We used to link combats in old LOTR SBG. Totally ruined the game for us and we eventually quit the hobby. Turns out when 20 elves roll off against 40 orcs (or anything else we chose to bring even heroes) the elves will always win … every … single … time …

This looks fun and i would like to play something similar. Did you changed anything else about the rules , the player characters seem stronger and the enemy weaker .How do the command cards work everybody has theirs or choose 6+standing orders ?

Nice game. I would have labeled the Ford as rough terrain which would have drastically changed the outcome of the fight when the knights wild charged across the ford.

Sword Weirdos is the wargaming discovery of 2024. I tried Space Weirdos when it came out and liked it - but I still found it lacking. The addition of class synergies and weapon-based manouvers is great, it elevates the game from diversion to a light but very memorable wargame. I implore you to try an "adventuring party" heavily ladden with burning flasks. It's a meme list, but it's neither OP or terrible.

I love your take on making the "historical" lore outcome be the Draw condition. And then winning for Good is doing better, and winning for Evil is doing worse. Feels like that could be fairly easy to house rule over existing Scenarios. Definitely will be incorporating that idea in my future narative games.

I can confirm, they finally caved and named him gandalf. It was really cheesy and crap, like all the bombadil scenes. I don't know why I watch it 🤦🏻‍♂️

That's very dissapointing, I had high hopes for this campaign and planned to do Scouring of the Shire myself. I'm not interested in competitive play, so narrative campaigns and scenarios are only thing that peaked my interest about SBG. Do you think that's a general problem of narrative sourcebooks or just hobbits and ruffians suck so much that they bring the house down?

Yeah, but, in seriousness, the Annatar and Celebrimbor stuff is really good. Perhaps not enough to endure the dwarf and elf politics or proto-Gandalf wandering around and looking for a stick, but it's really well done.

These days GW often makes some new plastic kits to go into a starter - definitely necessary if it were last alliance as those kits are so old

56:40 So interesting here. I don’t use the Catapult much, but doesn’t the Area Damage make Cav prone (so automatically Knocked Flying). That 6 rolled would have actually been to Wound. (Still needing a 6/4 to wound). Am I interpreting that correctly?

If you want a unique tier list you could to citys in Middle-earth. Like D-tier is Dol-Guldur (because it is a ruin), C-Tier is Moria (ruin but cool) and like S-Tier is Minas-Tirith

"No volley fire" and "spear assist 2 handed weapon" were not changes from the 2018 ruel book.... It alredy was like this since 2012.

As a elf player, the hand and a half is an A. Having S3 against D6 or D8 is just a slog otherwise.
