Mans sense of swing timing and bop blues phrasing is way way better than most of the field out there. Hes got the charlie Christian barney kessel herb ellis, classic feel and tone down cold..
Thank you Christopher. I love all the players you mentioned!
He has his feel. No one else like him.
Outstanding! This guitarist is so comfortable in his own skin. Great sound.
😁
I agree, so I read his bio he's like a tenured professor at a great university, head of the jazz department, the guy's got it going on. I'm just a guy who owns a guitar or two and likes the tones and scales we hear in jazz. This guy on the other hand is the bomb.
I really like this. you be boppin' man
Thank you!
I wanna play like this when I grow up.
Thank you
As do I. I've only just turned 50 and have been playing for over 40 years.
These people in the Bar are oblivious to a jet plane coming through the room. What a Solo by Chris. Geeeeeze
Thanks Al!
Ahhhh relax and enjoy the beautiful art of dancing over chord changes melodically harmonically and rhythmically. There’s a word for it I believe!!
Thank you!
Love the big dollops of blues and swing on top of the bop - supremely hot stuff !
Thank you
Great performance Chris. Your bass player and drummer are amazing as well.
Thanks Jed
Another Genius. Chris. Is Amazing.
Absolutely love this.
Thank you Keith
Got to absolutely love this!
Thank you!
Excellent, Chris! Elegant elocution! You know, you ought to think about doing this for a living. 😂
Thanks Rob!
Serious arrival here.... just great thanks.
Thank you Brent!
Chris, l transcribe your chord melodies by ear and busk on the streets of Philadelphia. It’s worth it to break it down bar by bar, note by note. Now this- your linear playing with the trio- fantastic, thanks a million for the education!
Thank you, so glad you enjoy it!
Really great!
Thank you 🙏🏻
always a pleasure to listen to. Watching is also a treat since, judging on the player, guitar playing is clearly a lot of fun (after the minimum 10,000 hrs of serious, focused, efficient and mind bending practice time)
Thank you Claude!
perfect execution, I love it
Thank you!
I've been listening to whole mix and just when I thought it could get any better... this song comes on and I'm totally blown away ! A truly jaw dropping performance and I'm totally in awe of your talent. Thanks Chris, damn, you are excellent !
Thank you Stevie

Great tone and touch, Chris. And nice group interplay.
Thanks Neil!
This is crazy! Super inventive and musical solo 👏👍
Btw, still didn't understood where you hide the pick when playing chords with fingers 😂
Thank you!
Your timing and tone are impeccable ... ✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾☺️👍👍
Thank you so much 😀
Absolutely beautiful!! Great performance! Thumbs up! Happy New Year 2019
Thank you so much!
What a treat to listen to all the finery tonight
Thank you
Fantastic sound (and playing!). The P90/Lil King combination is awesome!
Thank you!
Great playing by all, awesome guitar player.
Thank you Larry!
Such wonderful playing by all. And, great comping Chris! Typical crowd for great cafe jazz🤫
Thank you Barry!
Great perfomace. Love your playing Chris
Thank you kindly!
Very nice!! At the K.C. Mo. Jazz museum there is a white plastic saxophone Bird only played once that they paid 185,000$ for!! It was used at his Massey hall concert. I guess it was worth it! Every year on his birthday 21 sax players go to his grave for a 21 sax salute!! The movie Bird by Clint Eastwood is very good, too I would like to hear Chris play Scrapple from the Apple!
reminds me "The Poll Winners Three"!!!..great, men!!!!
Thank you Roberto!
@@ChrisWhitemanGuitar I'm your new fan from Argentina....maybe the first?

you are incredible and a huge inspiration for young guitarists like me!
Thank you Rory!
@@ChrisWhitemanGuitar i truly respect with the greatest admiration all the work you must have put into developing a voice like this. I try so hard but I feel so far away from this leval.. Without any Gimmicky super fast 16th note runs you are phenomenaly impressive. I really aspire to be able to express myself musically like this one day!
Beautiful lines and swinging like hell!
Thank you Otto!

Is this the name of which master?
Subtle Cool-ness 😎
Thank you
nice one Chris
Thank you!!!
¿Porqué la gente está conversando cuando estos músicos están tocando y haciendo arte? Que incultura y falta de respeto.
¡Estupenda actuación!
Unfortunately jazz is often thought of as background music....
Saludos

great great
Thank you!
Wow - he really breathes life into this tune. Nicely done & inspiring! Also, did the bass player break us off some dirty funk at the beginning of that solo?
Thanks Andrew
Tasty!
Thank you
Jesus Christ. What a legend
Thank you
Great solo, at some point felt like Charlie Christian.
Thank you Filip
Hey Chris awesome playing! I wonder, you guys play on the solo the exact changes as written in the realbook?
Thank you. It was a while ago, so I am not really sure
that bass solo though.
he is good!
Dang Chris, this is smokin'! There's a great spirit in your playing. Great recording also - how did you do the recording? Sound quality is excellent as well as the mix of the group.
Thanks Vince. I recorded it with a Lumix G7 camera and I plugged a 20 year old pair of stereo mics into the camera. I have no idea what kind of mics they are. There is no branding on them.
I like this guy's playing...that's all
Thank you
Mi ricorda Barney Kessel and George Benson.. Bravo
Thank you!
Is that an es-175 and what kind of amp? Possibly my favorite tone I’ve heard come out of a guitar. Playing is amazing too!
Thank you Toga. Yes, a 1953 ES-175 with a P90 pickup. the amp is a Headstrong Lil King headstrongamps.com/lil-king-amp/
@@ChrisWhitemanGuitar In my opinion its the p90 that does it(also the player). God I love that thing
@@ChrisWhitemanGuitar Chris, what strings are you using?
fun !!
Swinging!
Thank you!
Outsanding! I'd imagine that beautiful solo is not transcribed anywhere, or is it?
Thank you. I'm not sure about a transcription. I have not transcribed it.
Well thats a workin
Thank you
Why is Chris, Clint Strong and Walter Rodriguez names not on the cover of every jazz and guitar magazine. Oh. I know, they can embarrass most of the big timers..
😂
my like was 666th.
Oh man. Unlike it and like it later!
Hey Chris do you mind if I ask what speaker is in your headstrong? It sounds great and much clearer than mine.
Hi Juan, It is a 12” Eminence Legend.
How the heck do you make it - playin' - look so dang easy?
Ha! Lots of practice... Thanks Jeff
Swingin'
Thanks Denny
What's that blond guitar with the charlie Christian pickup? I've never seen an es150 in blond or with a cutaway
that is a custom archtop built by Daniel Slaman. www.newvintageguitars.com/
