Hi everybody :-) when I started to explore Pulsar I fell in love from the first moment.
This video is the pure MACHINE without any EQ or external effects.
Only a HPF filter at 33 Hz and a limiter to protect my subwoofer from subsonic bass... Hahaha.
Pulsar is a dream and I just started my journey with this wonderful machine.
I hope you enjoy these jams.
Love to the SOMA team and the genius Vlad Kreimer.
welcome to the club Anthony and thanks for getting me motivated to turn off the computer and turn on the pulsar which i am doing right after pressing send on this comment :D
@@valery4654 🙏 I took Pulsar home today and will make tonight a Pulsar session at home. Candle light, glas of red wine and Pulsar soundscapes...
Hey Anthony! I've tried doing some direct recording but often found that the kick and other modules have really loud transients and clip on the input of my audio interface. This sounds incredibly clean, what did you use to record this? HPF at 33hz into a limiter on the computer and then turned up the volume to make the audio clip as loud as you could? Thanks for any information, loved the performance. :)
@@postsolarpunk You need to adjust the ATTACK of the Kick carefully and listen on the CLICK of the KICK. If you record MIX OUT use a limiter to avoid digital peaks. I hope this helps.
I recorded the MIX OUT into my Mixing desk input wich is like a normal audio sound card input.
@@anthonyrothercom Thanks for the tips! I'll give it another try.
ABOUT THE RECORDING OF THIS VIDEO
Pulsar's MIX OUT into my digital mixer (it's like a sound card)
Highpass Filter 33Hz and a Limiter to avoid digital clipping.
No external effects ! The pure Pulsar !
That's all. The Pulsar has a great sweet spot and sounds without processing awesome.
It has a sonic depth that often I think it's stereo :-) but it's a MONO SIGNAL that you hear...
By the way "23" is my favorite number :-)
insane machine but so sad that its so crazy expensive :((
@@yyxx4174 It's good value for money. Try to design an eurorack system that does something similar, and you'd end up spending 5-10x more and would probably use 5x more desk space
This is the best Pulsar-23 demo on UA-cam. Masterful.
Awesome. I love how his chair bobs along with him in the last segment.
This IS how you get funky. Sounding ill as fuck, Electro hitting hard. 1985 vibes up rockin'❤️💎
I think that this is the best advertisement for Pulsar 23 , Anthony Rother is a legendary producer in the Electro scene and not only. In the video we can also see how this machine can be used to make a complete electro track and not just mess around with sounds and make experimental noise, this machine is much more than that, Respect to you Anthony Rother .
19 minutes of pure creative energy.
🙏
@@anthonyrothercom 🔝
If you’re high. Same beat for 10 mins straight. The 2nd 10 mins it got a little better. I liked when it got around 13:51. That sounded dope.
ah - you just 'forced' my hand to buy one of these, cheers for this upload - a very compelling use of the pulsar w/o going into overly glitchy territory - the textures are just phenomenal, can't wait!!
I knew from the first second on , that this is going to be a BANGER
Great job, Anthony and Vlad! Love seeing how folks use the Pulsar differently!
He's having a time of his life. :D
Hi Anthony, first drumcomputer i will buy for ages....... Lets get it started....
So sick man! That thing sound well nice!
Anthony Rother die Macht.
Been wanting one for a while, but now that Mr Don’t Stop The Beat has shown me what it can really do for electro beats, I want it even more
Outstanding Electro!
I would never leave this machine.
Awesome 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is awesome!!! Next on the list of synths!
so good! 👏
Sounds so goood!
Damn, this is good!
This demo really let's the Pulsar shine in all it's glory.
🙏
So glad to hear this finished up as Pulsartronic on the Dekatron record
thanks for the tip
Superb
So good ❤
masterpiece!
so kinetic and dense...........such nuanced variations and events........a real treat to find this. Take me to the dance floor (oh wait, I guess I'm no longer allowed in those - bummer)
His chair is vibing harder than he is
damn - this sounds so nice.
need want have
Yeah pulsar is worth every penny! Great performance!
yes 🙏
@@anthonyrothercom I've had mine for a while and this still sounds different from anything I've made, inspiring use of it!
@@RonCavagnaro :-) nice. I have a big collection of drum Synthesizers.
And I can tell in this early state that PULSAR is a unique MACHINE. I love it:-)
Will be a hell of a journey to discover it all. Haha. Greets to OF
Excellent . Might buy a pulsar
Love it
Pure performance and no blah blah 🤌
thats whats up some killer electro!
OMFG a proper beast. And the synth is also not bad..
oh man this is so fukking good.
good dope 00 !
Indus style for the waves and the ambiance...that stays a good electro track !!
It's on the shopping list now.
toward the end not sure if the entire sounds are coming from the pulsa, other some of it are coming from the chair. can't tell!
Coole kombi 👌🏻🤸🏻♂️🕺🤜🏻🤛🏻
Pulsar & Perkons seems to be the perfect match for tomorrows music for me
A Maz Ing - thanks for the inspiration \0/
Some geniuses make tools, some geniuses use them. Here we see both.
i like that and agree fully.
He didn't create the Pulsar 23. He's an electro producer demonstrating the unit.
@@machinelanguage5108 Yes, I know - I was commenting on Vlad's work as well (but I see that it was unclear).
FACTS
vlad kreimer is a genius and anthony rother is a genius..
pulsar 23 is a powerful drum machine.
SOMA instruments are for the dedicated and knowing ones. Only artists can control them!
🙏
SOMA LAB makes great, unique machines!
That is really great. I own a Pulsar 23 but so far i could not get such a perfect performance out of it…Thanks
🙏
Kick Ass bro. I have only had a few hours on mine and have gotten some amazing stuff with the internal looper, and a few days ago attached a midi input from Logic. I have just been using Logic as a clock source, that works really great. (while using my RoIand TR-8s as additional drum sounds). I will be sending sequences to it as the next step. Also I have a Dave Smith Pro 2 and put a few LFO's out of the Pro 2 into the CV inputs in the Pulsar, and it works so great. It adds a lot more depth and sound abilities just by adding 2 more LFO's. One of the great features of the Pulsar. I'm looking forward to more of your demonstrations. I have been so involved in the exploration, that I have not recorded and of the sounds, and it's easy to forget about doing that.
thank you and thanks for your detailed experience :-)
Yeah man it's so important to record because so many good sounds are coming and going...
Worth every penny. Unlike the Tempest and Korg Drumlogue, the Pulsar-23 has actual Groove and character to it like nothing else. Also no menu diving, everything is out in the open and easily accessible.
My friend has this drum machine and sent the link. I’m not good at synthesis but you make it creative and fun, i feel like i could try it. Glitch is fine ok but u have a motor behind you, that’s how my 80yo. father describes great rock and roll ‘It’s got a motor.’ So much longer than i could usually watch YT great instrunent your range is epic 🏀
Sounds great. I do breaks with mine. Use the Rytm to sequence so I can some trc love to have more variation.
Sir @anthonyrother you are a masterful groove maker! My toxic trait is I believe I can also do this, so I just ordered this machine. 😂
Interested to know if you managed to get anywhere close? Hope so
@@goldlines lord no, not even close… but thanks for reminding me, I need to try more! 🙌 😃
Bist der Beste DJ 2022
bro yes...
what parameters can be controlled by midi?
Besides loving seeing what peeps do with P23, Im' laughing at us people of certain age who still have the 90's gear: Genelec1030A's AMT8, JD800…
Really good materials here ! Are you sequencing through the inbuilt loopers or is it midi ? Thanks 🙏🏼
Thank you :-) It's sequenced via DIN MIDI
Anthony meets Vlad👍
That's some boss electro! Also, that kick is a monster, would love to hear through a PA
Brilliant Pulsar jam. Would love to get my hands on one.
Yes like Copy Of A by NIN at the beginning
Hi Anthony!
Great video and patterns!
How did you sequence the patterns? With external sequencer or with the Pulsar sequencer?
Thanks a lot for the video
:-) Yes sequenced with an external sequencer.
Thanks for your quick reply 😀
Gut
I would love to see just the instrument so I could make my own Anthony :)
Hi Vlad, I have recently found VCVrack2. I love your sound. Could you provide a template to follow :)
???? What??
externally sequenced, right?
Yes sequenced with an external sequencer.
Great to know.
@@stossbeats But I must say that I have not tried the internal sequencer of PULSAR yet.
I will try it in the next days :-) But triggering PULSAR with DIN MIDI works flawless :-)
@@anthonyrothercom incredible vibes in this audio! The sequencing is sick! Are you using a DAW or other hardware. Love to know a little about your process to craft these rhythms. So good 👊🏻🙌✨️
🙌SCHEUNEN DRESCHE 🙌
Is music only made through a soma machine?
Very nice ❤ what IS the sequencer involved?
I think he replied to an earlier comment that he sequenced it using an MPC.
Is the only sound source on this the Pulsar 23??
Yes it's only PULSAR-23 !
I copy what I have written in an other comment.

The drums are good, though but i think its more like an awesome drone machine, especially the second voice of it.....
How Pulsary of you
Immer noch 1032😊
boxing ????
Вот интересно, можно ли толково Drum n Bass замутить? Но то, что ты замутил мне зашло.
У тебя чуть стул на части не разлетелся! 🌀
С дуру что хочешь можно замутить)
Уже как пару месяцев счастливый обладатель Pulsar 23

The same lame kick drum programming throughout the video. Not impressed.
Least interesting of all the Pulsar videos to me, sorry. Why stay straight with a machine that pushes you to be off-grid. Better use any X0X type gear for this ..
Not showing anything the pulsar 23 is capable of.
thanks for your honest opinion.
If you are looking for more detailed demonstrations and a wide range of possible sounds on Pulsar-23 please watch and hear this UA-cam Playlist on this channel:

No FX ... no EQ? Those drips starting at 0:29 sound like a cranked out TB-303 ... check out that crazy clap decay at 2:40 .. ZIP gone! I guess those are hi hats at 4:40 but whatever they are they sound like an SH-101 ... we can go on and on ... 😂
@@HazeAnderson All these FXs are Pulsar's built-in. Anthony means no external processing. Internal Pulsar processing is used a lot.
@@anthonyrothercom Great Session but how have you sequenced it? Built in?
@@jamiestewart4831 I sequenced Pulsar-23 with an external sequencer.
