The conclusion is : you have to drink 330 ml water per kg body the whater should be enriched with minerals ( celtic salt in water ) or there is minerals sachets to mineralise water . Water shouldn’t be tap water ( full of chlorine germs heavy metals and fluoride) filltered water is the best option or directly from the source

I have POTS so I need more water and electrolytes than most people, my cardiologist prescribed me extra salt in my diet lol. One of the main symptoms of POTS is brain fog and fatigue, so I know that when I'm struggling to string a sentence together and feel like everything is taking 5x the effort to due because of mental sluggishness, it's time for a spoonful of soy sauce for emergency salt intake. And then when my brain is working a bit better 5-15 minutes later, I can address whatever caused my POTS symptoms to get that bad (whether it's needing food, water, rest, or mixing up an electrolyte drink for a more balanced source that also has the right amount of potassium and glucose for optimal absorption and hydration)

I have issues with dehydration, due to having had both gastric bypass surgery & a colectomy. It's hard for me to get enough to drink in. Just recently I went to an Urgent Care due to bad cold & a yukky lingering cough. My BP was 69/39 and my heart rate was high. I got pumped full of fluids & felt so much better. It actually helped me 'turn the corner' after feeling terrible for about 4 weeks. Within a week my cold symptoms were gone & the cough soon followed. Getting enough fluids in is definitely very important.

So I’m not a bio student but I’m pretty sure that electrolytes (protons dissolved in water) are important for nerve function and transmitting information in nerve cells. They are used to maintain the resting potential (electrical current in a non excited/stimulated cell so that the action potential (stimulation current) can actually be achieved. That has to do with sodium-potassium-pumps in the cell membrane that return access ions to their position to maintain the basic current of -70mV within the nerve cell. That’s all I remember from my bio class in school tbh and I’m not sure if I used the correct words bc I had to translate it to English but I hope this helps

That’s crazy I once had a similar experience. I had an allergic reaction to something I ate which at that time I thought was food poisoning from a juice I had at a restaurant. Turns out I am severely allergic to falafel which after eating a falafel wrap made me throw up for literally 6 hours straight. I couldn’t move, I couldn’t breathe normally, I couldn’t eat or drink anything and I was probably also hallucinating while dry heaving. My parents ended up calling an ambulance in the middle of the night bc I started getting a fever and cramping. By the time they were there I was better, they checked my vitals, asked a bunch of questions and bc I was feeling better and could actually keep two slices of apple and some water in they left again (Glad medical service is free here). Since I still didn’t know that that was an allergic reaction I ate falafel burgers twice more and felt sick again, less bad bc less falafel part but then I realised the pattern. I love falafel but they’re really not worth the reaction

I was drinking coffee to much and never ate, it's called hyernatreamia but hyponatreamia when the sodium is too high. Doc is ok with my sodium now, it's never gone back to normal but now sits between 127 and 130 it varies each mo th when I have my bloods checked. Although that is true and a good assessment, however if a patient becomes disoriented(particularly in elderly patients) it is also imperative to run some tests like a urine screening/culture. Many times when they become disoriented is because they have a UTI. I would definitely have consequences if one of my paitients has an altered mental status and my only intervention was to give some food. @@marliokono6292

Drinking too much water can also be counter productive and dangerous. Gotta make sure you're only consuming the right amount daily. I usually only drink water when I'm thirsty. Or I'll add powdered electrolytes in my water.

Start taking magnesium because everybody is magnesium deficient. Once you get your magnesium level up to normal you can start thinking about adding electrolytes into the system to make it work efficiently.
