Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing RED ARC Tow Pro Liberty brake controller on a 2019 Nissan Armada. The Armada has a pretty heavy duty towing capacity. And with that and with heavier trailers generally you're gonna have trailer brakes associated with it and it's just gonna make your towing experience a lot better. You can control that swaying trailer if it's improperly loaded or just coming to a stop, it's gonna slow that trailer down and keep it from pushing the vehicle around. Your typical brake controller, you've probably seen them kind of living under here in the dash area and you've probably smacked your knees on them before as they do take up a decent amount of area. And a lot of 'em will have digital readouts and your manual slide.
Then it's all really nice but you really don't need all of that. You can put it in a much smaller package get that completely clean looking under here, and also just have a clean OEM look once the brake controller's installed. And that's the glory of the RED ARC brake controller. Brad Setting the brake controller super easy. If you have a heavier trailer, you're gonna put this to a higher setting obviously and you can always start a little bit less.
And the great part is is when you are towing along, and you have this set, you'll know that the brakes are being activated when you put the brakes on. You can see that turns from a just a light pink there because I'm lightly appry applying the brakes. But as I really hold on the brakes there it goes to a bright red. And now that I'm gonna stop it's kind of pulsing a little bit to that pink and red. Now, if I go heavier like the 10 here, that's gonna be red.
Now, you can manual override and so it'll again illuminate at what number you're set for that manual override. And as I go to the higher settings it turns red and then it'll kind of cool the color down as I go back to zero. So, you can have this to where it is a manual override or it'll be proportional. And proportional just means as much as the vehicle's de-accelerating, it's gonna do the same on the trailer. So nice and easy.
It's not your normal brake controller that's large and kind of in the way and you're trying to find that manual override slide. This one just simple push of the button and it's gonna apply that brake. So, really easy, really easy to use, and it's just tucked outta the way nice and clean. Now, the installation of this brake controller is very easy. You could probably knock this out and I'd say about 30 minutes as long as you find a nice open spot that you wanna mount it up that's easily accessible, it's not too bad. And you are gonna be drilling through to get that mounted up. But again, it is a real clean look once it's done. So you don't have to worry too much. It's gonna be plug and play using that harness because it just simply ties into the vehicle's tow package underneath the dash. Plug that in, make the rest of the electrical connections by just plugging those in, get everything zip tied up, and you're ready to go. So, I'm gonna walk you through the installation and that way you can get yours installed on your Arma Armada. Now, to get our installation accomplished today, I'm actually picking up this adapter. And this is gonna make this plug and play. There's gonna be no splicing required. Now, if you're using the standard plug and don't pick this up, you are going to be cutting some wires back and splicing those into the factory brake control or harness. And it's not too terribly hard but this makes it super easy. You just literally plug it in. You don't have to worry about any of your electrical connections becoming loose over time. So, this is definitely something I'd recommend picking up just to make it a little bit easier. Now, as far as finding the plug, it's gonna be located kinda right underneath the steering column. It's gonna be pretty easy to find. It's just wrapped in electrical tape. But, I'm gonna be pulling this panel down because we're gonna need to mount up our RED ARC anyway. So, instead of finding our plug right now, I'll pull this down and I'll show you it once we get there. Brad And pulling this panel down is gonna allow us to find a nice mounting point. The good part about the RED ARC is obviously it's small footprint. But, also we need to make sure that the depth of it is gonna be clear when we get this mounted up. So, finding a good spot to mount it is kind of half the battle. But, also making sure that the clearance where we want it mounted, is also part of that equation. So, to get this out, it

I have a 2020. Same setup? Your site and Redarc seem to not specify the 2020. Thanks

The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty will work for your 2020 Nissan Armada, but Redarc doesn't make an adapter harness for it. However, we do have a plug and play work-around. You'll need the # 3050-P adapter to plug into the vehicle tow package port under the dash, then use the # 331-TPH-017 adapter harness.
