    Hello ASL Heroes!!!
    Hey, I could really use your help.
    If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you.
    A small monthly donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for Lifeprint.com.
    Right now you can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher -- just go here and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!”

    Thanks!

    Take care and love to you all.

    Bill, you have helped make learning this beautiful language so accessable to both my son and myself. For that, I am endlessly grateful.
    We are both autistic and struggle with vocal shutdowns (sometimes referred to as 'selective mutism') and in the past has used limited asl for years to communicate needs. However, this felt too limited, and we both became frustrated. So upon seeking out ways to learn, I found your channel! And I am so happy I did!!
    *Now*, due to your incredible work, we are able to have full conversations through sign alone!! This has helped to drastically reduce the the frequency, and duration of our vocal shutdowns- and has allowed us an alternative form of communication when other difficulties arise.
    You have made this language, and our lives far more accessible because of it. Thank you ❤🤟

      Letting you know that when I am on my deathbed (who knows when but someday I will be unless I get taken out by a meteor or something) knowing that my work has been of benefit to you and others that will bring me peace.

      Hello Sarah!
      At the end of 2020 I transitioned back into private practice. (I was a consultant and entrepreneur prior to teaching for Sac State). Since separating from Sac State I've done contract work for the U.S. Defense Logistics agency, the Canadian Government, and a number of colleges. Currently I'm doing a project (remote work) for the University of Texas at Arlington and also some contract work for an A.I. startup focusing on developing machine recognition and interpretation of sign languages. Plus, of course, Lifeprint.com and my UA-cam channel. Both of my emails still work (including the one at Sac State -- it forwards to my personal email. You can find the email on my contact page www.lifeprint.com/asl101/pages-layout/contact.htm Feel free to email me and include a link to your Facebook page if you use that or any other social media you've got going on.

    I wnat to know the sign for integrity of the person.

    • @sign-language
      @sign-language  6 місяців тому

      There is not a specific widely-accepted sign for integrity.
      Instead people tend to sign "honest." ua-cam.com/video/MRrSl8ualaI/v-deo.html
      Or you can add other signs like "depend"+"can."

  • @MarleneHen
    @MarleneHen 6 місяців тому

    At 16:05, the captioning says "idiot" rather than "idiom."
    Soon after, it captioned, "orange throw" rather than "orange throat."
    How are you getting UA-cam captioning without audio?

    • @sign-language
      @sign-language  6 місяців тому +2

      Marlene,
      As a result of your comment I took a look at the captions file -- and noticed a significant number of issues and fixed many of them. Thanks.
      Originally this video was recorded as part of a Zoom-based webinar with a live interpreter. Zoom provided a separate VTT (captions) file. One of the people with hosting capability accidentally started recording way before the actual intended recording time and I needed to delete quite a bit of video from the beginning. That meant the new video timing and the VTT (captions file) timing were mismatched.
      So I used ChatGPT to fix over 600 individual caption timing indicators and used that VTT to add captions to the UA-cam file.

      @@sign-language At 9:25, there is another mistake with the captions. The captions say “word for award”; I don’t know any sign language, but I assume that it should be “word for word”.
      At 9:59, it says “killtupers”. probably “kill 2 birds”

    • @MarleneHen
      @MarleneHen 6 місяців тому

      @@sign-language Wow! What a hassle for you! I've never tried turning captions on for your videos. Sounds like it's a bit of work to set it up! But a nice option for ASL learners.

    • @sign-language
      @sign-language  6 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! Slowly but surely the captions file is shaping up.
      I googled killtupers. Apparently it's not a thing. Ha.
      Gotta come up with a definition of it.
      Weird that auto captioning would choose a word that doesn't seem to exist.
