    Hello ASL Heroes!!!
    Hey, I could really use your help.
    If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you.
    A small monthly donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for Lifeprint.com.
    Right now you can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher -- just go here and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!”

      Hope both are going well. The temp was 111 when I was out there, and though not as hot here, the humidity is no fun either.
      Unfortunately no trips to SAC next month but will keep you posted. Enjoy DC and have a safe trip back.

    Hey, Bill! So I have an uncle who is deaf and knows Spanish SL (first language) and ASL, however, he does not know ASL fingerspelling, so when I ask him to finger spell a sign he used, he just looked confused. How can I ask for clarification on a sign if he can’t finger spell?

    • @sign-language
      @sign-language  2 місяці тому +3

      Perhaps try asking him what a sign "means" instead of asking him to spell it. Look for contextual clues as to what it might mean. Consider video recording yourself doing the sign and then point to the video and sign "MEANING WHAT?"
      Consider joining an ASL-related Facebook group and then record the sign, provide context, and ask the group for their best guess as to the meaning of the sign.

      @@sign-languageOk, thank you, I will consider it! But I am still relatively new to ASL or SL in general so maybe I should work on my skill before hand.

      In regard to learning more -- yes -- good plan. Seems to me the issue will solved when you personally are skilled at signing and recognize more signs.
