I've been looking at the Army of Thror a lot. I might start it towards the end of next year. I think there are some interesting-looking yellow alliances. In a yellow alliance, you don't take Thror, but Thrain is still a great leader and he actually kills stuff. My favorite yellow alliance I saw was just grabbing a wizard from the White Council, preferably Saruman. Adding in some potent magic can be quite enhancing and I find it doesn't hurt the numbers too bad since the dwarves die so slowly. Great video!
Some of the nicest warrior models in the game, I always wanted this. Last Christmas got one painted (far better than I can do!) And love playing with them. Great video, thanks for sharing
In my opinion all the dwarven factions share something in common (iron hills to a lesser extend but khazad dum and army of thror in any case): Difficulty to play: High. Maybe one of the highest of all factions. But maybe this category is a bit obscured of what it really means. If it means "any beginner can shove high defence models into the enemy army" then that would be correct at easy. If it is "have a decent chance to perform well in any scenario" that is not easy for any dwarf faction at all. Only the best players can pull this off. Strong and expensive heroes lacking mobility and magic defence, mediocre shooting at best, none in case of army of thror, less than mediocre in case of khazad dum. No magic. One/none cavalry options. Mobility to get anywhere in general. Low might on any points level (in comparison to most other armies).
A fair point, the lack of mobility is really difficult to manage for so many scenarios. The low might is also rough when you're more likely to have to burn it on marches than in other factions
Is a thror dale alliance strong? I feel like thror and dale synergies well together using dale archers with that f3 and grim hammers as front liners, And potentially running dual windlance at higher point games
OTs run this a few times and had some success- it still has the flaws of no cavalry, but they definitely work well together for the reasons you've said- Onod
Just getting into the game, and found your channel, very informative! I look forward to when you guys talk about Lothlorien

They're so solid in game, never seem to let me down. Glad you enjoyed the vid! - OT

Maybe I was lucky but my thror and thrain look great 😅
OT's looked like they were made of ice cream...

I must be doing some thing wrong, but that 600 point list comes out to 608 for me 🤔
You are correct! There should be one less warrior of erebor with spear and shield! Well spotted - OT
Gandalf is that you?
