I love this! The history of the taxonomy and lawsone molecule was cool

Justin Guiel glad you like! I’m always fascinated about the story behind molecules and I’m still tweaking how deep I go into the science on this stuff. I could have easily made two videos on the topic, but had 1 video worth of footage .

Super interesting and beautifully edited! I've also heard about henna being used to dye hair, though in that instance it is usually a bit more permanent where applied

Draw Curiosity I’m going to try it! I was curious about that too! The cuticle of the hair shaft doesn’t shed the way skin does, so I imagine it does last a bit longer! I also want a teal streak though! Sooo much to do!

It would be interesting to know the difference between henna and the "fake henna" you get in the UK sometimes (I guess it's found elsewhere too) that causes severe skin reactions. I know the fake stuff has a weird smell and is black rather than dark brown but I wonder how the chemical composition differs. Just a thought :)

Yes! Great thought! Lots of people mistakingly get the black henna, which has PPD (paraphenylenediamine). It's actually used in hair dye, but is present in black henna at higher concentrations that can trigger severe reactions. I've gotta vid coming out about it later this spring! I'll keep you posted!

Have you gotten mahendi (henna body art) before? What was your experience?

Now that I’ve seen the process, I totally want to henna tattoo little things all over my body :)

AS WORLD have you tried it?

msbeautyphile I will try on hand

AS WORLD Hope you have steady hands! I’d practice on a sheet of paper first! Also, the mahendi artist used his hand as a pivot - to not smear the artwork.
