I have a 1976 Ludwig 400 Supraphonic and have gotten so far as give it the "Hal Blaine treatment" of stuffing each of the lugs with cotton. I have also put on Remo heads of the type and thickness Hal would have used back in the day. Going for that very classic sound. Blessed to have it. Thank you for your video on this "industry standard" of a snare drum.
Great drum! I remember I was over the moon when my dream came true and I got two Supraphonics: LM 402 (1979) and LM 400 (1969). Both all original and in excellent condition. I think they are suitable for any event and very responding!
to hear you play is always a pleasure! I got a supra from the 60s and she is magic...sound a bit more open than a 70s or an actual model to my ears, don't know why, but i love it!
Don't get me wrong. I love my LM402 snare drum. The problem is it takes up too much room in the bed but I'm very confident we're gonna work things out.
A “ MUST “ for all drummers..so versatile. Any difference between plastic and string on the snare strands, or is it more to do with older and newer models.?
Trevor Earis Hi Trevor! I will post it on my Reverb store in a bit but you can email me at vintagedrums@aol.com and I can handle for you. $459 shipped within US. I can send you a Paypal invoice. Steve

I understand the difference between A and B stock.
I have a 10 lug 6.5x14 acrolite. I want a LM402.
Try a 402 with s hoops. It sounds amazing.
Lovely sounding snares high or low. Just having another listen. Where can I get one?
