    4:17 that is incorrect the "battery will not explode" if you go more than 15 seconds. Those planes do not have a battery in them. They are using capacitors to store the energy not a battery.

    • @_BL4CKB1RD_
      @_BL4CKB1RD_ Місяць тому +1

      Capacitors can still explode if overcharged. It’s much more of a danger since they recharge very rapidly compared to batteries. Always be careful when handling electronics.

    Thank you for the fun video. It reminded me of the old Cox gas control line planes I used to fly as a kid. My brother and I saved up Kelloggs box tops for a year and ordered an ALPHA 1 Rocket. It worked in Baking soda and vinegar. Like boys WILL DO, we overloaded it with too much vinegar and Baking soda, and shot it to the moon and back. That thing nearly exploded on the launch pad, but it went over 500 feet and was destroyed by the resulting crash landing. Some fun though.

  • @amp86400
    @amp86400 Місяць тому +2

    I think the black plane uses a capacitor rather than a battery to power the motor. So the 15 seconds is probably just the time it takes to charge the capacitor and as long as you don't overvolt it, it won't explode. You can charge it for a week at the rated voltage and it will never explode. Cool little planes for sure!

    My first flying RC was a Air Hogs micro helicopter, i flew that thing until blades develop so much slop it was to hard to fly 🤣 it was a stepping stone into coaxial RC helicopters and eventually collective pitch helicopters! I can do some mild 3d with my blade 230s and just now I'm realizing it all started with that awesome little blue Air Hog ❤️

  • @BuddyClontz
    @BuddyClontz 28 днів тому +2

    The bladder is probably “hot” due to the compression of the molecules that make up the air in the bladder thus increasing their average kinetic energy(temp.) and increasing the frequency of collisions between molecules which also contributes to an increase in total k.e.(heat). (The phenomenon you observed is sometimes called the heat of compression). Sorry for the mini lesson…but I taught Chemistry and Physics for more than 30 years. Great channel content by the way. I used to do a lot of building and flying of RC airplanes and was on the cover of many magazines back in the 1990’s. The last one I was on was Nov. 1998 Model Aviation with my 38% One Design which is now hanging from the ceiling of my shop. I need to get back to flying now that I have young grandchildren.

    In 1970 I and another made an airplane with a stick of paper that covered gum! It flew almost 20 minutes inside of 30 ft x 30 ft 12 ft room! It was the smallest airplane with an engine at the time. I will tell you how we did it if you like!

It was a jet! Then I had a plastic model cement, with out the smell, placed a drop of the cement leading edge of airplane!Then for the engine there was flys! At the time I could catch a fly flying and not hurt it! I glued the fly to the airplane! And let GO! It was an AI airplane with 1930 architecture! It flue around until a teacher got it!

      I'm 43 and I have no idea what all this nostalgia is about.
      When I was a kid we had stickball, you hit a rock with a stick, or your grandpa's cane.
      Baseball bats didn't exist.
      Baseballs ? Only MLB could afford real balls
      The NFL still used baby pigs as balls
      There was that really popular Mayan game where you hit round stones with your elbow.
      We had to walk past wooly mammoths on the way to school, which was a factory school where they taught us how to dip matchsticks into phosphorus vats and we all got black lung or you worked in the mills and got "textile lung"
      Good times.
      I don't know what this newfangled Air Hogs is, back in my day the Wright brothers were the only pilots!
      A loaf of bread cost a ha'penny and a whole chicken was a nickel. Coss, yew hadta kill'n skin dat chick'n yesself, aw dang, my words done got olde fasshined tew. Shee-yit, I'm a hillbilly now dad gum it! I lost my pretty words thinkin' 'bout da ye olde tymes.

    The air hogs aeroscout sport was the most fun I've ever had with an RC airplane. I hope they make a comeback! I've been searching for one for years.

    I've still got an original Air Hogs from 25+ years ago. On its backup wing now and not flown in ~25 years but I was so impressed with its motor its become a shelf-queen. Why that motor design hasn't become more popular is beyond me! Golf carts with solar sun-shades running an air-compressor? I live 8-miles round-trip from town. A 500W solar panel (and back-up battery) should make that easy. What a neat motor design!

    I remember buying an air hog plane and being excited to watch it fly. Standing outside in my yard, I pumped it up and sent it into the sky. It made about two circles around the yard then took off in a straight line never to be seen again 😂

    It had a capacitor which chargs via the 3 cells not a battery

    I got the original airhog for my birthday when it came out my brother and I threw it twice and on the second throw it took an uneven landing in grass and split the wing. It came with a spare but even as a child I wasn’t optimistic so I went and returned it to toysrus. That being said, this little guy seems to be pretty resilient after slamming into pavement a few times

    Years ago a friend got one of those capacitor planes for his young son, we took it to a park and on it's first flight it flew REALLY well! We watched it fly away until we couldn't see it anymore!

    Fun is the key word. Reminds me of a cable line rc plane when I was younger. You held the battery/motor assembly (looks like a big flashlight) in your hand which goes to thin a 8 ft cable attached to the plane. You start up and turn to allow the plane to take off. The plane had no motor. The cable spun inside a plastic/rubber tube turning the prop on the plane. A variation of control line planes...just not as dangerous.

      Im only 18 and had like 10 of those and would spin it so much to the point it would take off on it’s own from the ground and if you threw it you never seen it agin or it just broke bc it went so high and fast

    My father started in the hobby during 1950's. And planes were basically free flight. No rc. Start the nitro engine and throw it in the air. And today we still have people doing that. Pretty cool to see these new technology. Also back then we had these co2 free flight also. :) Be cool that you do a free flight of co2. Co2 uses like the co2 cartiage and motor is basically also piston driven. So cool :)

    Update: the upgraded black plane is a BLAST!! For $20 you get TWO planes, red and blue AND a strip of LED lights that sticks to bottom edge of fuselage COOL. For Christmas I'm giving everyone in my family from 75 to 7 years old these planes!! Highly recommend!! 😎😂👍

    I agree... if airhogs made a comeback, it would b amazing, i love the rc's they made, mostly the ornithopters, i think they were called fire wings or somethin close 2 that

    5:51 now I think about it boys would be really good glider starts I'm not sure if it would work but if you put an elevator and a Ruder and an autonomous flight control (you connected to a laptop and choose where you want it to go) and then tie a glider to it (probably with disconnecting system only probably works with small scale)

    That feeling of accomplishment is way I fly free flight. Plus I'm not spending hundreds of dollars to get the same feeling. I started flying RCs in 1993 joined AMA 1994, now back to flying more and more free flight, just for that reason. I just can't get in to the foamies as much because, I'm not big on filling a landfilled full of foam, and balsa can be tossed in a fire when it is fully retired. One thing that has made RC much better is the electric motors now my model last 10 years or more because the fuel is not dissolving the covering. Nate it was awesome seeing your joy of flight with these free flight toys, I too flow them as a young man.
