LEGO Technic Armatron Gearbox

- This is a proof-of-concept for an 'Armatron' gearbox.
The Armatron is a toy that was released during the 1980's that used one motor to control six functions of a mechanical arm. It did this by using a series of gearboxes, and I have tried to replicate one of those gearboxes in this LEGO Technic model.
For more information about the Armatron toy, please refer to these links:

This is the first video where I have provided narration, and if you have any constructive feedback about this format, please leave a comment.
Wow! Who could have thought of something like this?
Kotori Minami_chan16 him
Will you make instructions for this?
+Lego Gbc And Stationary Engines - No. This is just a crude proof-of-concept, and as I mentioned towards the end of the video, there are some disadvantages of this design that have deterred me from developing it further at this time. I have described how everything works in the video, and if you study it closely you should be able to replicate this mechanism yourself fairly easily.
A most interesting and instructional video. I own one Armatron myself, but never until now had a glimpse of how it worked. Thank you for posting this video, and for the interesting links too.
+Adolfo Camara - You're welcome :-)
What is the Name of this type of transmission? Who invented it? What machines uses this type of transmission?
I'm not sure what it's official name is, but it is based on the gearbox in the Armatron, which was a toy that was released during the 1980's.
Please read the video description for more information.
Very cool. Wouldn't this design have trouble with high torque though, since the rotating part could bend itself and possibly mesh with both output directions at once?
+Nikhil Nargundkar - Yes, you are right, and I mention that towards the end of the video. It might be possible to reinforce everything to make it more rigid, but then it would get bigger and heavier too.
Thx for this great construction. Nice piece of engineering.
Sweet!
Ah je me rend compte que tu parles français !
.... Merci
No, I don't speak French, but I can use Google Translate ;-)
+slfroden Oh I see.... What about my UA-cam channel ?
+Lego Technic Mastery - I took a look at your channel, and you have some interesting Technic designs. I have subscribed so that I can see what you come up with next. Keep up the good work.
I'm not a big fan of the 'pictures' videos of the upcoming Technic sets though.
Also, in some of those videos, is that the same music that Sariel uses in his videos?
+slfroden Yeah, For some of my videos, I used the same ones That sariel uses Because I am a big fan of these musics but I wasn't able to find the author so I supposed they don't require royalties. I heard your advice for the "Pictures" videos, Definitely not a good idea... Flickr is good for that.
Besides that, Thank you for subscribing ! It helpss a lot, motivationaly :)
+slfroden Thank you :)
Love it.
I want a tutorial
+Da GeckoGaming - I do not have a tutorial or instructions for this model, but if you study the video carefully and have the required Lego pieces you should be able to replicate this model fairly easily.
