@Turtlenest1 Those are Congas. I have a pair sitting in my living room. Both Congas and Bongos are "single" headed. However, Bongos come as a "pair" of drums that are "permanently" attached to each other via a wood "bridge" and are much smaller - often held in the lap and/or between the knees. Congas can come single but are usually in pairs and even triplets, but they are not "attached" to each other. Pairs can be hooked on a single stand that holds them side by side, although the stand he is using in this video is different from mine. I also have Djembe, Ashiko and Doumbek drums as well as some other percussion instruments. A Djun Djun would be an example of a double headed drum - I don't have one of those. Congas are barrel shaped, Bongos and Ashikos are funnel shaped, Djembe and Doumbek are more or less (for lack of a better term) hour glass shaped - with one end being larger than the other, and a Djun Djun is cylinder shaped and is the only one out of those drums that is double headed. ✌👍🙂
T. Rex is the roots of glam rock, and VERY good stuff. "Jeepster," "Cosmic Dancer," "Ride a White Swan" and "Beltane Walk" would all make excellent follow-ups.

I grew up in the 70's listening to him, as my sister's were much older than me, it was Marc Bolan for my eldest sister & David Bowie for my other one, can remember her painting his portrait for her art exam, she was devastated when he was killed in a car crash, so there was some great music played in our house thanks to my big sisters.
Well I guess it's my duty to recommend Mott the Hoople "All the Young Dudes" which gives a shout-out to T-Rex and is erroneously thought to be sung by David Bowie...
Enjoying your videos. It’s refreshing to see this generation discover the music that I grew up with and took for granted. There’s so much more to come and you’ve barely scratched the surface. Have fun!
My friend and I wore out a copy of The Electric Warrior album that this track was taken from. The needle literally wore right through the vinyl! Marc Bolan on vocals and guitar Steve Peregrin Took on bongos or as in this video, congas (I believe) Steve Currie on bass and Bill Legend on drums Other T.Rex tracks to check out: Light Of Love, 20th Century Boy, Children Of The Revolution, Planet Queen, Slider, Telegram Sam, Metal Guru, Solid Gold Easy Action, Rip-Off,
You touched on it. Swag. This was 19 71!!! Understand the world was different. For the most part songs on the mainstream radio were largely nicey nice let's hold hands, happy love songs (yes there were harder acts out there) So when this came out with swag and an element of raunch and attitude, with lyrics "your dirty sweet and your my girl", they jumped into a class of their own and iconic status. Today might be seen as passe but then it hit hard. This song was an important lesson your rock music history journey. That is why people suggested it. Keep on rockin
Marc Bolan a leg and in 70’s glam rock. This took me back to being a small kid playing a tennis racket pretending it was a guitar. Not long after I got that guitar. Inspirational T-Rex.
Ahh, good old Marc. I remember his first appearance on British TV in the early '70's I think. My mum said "Oh dear, I don't think that boy is quite right is he?" I like to think of him up there with the wings of a white swan, polishing his hubcap, diamond star halo.

That was how I looked in the early 70s. I took my fashion cue from Marc Bolan. In 1971 I was 23 and very , very popular with the girls. 73 now, how time flies.
It was a faintly ridiculous recording to use for the music video, as there are clearly no conga in the studio take, nor any keys or sax present on stage.
Watching his performance and presence, the lead singer reminded me a little of a cross between Eddie Van Halen (the guitarist) and Prince (the showman)
This was also covered by The Power Station which was an Outside Project of Duran Duran. The Members were Tony Thompson (RIP) The Drummer for Chic who never got the recognition he so richly deserved, John Taylor (Bass), Andy Taylor (Guitar), and Robert Palmer (RIP) which was a major comeback for him.
The supergroup Power Station covered this in the 80's and their version was really good too, thanks to the vocals of Robert Palmer. Definitely worth checking out.
Marc Bolan was a huge crush of my mums, when I was a toddler he was all you could hear playing... my mum adored him! I can remember her dying when he died in the Car Crash... he is still a beloved fav of my family... my daughters enjoy dancing to his music today :) another fantastic pick and reaction you guys are legends :) 😀😃
Now that you’ve heard it, you might be interested in the remake from ‘85 I think by The Powerstation (Robert Palmer, Andy Taylor (the guitarist from Duran Duran), John Taylor from Duran Duran, and Tony Thompson). It is louder and edgier. Whether that’s good or bad, it was a worthy remake.
It's about time you guys reacted to some of THE DOORS music. Try "LA Woman or Soul Kitchen or Roadhouse Blues" for starters ...I guarantee you will want more after you do
Robert Palmer along with John and Roger Taylor from Duran Duran remade this song. The name of their band was Power Station. Give it a listen, it's really good
The song is called Get it On. It is on side two of T Rex's Electric Warrior album which I bought in 1971 and still have. Don't know why people insist on calling it Bang a Gong. Not only was Marc Bolan (real name Marc Feld) a prolific song writer he was also a very gifted poet.

I was 14 when this came out and it still sends shivers down my spine and takes me back to my schooldays when I hear it.
Hi to you from the UK .
Quintessential 70s! Funky! Rock! Glamrock introduction! Border psych!
This hits all the notes! ❤️
I do see where Prince got some of his style, moves and vocals.
SUCH a great band - T-Rex and Marc Bolan - One of my favourite bands when I was growing up in the 70s - Such a fun sound
Good choice with this one. Those pieces you were asking of are called Congas. They offer a sound like no other...Glad that you keep sharing as you two do...
I love watching young people react to music I grew up listening to. Your commentaries are great, worth pausing the song just to listen to!
I was lucky enough to live through the wonderful 70,s. What a ride.
great early seventies tune. there were so many back then, great reaction
Thats what we call glam or glitter rock, depends on what part of the 70s, Mark Bolan was the king, never forget him
How about Sly and the Family Stone, Everyday People.
" Sex Machine "
Thankyoufalettinmebemyselfagin by Sly Stone is good too.
Yes!
Another vote for listening to something by Sly and the Family Stone
Thanks guys , you're bringing back my childhood.💎💎💎💎💎👍🏾👍🏾🇬🇧🇬🇧
Well I guess it's my duty to recommend Mott the Hoople "All the Young Dudes" which gives a shout-out to T-Rex and is erroneously thought to be sung by David Bowie...
It's not erroneously attributed to David Bowie, it was written by him.
I got to see Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson, live in San Francisco one night and on Midnight Special the next. Still a treasured memory!
And the Who, with You Better, You Bet
I second that choice
Enjoying your videos. It’s refreshing to see this generation discover the music that I grew up with and took for granted. There’s so much more to come and you’ve barely scratched the surface. Have fun!
Power Station, Robert Palmer’s group, did a fantastic cover of this in the 80s and it became one of their best! Definitely worthy of a reaction!
My friend and I wore out a copy of The Electric Warrior album that this track was taken from. The needle literally wore right through the vinyl!
Marc Bolan on vocals and guitar
Steve Peregrin Took on bongos or as in this video, congas (I believe)
Steve Currie on bass and Bill Legend on drums
Other T.Rex tracks to check out: Light Of Love, 20th Century Boy, Children Of The Revolution, Planet Queen, Slider, Telegram Sam, Metal Guru, Solid Gold Easy Action, Rip-Off,
100% ban❤gers
Oh yeah!
This song and "Radar Love" by Golden Earring were played constantly back in the day. Love it!
Thoroughly enjoyed your reaction as always! KEEP ON REACTING GUYS - you’re both naturals! All the very best, from Davie & Donna (in BONNIE SCOTLAND).
I saw t.rex live in Wembley 1971 aged 11
Now i am 62 and and from that day in until now . I adore him
I am an old lady in my sixties living in the U.K. I had the biggest crush on Marc Bolan, he was so sexy and beautiful!❤️🇬🇧
My First "School Disco" This Song Was Pumping Out When We Arrived.. Imagine That At 11yrs Young..Loved T Rex And Was Mortified When Marc Left Us..A True Showman..And Then Freddie Arrived!..🇬🇧
Great review. ! Marc Bolan was a huge influence on UK rock music. He was a genius.
Love T Rex , their music is timeless 🎵👍🎵👍🎵
Those tall drums are congas, as someone else noted.
Micky Finn, he was pretty hot!
Or Bongos
Bongos are smaller
@@MrDaggett59 mine are bigger 😜
THIS SONG! Back to my junior high days, mercy! We thought we were cool playing this at one of our after school dances.
You should react to Metal Guru , 20th century boy ,Children of the revolution or Ride a White swan as everyone is reacting to Get it on.Hot Love is another good song from T Rex
That was how I looked in the early 70s. I took my fashion cue from Marc Bolan. In 1971 I was 23 and very , very popular with the girls.
73 now, how time flies.
They weren’t playing live, lip syncing to a recording. That’s why Amber didn’t see the horns.
When the band started out in 1967 they were called Tyrannosaurus Rex.
Yes
This was also covered by The Power Station which was an Outside Project of Duran Duran. The Members were Tony Thompson (RIP) The Drummer for Chic who never got the recognition he so richly deserved, John Taylor (Bass), Andy Taylor (Guitar), and Robert Palmer (RIP) which was a major comeback for him.
The supergroup Power Station covered this in the 80's and their version was really good too, thanks to the vocals of Robert Palmer. Definitely worth checking out.
On Power Station's version, Tony Thompson pounded on those drums like they owed him money...
Have not heard them since 1980's when I broke a tape of their music, thanks brings back good memories as a young man,
So much better than the 80's cover version.
Gone waaaay too soon. RIP Marc
Good lord! It's about fifty years since I've heard this and must have been on Top Of The Pops!
Just for playing Marc Bolan i have subscribed. Respect!! Same as all below.
Hope she cried & not died over his tragic death.
Hahaha... yeah I meant crying!
@@Jimbridge74
Phew! 😅
I was 18 at the time, I also cried 😢
Power Stations version is EXCELLENT,!!!!
It's almost sacrilegious to say this. But, I actually prefer the Power Station version.
No, just no!
@@langlsd1604 No. Nowhere near a good. I know it's imo but just naw.....
@@langlsd1604 You're not alone. Robert Palmer's vocal presence alone makes it just as good a listen.
Saw them in concert in 1973, awesome experience.
Now that you’ve heard it, you might be interested in the remake from ‘85 I think by The Powerstation (Robert Palmer, Andy Taylor (the guitarist from Duran Duran), John Taylor from Duran Duran, and Tony Thompson). It is louder and edgier. Whether that’s good or bad, it was a worthy remake.
how is it possible to still sound so good amazing.
It's about time you guys reacted to some of THE DOORS music. Try "LA Woman or Soul Kitchen or Roadhouse Blues" for starters ...I guarantee you will want more after you do
Morrison Morrison Morrison!😁 I could go for some Roadhouse blues! But their naughty version of Gloria is good also, ha!
Riders on the storm gets my vote 👍😁
This Saturday 28th Aug off to see T.REX no.1 tribute T.REXTASY. waited sooo long for this and to feel like 70s teenager again
Robert Palmer along with John and Roger Taylor from Duran Duran remade this song. The name of their band was Power Station. Give it a listen, it's really good
John and Andy, not Roger. Roger was with Simon and Nick doing Arcadia.
@@dipsydoodle7988 OHHH yes...idk why i said Roger. Thank you for correcting me.
@@CinShiba it's all those Taylors. 😂
@@dipsydoodle7988 and their not related! 🤦♀️
@@StaciaAmnaber 😆🤦🏻♀
From my youth! Rockn' roll, the best music.
It is Bang A Gong in the US as there was a song called Get It On already released. Record co thought it would be less confusing.
@@sukie584 True but if you are going to react to a music video of a British Band performing a song that they wrote isn't only right to use their title of the song and not one given to it by the US.
@@alanjames5586 they have no idea about this. They’re just reacting. I’m sure it’s titled based on the video they used. The algorithm in the US probably has videos with US title first.
@@sukie584 The video they are playing is titled Get it On on the top left hand corner of the screen.
Who knows. Maybe it’s what the requester told them it was called. It’s not a nefarious plot to undermine the British Empire. They’re reactors. Se la vie..
another song the past - I grew up blasting this song while hanging out in the summer at the playground where hung out - you picked a lot of good old toons - one of favorite people who do reactions
First famous glam rocker! David Bowie was heavily influenced by Marc Bolan! Not a music video, but a tv performance! If you watched the movie Baby Driver, his song in there is Debora that he sings when he meets the waitress!
That track Debra in Baby Driver is Beck. Pretty sure Marc Bolan wasn't singin' about "step into my Hyundai" and such. Maybe Beck lifted part of that song from a T-Rex track??
I love to boogie on a Saturday night probably my favourite .all of his songs were great
Might want to give Power Stations cover a listen.
it's awesome
Thank you, I couldn't remember the band name. Power Station, that was it. Had members of Duran Duran in it, IIRC, yes?
@@TheAlmaward Yes John Taylor and Andy Taylor from Duran Duran and Robert Palmer was lead singer.
@@muc405 Dont forget "Chic' drummer Tony Thompson slaughtering the drums on that track. Or Caroline Cossey aka Tula screwing with boys definitions of sexuality and who could be sexy in the clip.
I may not be popular saying it, but I prefer Power Station's version. But I think it's because I hadn't known it was a cover, and for ME, it was the original. LOL.
This is great "You Got a Hubcap Diamond Star Halo, You are Dirty and Sweet and I Love You" It means nothing and so much .. One of the coolest lines in a song ,, Something like that ...
Let's try some outside the box classic rock.
Pianos, hard rock and even a bit of fantastic FLUTE playing.
Jethro Tull- Locomotive Breath.
Lets go Living in the past 👍😁
I've heard this song thousands of time and didn't know who sang it. Wow, thanks for educating me on this.
Try "Come and Get Your Love" by Redbone. I think you will be happily surprised
Wow! Found an old one I've not seen! And a great one! You just got to move to this one! Great dance tune! Memories ✌❤🎶
Listen to the version of this by the Power Station. You’ll be impressed
cover version no way near as good this was one of my first records I bought class act were t Rex Robert palmer was good bit originals are usually best
Why?
@@alanjames5586 because the original is the best
25 years for basically a gbh charge are you not a bit upset about it are you putting in for compo
John Taylor!! So under-rated
I was a freshman in high school when this came out. The best way to describe the sound of this song is when less is more.
