"The first thing you should say is ""these are hand-made""- most valuable piece of information I think I heard in this video. The guy is right. I appreciate you sharing that.
So how much money did you make?? This was a great narration of your trip, but would've liked to have heard more about what sells well, what didn't, and ultimately how much do you typically make so a beginner contemplating this life can decide whether it's for them. I did appreciate the behind the scenes view though! 😊
Crazy money 😊
Well since when do people ask how much money you make hopefully they wouldn't ask you what your salary is in a corporate world..Good for you.
Did I miss what the supports are holding up the head board,..nice job
@@suzannemartin9323 If someone was specifically doing a video about making money in the corporate world, I would expect them to touch on how much "crazy money" actually is. Besides, this isn't the corporate world! It's an entrepreneur focused video supposedly providing info on the "crazy money" that can be made.
@@suzannemartin9323 People want to know if it’s worth it!
@suzannemartin9323 it's a dumb society rule we're brainwashed into believing to keep us in our caste system. People should ask salary more. If we're giving pieces of our life... which is precious and limited, we should know how much it's worth and if it's worth our time aka our life.
When we did craft shows years ago we would always greet people when they came in the booth and told them to ask if they had any questions. This let them know we had seen them (and weren’t ignoring them) but there wasn’t any pressure. If they hung around a while we would approach them and talk to them about the item they were looking at. I HATE high pressure sales.
I love how you mentioned that you set your cash out area over to the side so there was no pressure or even eye contact. I have stopped shopping craft shows all together because I can't stand the high pressure. It's like walking into a car lot hoping that the salesman doesn't jump us before we get to look.
Really people selling crafts know why they are there. I have never been attacked by an over zealous craft salesperson. I've had plenty of folks excited about their work or quite frankly, bored. They're just people and I have often taken the discussion from complimenting to taking a few minutes to discuss the interest/inspiration and saying to have a great day. I wouldn't cheat yourself out of the experience over most likely a self-inflicted sort of compassion that we just have for others
Wonderful display. I love your handmade racks. Would you ever consider building/ painting one to look like a door? I think that would really pop and make people think, “ Oh! I have a front door. I need one of those.” 😊
The '"These are handmade" is excellent advice! I immediately thought that it would be great to make a layered sign that states just that. In a different format so it stands out from the rest. That way even those you don't personally speak or are just passing by would see it. I'm going to employ that in the future for my markets.
The main thing we learned with being vendors is if the area isn't accessible by wheel chairs and strollers, money was lost. We lost a good amount the first year from having a big rug that made it hard for wheel chairs, strollers, even just people with walkers or canes to move around. Once we went to just 2 door mats, we had better luck
Yesssss!!!!! Say hello to anyone who comes into ur booth. It makes them feel welcome with a simple hello. N yes tell them all everything is handmade. Why? Cuz it will let them knw the reason they all look so great n that also tells them u enjoy ur craft. Great video. Looking at ur others now. Ty❤
OMG you two are hilarious together! My first time watching one of your videos but you can bet I’m a subscriber. Your signs and your setup were great, I especially liked when Garett pointed out the “behind the booth storage area” lol. I have been inspired to take my booth design in a new direction after seeing yours. Thank you for sharing your work 😊
I just wanted to say you items were great but I was most attracted to the way you two interact. My prayer is that the Lord would bless your business as you two Stay together 👏🏽👏🏽
my husband is a great salesman. I have a Glowforge and I make and sell earrings. He tells everyone that comes into our booth that the earrings are hand made by me. He is a big help because I am not as out going as he.
That sounds like me. I’m not a salesman. I just want the products to sell themselves. 😂😂
You can do it! I’m NOT a sells person but my wife was impressed. I find it helpful to have the mindset this is my business and I’m going to drive it forward and it won’t happen if I don’t try.

Thank you both for sharing you experience and teaching on other videos. I have learned a lot from you guys. I appreciate you both and the hard work you both put in together.
This is one of the best videos I have seen on how to do this. THANK YOU for sharing it with everyone.
That was fun to watch. It’s nice that you are doing the shows together. I did some in years past, and was always by myself.
Same here. My husband never joins me.
Love your craft walls!
They are a great idea for hanging all your signs... Perfecto!!
I'm so glad I found yall, and this video. I do all types of crafts...i focus on upcycling, recycling, and altering things, using decopauge, painting, some sewing and embroidery.
But, I'm terrified of doing my first craft show. I feel ill prepared. I worry about having too many different things. Or not having a nice display. Just everything.
Fun video! It reminds me of my craft show weekends in the 90’s. Fun & tiring! ❤
Love yalls content! Congrats on the successful craft show!
I love Bucees, I'm actually from the small town where it all started.
Glad you both had safe trip to South Carolina (my home state). I use to live in Columbia. Thanks for sharing some of the sales knowledge you learned from the couple 🙂. Hoping it was a very successful trip.
You both are so much fun to watch! Such good advice you are providing to us. PLEASE can you provide plans for doing all of this by hand? For example, what are the cut sizes for the legs? Please help - and thanks for such great vids. We are so lucky to have found you.
Thank you for your content. Much appreciated. Kim is absolutely adorable.
amazing, i was actually wanting to understand how to break ice with the customer! this was just perfect! Thank you kim and garrett!
I’m in SC. Love this ❤❤❤ thanks for sharing.
Kim’s giggle is so cute. 😂
I can't believe you're so close to me! I'm super excited to purchase some of your wood cuttings for my own projects and might even make my friends come for a DIY class, it sounds so fun!
You guys are amazing. You guys are taking it to the next level. Hope you do well.
Thank you so much! Fingers crossed.
Love the new set-up. But I did like the little hut😊. Looks like you did pretty well. Hope you came out on the positive side having to pay for lodging. When you get an RV, get one with a toy hauler. You should make a video of making your rounds that could play in your booth. I find that I'm attracted to things like that. It makes me more interested in the product. Who knows what can happen. Good luck at your craft show. ❤❤
Happy Birthday Garrett! Looks like fun.
Thank you Joy!
Love you sharing the behind the scenes. It don't look too hard when you watch. It could even be done alone just harder for sure. But, it's not impossible to do and great to watch someone go for it and actually do it.
I have whole dif thing I'm hoping to go for and was looking up tent and show ideas in general.
GO For IT! ~garrett
That is great advice on how to greet people!
Awsome video. Loved it!
Looks like a lot fun! And hard work! Love your display walls. Looks awesome. 😊
Thanks so much!
I miss doing shows and would love to get back into it. My highlights is during the winter down here in South West Florida. Once you get an RV, you will see the big difference of your intake.
Those signs are so nice! I’d buy one. Biggest trick is to make stuff that people want to buy!
Always a learning experience:)
Your peg boards are a great idea. Great job. One suggestion would be to paint them so they are all the same color. Best of luck with your business.
They could look cool finished in actual front door paints, but muted colours
You took the words right out of my mouth. I was going to suggest painting them black, almost every color pops with a black background.
What did you use to make the pegboard stands. I would love these for my wreath business
Great video!
Question: How do you find out about upcoming craft shows? Dates, Locations and costs etc.
Hello! Do you have a video for the new display walls? They look great
I was thinking, Just Yesterday, (I found your channel today), that a Toy Hauler would be almost perfect as a portable shop, and rolling warehouse, for what you're doing.
Awwww. I used to love South of the Boarder. They have the best blueberry pancakes!!!
Looks awesome!!💛
Thanks Heather!
Love your new setup!! It look like you had a lot of people.
Thank you!
This was great. Do you have a video for the peg board legs please
I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT YOU WERE IN COLUMBIA AND I DIDN’T KNOW!!!!! I live in Columbia and I would have loved to meet you both - I have watched your videos for awhile and I am really bummed that I missed meeting you! I hope you had a wonderful show and if you’re ever in the area again I really hope that I am able to go to the fair and say hello!!!! Take care and stay safe.
I’m in Columbia, too! Near Sandhills. I’m very new to this channel and I haven’t even thought about having shows but I have begun acrylic pour painting and maybe it will take me somewhere. Maybe not.
I’m a transplant from TN and I have a lot to learn about Cola’s craft scene!
You two are to funny. Booth looks great, love your work. Did you do a how to video on the display wall?
Looks like you had a good show. I live about 2 hours from Richmond. I do baking for a local farmers market. I’ve also done some craft shows locally in the past years but since my husband passed away about 2 1/2 years ago, I don’t have sny one to help me.
We live in SC and love Bucees
New into craft fairs here!! Love the boards, it makes an open space 👍 Why did you decide to have 2 boards of different color??
Hey hey! Love your videos! I got onto your channel from hubby, he watches you too!
You should consider selling your display boards and selling your design plans to the keen DIYer. Keep the videos coming!
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! I'm glad you and your hubby enjoy my videos. We tried selling display boards, but I had to change a laser to cut it and it took 3 hours to make 1. It was taking too long to get customers their stands, we felt bad so we stopped making them. I made the design plans and cut file available to our Patrons. We will take orders for them, but know it would take 3-4 weeks to get it. You can email us at support@kandgmakeit.com THANKS! ~garrett
Was a shopper in Columbia. Everything looked fantastic.
Thank you Kim!
bahahaha 72 point turn....I almost spit launched my joint across the room laughing at that lol omfg congrats you're soooo close to 100,000
How far do y’all travel for craft shows? I love the stands and the setup.
Dang it you were in my hometown and I missed you!! I love your videos.
Aw man, Im sure we'll be back!
We great everyone and tell them about our product, if they feel uncomfortable we tell them they don't have to buy, let's just have fun and we put our product on them and play makeup and soon they are reaching for their wallet, pocketbook. People have all they need but they are there for the experience and fun, when we give that to them, they buy.
21:55 hey you guys looks like you had a lot of fun Happy Birthday Garrett! I have a tip for y’all for your next show. Go to your local Ross, Marshall’s, or T J Max. You want to get the anti fatigue mats. Look for a runner style or two smalls just to place in front of your chairs. The concrete floors will take a toll on your back and knees.
Carpet is a great idea, especially to mitigate stroller traffic. Has it been a trip and fall hazard? Did you use something to hold the edge of down? Thanks, first time watcher!
I just came across this video and thought your signs are so pretty. I'm wondering if you ever get over to Indiana. Thanks.
Very nice
Great video. How much can you realistically make from a craft show like that?
This was awesome, I am getting ready too first one. What did your banners have on them. Can you share?
great ideas. also wouldnt mind finding out where you got the dolly from?
What is the length and width of your display feet and would you make any changes now that you have used them?
Safe travels. Questio. Are you going to put the leopard sign for sale?
It looks great
Thanks Anne!
Do you have a video showing how to make those peg boards?
What was the thinkness of your panels? I like the natural look too, do they stay standing outside?
Can't wait to start my journey I just started my lazer business 🙌
AWESOME! Good Luck! Stick with it! And let us know if you need anything! ~garrett
Love the setup! Buc-ee's is building in New Kent County off 64 to open in 2027. Not far from Richmond.
Thanks!
where did you get you're pull up screen from? vistaprint?
You both are so cute!
Hello, thank for sharing. I having looking every where for your new peg board stand and cant find it. Can you share with me please. 🙏🏼
How are the Craftsmen Classic shows? I’m thinking about applying for the Christmas one in Richmond this year. I’ve never done a 3 day show so it seems a bit intimidating. Thanks for your feedback!
I like the behind scenes video.
I'm doing my first craft fair this weekend. Supposed to be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Ive been trying to get everything prepared and ready but it seems like everything is pushing me back. I'm so stressed to the point I don't want to do it anymore. I don't really know what I'm doing since this is my first. I am supposed to be doing this with a friend, but Friday I'll be by myself. I have nothing 100% planned, and there's some major things I'm waiting on and I'm really worried they won't be done and ready on time. It's easy for me to work myself up and be in my head too much and I just want to cry.
BREATH!!!! Relax. Don't stress. Be as prepared as you can, but know you are going to forget things or things you haven't even thought of. We Learned a lot more than we Earned our first few shows. You will do great! ~garrett
Like your video. I do handmade craft items. Do you have a pattern size to share on how to make the stand to hold the peg board?
Look forward to your next video.
what? I was too busy looking at the "DO YOU LIKE CATS" sign. lol
Omg please let me know when u get back to SC
Lol, thank you for showing us the ropes...by the way I bet you can take a nap in the back with the wagons.
What method of payment you use for you . I’m looking for my first event
What size are those rounds and where did u find the bags
Do you have multiples of each sign? Or do you take 1 of each and that’s it??
Great set up! Can you tell me how you made the legs to hold the peg board? I need these. Great ideas and lovely display. Good luck today!
Yes! We are doing a video on how we made them for next Friday. Thank you! ~garrett
@@KimandGarrettmakeit We love the display panels you created!! Please tell us -- how do we access your "how to make peg board display panels " video.
When is your stop in Charlotte, NC?????????
I say Hi. Then I let them browse because I know people don’t like to be stared at while shopping.. But sometimes I’m so proud of my product I over share and the product sells 😊😂
Maybe you can make some signs that are a different shape? Although they are all handcrafted and different they simehow look the same from a distance. Maybe even have a mirror as well somewhere? Seeing yourself in the mirror will grab your attention.!
Did you make your displays? Did you video it?
Where do you get your wood rounds
Okay I see this is a year ago, I just started crafting... is it really worth traveling that far? Did you make the money for it?
ha ha... .I did make my husband stop at "South of the Border"
Where did you get the sign that roll up ?
Where did u get ur pull up banners at?
Does the sign on the far left actually say welcome succas
Yes, I totally agree with Heidi’s husband. As a maker, I ALWAYS greet shoppers and gauge how much to talk based on the vibe. As a consumer, I will walk right out of a store or booth if not spoken to. It goes a long way 🥰 Richmond?! Hey neighbor 😊I’m right down the road in Hampton Roads!
Speaking of being right up the road, have you ever done the Bodacious Bazaar? I’d love to hear of your best VA/NC shows❤
That’s a lot of driving! Do you make a decent profit after
Gasoline
Wear tear on car tires trailer
Food
Lodging
Time of two people??
Expenses for display - materials, time to make these 6:38
Why not sell online?
Or brick mortar store?
What sells? What doesn’t?
Yes, at large shows like this we do make a profit. The larger shows we can make between $6k and $8k. We are working on getting our travel expenses down too. We also sell online and have a brick and mortar and sell at a few local shops and we do DIY workshops. We usually list out what sells and doesn't weekly over on our Patreon website. It depends on type of show and location of the show. Price may also change depending on location. Thanks Purple Lady! ~garrett
@@KimandGarrettmakeit oh well now I see the picture! This was first video but with all that stuff and a good accountant- I can see it. Good luck
Happy travels
Happy sales
How did u make the display
I am a new patron, how do I get access to the facebook?
Curious about the cost of this 3day event (booth/fees). Then, all would have an idea of what sale$ is needed.
We tried selling door hangers at a craft show and didn't have any luck. 😢 Hope these worked out better for you.
Can someone please clarify this? I have heard from another UA-camr that does shows that you are supposed to greet all your customers. And you are saying the opposite. Which one should I do? Thank you.
Not sure if it has been asked. Where did you find the feet for tour peg boards? Or did you make them? I need something like that for mine.
