Try Dave Smith. But yes I agree. Love the possiblities this thing offers regarding sound-design. Watching Nick's tiny preview makes me think the raw sound is fantastic, too. And having a tutorial featuring such a great accent from the creator - fantastic!
I have been using the Pulsar for 3 years now. I still come across functions and possibilities I had no idea about previously. As with all Soma stuff, there are a lot of hidden depths - and a strong call to creativity . Also, live experimentation is deeply rewarding with these instruments. Go Soma! Love u guys!

Thank you for making these in-depth videos. I’m gaining a much better understanding of different ways to approach the various sections of the machine. It’s very inspiring!
Vlad, this is an insane machine! Thank you for the detailed explanation of what is possible. Very impressive creation. You deserve recognition for the hard work in dreaming this idea into reality. I just received mine and I was able to follow along. The best 1 hours spent on music creativity in a while!

Always a good sign when you can "feed it any kind of bullshit and it won't freak out." 🤣 Guess who just pulled 3 modules from their rack to sell and get funds together 🙋🏻♂️
Vlad, I don't understand how you were able to pull yourself away from this thing long enough to actually get it in production. I have never had an instrument speak to me so directly before and am kicking myself for not getting on the waiting list immediately after it was announced. On the bright side, there will surely be many more demo videos before it arrives!
thanks for this series! i did not really understand some features now, but i'm going to watch this over and over again...until the postman rings 23 times xD
Variation is always the thing missing to me on modern drum machines. It’s just four/on/the/floor relentless repetition. The way this machine adds change, variations and movement is brilliant.
Truly an analogue beast of possibilty in this digital age... I don't even make music (yet?) But his tech is enthralling to witness and I really wanna experiment on one
Beautiful Instrument. I wish you could divide the clock by other numbers than powers of 2 (e.g. 3). Although combining the clock divisions and modulating the clock by itself seems to give endless possibilities for experimentation
Vlad Kreimer The description of the looper bank changes was the most confusing. It is a strange , new way of sequencing for me. Seeing you demonstrate the looper in depth works better for me than just reading about it. I’ve mostly used the clock dividers (with various modulations) and external MIDI to sequence the triggers
I love your accent. I wish younwould say some maffia talk so,incould sample it and use it in a next track :) - also, think the pulsar 23 might be a good toy for my studio... but another color maybe :)
Hello Vlad, I have a question about using external triggers: I am sequencing the Pulsar BD from the eurorack sequencers. I am unable to get the full velocity. The attack is very quiet, maybe at medium or low level. Do you have suggestions? Do I need to amplify the trigger or gate before sending to pulsar? Is there a way to do this without external amplifiers?
I am sequencing via midi and I’m assuming this is also sending a clock, however the clock divider is not using incoming midi clock. As I understand it this is by design but is there a way to connect the midi clock to sync the divider or does it require a further clock source via cv. I can’t find the answer in the manual, help much appreciated thanks
Seriously thanks for this, I just got a white one ) Closeups! Some of us are old and have trouble reading; helpful to use maximum zoom. I am trying to get the sounds to be dirty and find the drive setting may not be strong enough. What is the best way to quickly switch between clock divisions, or even do so randomly.
Hello Vlad, thanx for sharing this great machine! I have a question about the patch/crocodile cables: Is it possible to damage the Pulsar by using the wrong patch combinations, or in/outputs ?? Thank you!
Vlad, would I have to use an external sequencer or MIDI to play odd time signatures? Also curious if there is any possibilities of randomization for CVs?
Is there a way to clear all the recorded drums in the looper completely? And or if you want to start a new fresh bank and you have something recorded could you say while the looper on bank BD is running clear SD bank? Thank you. So far I have been able to only clear by recording over each drum sound individually...To make it simple i am asking about an “erase all” function.
All I can find online are explanations of how to sync external devices to MIDI while generating the beats from the external device. This may be great for people who do quantization all the time, but I don't, and it's one of the reasons I bought the Pulsar. How do I sync non-quantized beats I've made on the Pulsar with Logic X's tempo using the 5 pin MIDI out on my interface? Thank you!
Vlad baby, mine is already paid for and I'm waiting for it on it's way to me. I have a ton of questions , such as can you send an LFO from something like the matrix brute LFO out and use it to control in pulsar? and also what does the "out" do on each channel? is it just sending cv or actual sound? or both?and can you use all 4 voiced/channels to make a 4 Osc mono synth out of it? it looks like it can be simultaneously synced, but can you make all channels respond to a midi keyboard? that will be the shit if you can.
Yes, you can control Pulsar by external CV (LFO etc). OUT is the actual sound. Yes you can use the 4 channels to make 4 osc synth. You can trig all channels via MIDI but only bass recognize midi pitch.
@@somasynths thanks for answering my questions. I can already guess what Pulsar -69 will be like hahah. I realize that the more it will do = the more it will cost, and also that the Lyra will do all the "traditional" synth sounds. I'm always interested in what the limits are of any piece of equipment is. I have a feeling that someone will hack the Pulsar -23 and make it do more. I am not that technical, but I have been watching all your vids and others , and have a few wish lists for it, but I also know you are making equipment to do those other things. after watching the looper and clock vid, I realize that very complex rhythms can be made, especially from external cv .
Hi, Vlad. Am I right to assume that, when copying a pattern to a different bank, Bank 2 implicitly listens to the pattern in Bank 1, Bank 3 listens to the pattern in Bank 2, and Bank 4 listens to bank 3 ?
Also, is there any reason to use the right pins of attenuators as inputs and left pins as outputs ? I'd do it the other way, but I suppose it works both ways ?

Vlad I just saw Todd Barton talking about not to stack several outputs into a single input when talking about Buchla. How does this affect Pulsar 23?
I held down the L/Bank/ADD/DEL combo for the copy/paste but it keeps stopping and going to a blinking Bank mode
Vlad, would I have to use an external sequencer or MIDI to play odd time signatures? Also curious if there is any possibilities of randomization for CVs?

You can reverse attenuator pins it will work in a kind nonlinear and strange manner.
