Useful video, clutch control is so important as it keeps the car slow so if you make a mistake then it's easier to manage if you are going slow. Usually when the kerb disappears from the side mirror is a good time to turn and when it reappears in the side mirror is time to straighten up.

@TheSnugPub You don't need to use the indicator when reverse parking, when you reverse, the lights at the back of the car will come on, the white lights which lets other road users know that you are reversing.

This is the worst video I have watched on reversing around a corner. No indication of what we should be looking for in our left wing mirror & just saying turn left does not tell us whether that is full lock or one full turn! Not a great advertisement for BSM!

nah I don't do it like that basically observations on track like always as you do the manoeuvre get the bend of the kirb in the middle of the left mirror and put 3/4ths or 270° of a turn on and it follows round perfectly

The video does not explain fully/clearly on how to reverse around a corner. If this is the method that instructors still use to teach their pupils this basic skill, then I am not surprised many find it hard to understand and fail their driving test on just this one fault.
There is a far better and easier way to learn, reversing a car around a corner:
1. Parallel park car about 1½ feet from curb. After checking, mirrors, releasing handbrake, looking over shoulder etc., at the correct moments throughout this procedure, slowly start to reverse car
2. Look in nearside wing mirror at the curb and when the curb can no longer be seen in nearside wing mirror, turn steering wheel counter clockwise (full lock) into turning
3. At the point when front of car has straightened up, move steering wheel clockwise to central position (front wheels are then straight for reversing into side road).
Thats a sharp corner reverse method, this is a gentle corner. However, my instructor taught me to move my side mirror down to help me, rather than use the rear window as my focal point
The same principle still applies. The wing mirror has blind spots and is not always an accurate method of judgement and you are also concentrating too much on the wing mirror and not on traffic that may be approaching from behind...
The BSM practical driving book tells you to turn the wheel in relation to the curve of the road. That's why in the vid it said assess what the curve was like so you know how much steering you might need :) I'm on my 3rd instructor now and this last one is the first to say wing it round the corner and it's by far the best advice. Turning full lock on a big curve just makes you swerve to the curb really quickly

Why use the hand break?
My instructor doesn't advice it & I am glad cos on the day of the test I may forget to put it back on - major fault!! Better to have it on, than to fail just for not putting yr safety belt on!

Err you won't... They were talking about if other road users come along. If you've just started to reverse into a side road you can block people who are coming out or into that side road, so then you would need to move out the way by returning to the start position on the main road. So no, you won't fail for going forwards again if you have good reason too.

Great video but you all forgott to mention,when reversing in dis manover,one needs untie the seatbelt,for flexibility ability,of turning all around.At least my instructor insists on it.After completing it,re-fasten back the seatbelt.

I passed my test four years ago and still don't know how to paralell park or reverse around a corner. And they were both in my test.
Lydia Brown That's the trouble these days, driving standards are appalling. Too many drivers on the roads who can't drive. You only have to stand and watch in supermarket car parks for a few minutes to see how bad the problem is. It varies from hilarious to shocking.
I'm not blaming the drivers so much, reversing should have to be done on both right and let corners at least 3 times on a different corner every time to make sure people have really been taught how to do it properly.
My test is on the 14th:
Parallel park- fine
Bay park- doable
Turn in the road- good
Corner reverse- Shoot me now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

First of all you don't know me. I'm already taking professional lessons you shit head just needed more tips because my instructor isn't being helpful as he thinks I'm ready.

Every instructor has a way of doing things my instructor thinks dry steering is allowed when I t's in fact a minor so how am I supposed to take his advice if he wants me to gain more faults in my sheet.
