forget the fact that xenophobia towards foreigners is already big in Japan. The only thing this asshole is doing is making everyone else look bad, so yeah I hope he gets fined thousands, is permanently banned from the country, or spends years in jail. Hopefully all 3.

      Besides the difference in being a taxpayer in the US and getting fucked over by your gov all the time and not being one when ur a guest in a country. Its because hes filming it for profit. If he got arrested for doing increasingly insane shit on the metro for profit people would have the same reaction. People don't care if you hop the turnstile if ur broke and if you do it cause your edgy/politicians are aholes, everyone understands the risk ur taking and would shrug at ur summons to a court/ticket which is all you get.

      Right? Like whichever Paul brother did the suicide Forrest video, that is disrespectful to Japanese culture! Skipping out on a bus or train fare is negligible and yet fidias is being attacked and those two bozos are out there scamming everyone

    • @e.d.5766
      @e.d.5766 8 місяців тому +2

      I don't care that he got on and didn't pay, I care that he did that and locked himself in the bathroom the whole time, inconveniencing everyone else in the carriage. That's more like hopping a turnstile, recording yourself, then using your body to fully block an exit from the Subway so people have to go to the other end of the carriage to get off. Scam the train line, sure, but don't make life worse for everyone else while you do it. It's also very different to commit a minor crime and to promote committing a minor crime to your child audience, you shouldn't go to jail for shoplifting a bottle of water, but if you do that and tell kids to, that's way worse.
