Henna Tutorial ~ Henna Test + Straining

  • This is a two part tutorial! First, this video shows you how to determine when your henna paste has released it's dye (i.e. it's ready!) and second, how to strain your paste to rid of any lumps or clumpiness that may be there!
    **The henna paste here is a water mix, so the color difference isn't as extreme as a lemon juice mix. The second step in seeing if your paste is ready is a better indicator for me!
    **Jamila henna powder mixes sometimes take an additional 5-10 minutes after you remove the paste on the palm to see if it's bright orange.

    • @gharbson
      @gharbson Рік тому

      Yes, same problem here, it was so hard to pull 😮😢
      I ended up squeezing progressively the full of henna part of the stocking, it was less hard.

    when i tried to strain it in the sock it was hard to squeeze, only so little came out. is it because the powder wasn't smooth enough or i didn't put enough fluids? could you help me please it always frustrates me when i do it

    I have a question! If you want the stain to be stronger, would you completely replace the water with lemon juice? Or what would be the measurement..in a hot and humid climate so I'm not sure if the juice would be better or worse!

    • @GopiHenna
      @GopiHenna  7 років тому +1

      hi Michelle! either or works the same--the only difference is that with lemon juice the dye release is slower (i.e. the henna paste has to sit a bit longer than with water). I've used both and they both yield the same results. Whats most important is the aftercare of henna and of course the quality of your henna powder!

    • @Wisdom99-z8l

      The cone won't run smoothly due to the clumps, so it's necessary to filter the paste through the nylon. 🙏🏼

      Probably indigo powder is what you saw which doesn’t really stain the skin like henna does long term, but works woth hair if you use henna woth it, it’s a whole process

      Not Indian but a Krishna devotee! I started practicing Mehndi in Vrindavan 11 years ago, so with it being the land of Gopis and Gopas and Radha being a Gopi as well as all her friends like Lalitā and Vishaka being known as Gopis that is why I named my henna biz Gopi Henna as a honor to Them! Otherwise I would never have started doing Mehndi for people 💕

    Hey great video. But just wanted to make a suggestion - you are wearing sindoor (red color in the part of your hair) and the red and white bangles is called shankha-pola. Both of these are Indian traditional symbols of married women - so unless you are married it would most definitely be appropriation. In general the black lace clothing + shankha-pola does not fit. I don't want to be a hater, your henna video was super informative. But just wanted to let you know - unless you are married, you, as a white individual are appropriating.

    • @GopiHenna
      @GopiHenna  5 років тому +4

      TheNatureDiva I’m married had Vivaha yajna so so dont was part of the ceremony and my guru parampara is Bengali so when I went to West Bengal I got the sankha pola there. Married women in my lineage wear them. I prefer to wear them everyday as well as sindor and bindi. I love the symbols of a married women and notice men do not hit on me in public when I wear them as opposed to not so that’s another aspect I love about them. I appreciate your concern and glad I can clarify myself.

    I have another plausible idea; regarding possible occurrences...of history. What if butterfly wings were the first "eye shadow". It could be plausible, by way of history & the original Olympics...indigenous cultures only left their inhabited country sides for the games & various events. An event is scheduled. A group of pagans are competing. It seems Persia was a force to be reckoned with in history. Maybe a young pagan female was enamored by Persian culture. The Persian eye shadow was actually opium. Opium was used as a form of control & suffrage. I've seen forms of opium; that look like eye shadow/make up. At another event, the pagan female decides to be flattering; by way of butterfly wings. She adorns her face with colorful butterfly dirt. Not knowing these adorning things are a part of suffrage. ua-cam.com/video/tILSkVdUdzA/v-deo.html i.ebayimg.com/images/g/XBYAAOSwtJNjIkQX/s-l1600.jpg
