The orientation of the box doesn't matter. However it can NOT be left loose or dangling. It works based off sensing motion. It has to be hard mounted. Either with screws or the adhesive.

I fully agree with you about the wires not set up to fit through the center. It’s BS how they leave it up to us to correct this. If they release an update regarding, I feel they owe it to us. Thanks for sharing.
