Darkness | Blazar Remus 1.5x Anamorphic and Sony FX3 test footage

- Some pre-sunrise anamorphic footage done with the new Blazar Remus 1.5x Anamorphic lenses. Mainly shot on the 45 and 100mm lenses. Cropped to 2.40:1 Aspect Ratio, so this isn't the full desqueezed image out of the lenses. That can be seen in my previous video.
Shot on the Sony FX3 and Blazar Remus 45mm, and 100mm 1.5x Anamorphic Lenses. All shot on a tripod, image de-squeezed for monitoring on the Atomos Shinobi. Recorded internally on the FX3 in S-Log3.
I did shim my 65 and 100 between the 2 initial sample videos, and I think it definitely helped.

Amazing video. May i know what the name of the background piano music is?
Wow. Probably THEE best test footage I've seen from everyone doing reviews on these lenses. Well done! 👏👏👏
Heh, thanks! Pretty simple test footage but I think it gets the point across.
What a beauty. Extraordinary work in super wide lenses
The wide silhouette shot at 2:40 god damn it made me feel like I was watching an actual movie with that music, VERY well done!!
Thanks a ton! It’s definitely my favorite shot of the video (and it took a few tries to get it right as well.)
This is great. Best example footage out there. Thanks.
@@TomWalshFilm hey, I appreciate you saying that! Super fun lenses that have been pushing me forward as a videographer/filmmaker
@@KevinFedde Good to hear. Just bought the B set. Happy shooting!
@@TomWalshFilm I ordered the 33mm to go with the A set that I have. Probably will end up getting the B set too though…
Damn, the footage looks absolutely stunning! Need to get my hands on these lenses 😮💨
They are super fun, really happy with them so far. Obviously they have their quirks and arent the sharpest lenses out there, but they are fun to use and that is what I have been looking for.
@@KevinFedde good to know, thanks! 🙏🏼 I’ve had the sirui saturns, but the image they produce is nothing special. I want an anamorphic lens with more character
@@KaanSenel yeah, that’s why I never got any of the Sirui lenses too. The Remus lenses have so much character, almost too much at times! I’m really happy with them
@@KevinFedde i saw they’d release some now lenses for the kit september 4th, so I think I might go for the new 33mm and the 65 of 85mm
@@KaanSenel yeah, I’ll definitely grab the 33, I’ve been wanting something wider than the 45.
Beautiful shots 👌
They turned out pretty well I would say
Oh, the frames! Hope you have a lot of fun with these lenses.
So far so good! Still getting to grips on the focus fall off and such, but we used them for a short film shoot and they look pretty good!
@@KevinFedde That's great to hear. Would love to see your upcoming work! Wish you well!
Its look more beautiful then real life 🤩
It was pretty nice that morning in real life too!
Amazing! Did you ended up shimming your lens? The looks is very different from your previous test footage!
@@coldway thanks! I did end up shimming the 65 and 100 a bit which I think definitely helped. I think it was +.12 for the 65 (don’t remember how much the 100 was.)
very nice !
Thanks!
Looking at these and sirui saturns. How did you mount these on your FX3?
@@juliuschurafilms I swapped the mount over from PL to EF and used a sigma MC-11. So far I am having a lot of fun with these lenses, I got them instead of the Saturn because of how much more character they have in the image.
@@KevinFedde gotcha. Yea I’m having a dilemma with the focal lengths. A lot of the videos I like to do seem to lean toward landscape shots but idk for certain as this would be my first anamorphic lens and idk if I want/need 2 lenses.
@@juliuschurafilms I think if I were to get just 1 it might be the new 50 from the B-set. Either that or the 85. I tend to like wider but that 85 looks really nice
@@KevinFedde thank you. what was your decision making behind the lens flare choice. I would have gone neutral with sirui but with these I'm not too certain which would be closer to that, silver or amber..
@@juliuschurafilms I got blue since it’s the more traditional anamorphic flare color and I have actually been renting these lenses out to some filmmakers here in New Zealand, and the vast majority of them preferred blue. That being said even the blue flare version is very neutral and takes on the light color super well. You can see that in my couple of additional sample videos I have posted in my channel.
bro what adapter did u use?
Sigma MC-11. But only really because I already had one and my Nisi PL mount adapter was taking quite a while to be delivered here to New Zealand.
what flare color is it?
These were the blue flare version. The flares are actually surprisingly neutral though and they take on the light color quite a bit.
