- Welcome to the Pulsar-23 Spotlight show! This remarkable drum machine from SOMA Laboratories is so much more than it seems, and has resonated in our eurorack modular community. So--let's do a show about it!
In addition to performances from THIRTY PULSAR-23 BAD-ASSES from around the globe, this show also features a performance and portion of an intimate interview with VLAD KREIMER (inventor, alchemist, and head of SOMA).
The FULL interview is here:

@@ModularWorld 🖤🙏
So good. Some amazing performances 👏👏👏
Thanks for hanging out, Paul!
Whole lot of expensive gear in these videos... but most just sound to me like someone having a panic attack in the engine room of a freight-liner.
This is a great comment - I needed a good laugh today. Thanks for checking it out - I understand it's not for everyone. :)
Great show! Thank you!
Absolutely---thanks for hanging--and your support of the show. Much appreciated, my friend.
exceptional show, thank you
You're so welcome. Thanks for being here!
It's cool to see someone using an Ornament-8 in practice
oh, agree---wonderful stuff...
It be nice to know which track you're referring to!
@@rainerd9890 32:20 is the Shimura set. He rocks the shit out of the Ornament-8. I'm sure there's another one--but you really shouldn't miss Shimura.
Very nice compilation about this fascinating gear
Right on---glad you liked it!
This video is like the best thing ever. Thank you!
You're so welcome! And thank you! :)
Finally managed to listen to it all yesterday while working. It was really great to hear all the different approaches with the pulsar. Thumbs up to everyone involved!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hey Modular World, Thanks so much for putting this together! I appreciate the hard work put in here by you, your team, all the artists and Soma. Very cool. It's great to hear the instrument and also be introduced to new artists as well. Cheers!
Thanks for the kind words. You're right, these shows take a lot, but it's just so worth it seeing the community shine like this. Brilliant. Again, thanks for being part!
Beautiful work Everyone, well done! love Soma instruments!
Cheers - thanks for tuning in!
Another great show. I like that you do various formats.
Right on! Glad you dig....stay tuned for more. :)
I never thought I'd find a podcast about modular synths and people making art with them. Appreciate your work so much!
Well, thank you!
For a good modular podcast, I'd have to recommend our friend Tim Held, who runs Podular Modcast. Brilliant. A pillar of our community for years.

OMG @David Castellani Music killed it!!!!!
Absolutely. Love how it was shot too.

🔥
Yes!! All the fire! :)
This thing can produce some really amazing drum and percussive elements, From simple and straight forward to down right monolithically filthy, the thing that really peaks my interest in it is how it can be used to make those really subtle or in your face other worldly textures and melodic elements like Dexba does at 2:28:21
I've seen just a handful of people use it in this way now and what I'm realizing is that it's massively underrated and virtually untapped in that unconventional/experimental context and wayyy more than just a drum machine in regard to what it's potentially capable of.
Well said! Definitely so much more than a "drum machine".
Yum n yes!
Классно!
Спасибо за просмотр!

YES!!!
please how to save his paternals on soma pulsar 23?
Dexba, Trovarsi... WOW!
So glad you enjoyed! Thanks for hanging out. :)
Thank you so, so much 🧡
Bonjour tout le monde!
Elelectric kitchen ❤
Serious stuff. Mark is a leader in our community both in spirit and also in talent!
@@ModularWorld he's incredible
What is the ring controller that electric.kitchen is using in his performance? (The thing on his finger)
I believe it was the Wave by Genki
@@err_rawr Thx!
Yep, Wave by Genki. I connect it into my setup by having it pair with a Raspberry Pi (the small orange box on my table.) That box simply routes Bluetooth MIDI from the Genki out to USB MIDI. Then I use a Midihub by Blokus (grey box on the table) to pass USB MIDI to DIN MIDI over to the Pulsar-23. I have the three axes of the Genki Wave ring mapped to three converters on the left side of the Pulsar-23. You can see the label I put on the Pulsar-23 in my video to help me remember which axis is where. All in all, it sounds like a complex set up - but it is pretty much set it up and it just works from then on.
@@MarkLentczner ooo interesting thanks for the breakdown
Mark....always innovating....love it.
That dude Shimura absolutely kills it.. Pls, someone tell me, he has a modified/turned modular Lyra 8, wired to the Pulsar?
It’s an Ornament-8, not a Lyra.
That's the Ornament-8.
Vlady 💗
Hey vlad can I trade you some paintings for a pulsar?
Anybody got $2k they could spare and share?
So good all of it. Much love
:)
TÆT FTW
some killer stuff!! Thanks for hanging out with us!
В основном какие то пердящие звуки без ритма и вкуса. Мало годного с таким мощным инструментом
