I met these guys a couple years ago after a show. I was so nervous lol. Dug and Jerry just smiled and looked at me like ... dude it’s ok hahaha. We started talking and I swear to you that they acted more excited about meeting me than I did about meeting them. These guys are my heroes and after meeting them I now consider them my friends. They’re as genuine and real as the day is long. 100% CLASS ACT
These guys were a local band from Missouri, or at least they spent some serious time in Missouri. Other bands that played with them said they were the most awesome people, and that they would loan out their mics and PA equipment to other bands that couldn't afford their own, etc. All around just good people as well as great musicians.
So funny you say that.. I took my dad to see them as,they opened for Extreme . And when I told them I brought him for his birthday they couldn't taken more pix or signed any more items, all class
Todd Hopwood I’m 47 and have been a fan since around 1990. They say you should never meet your heroes because you’ll be disappointed. Well , I wasn’t disappointed at all. I love The Who and Rush , Zeppelin etc.. King’s X are right up there with the greatest bands of all time in my opinion but after meeting them they now hold a special place in my heart that those other bands will never hold. King’s X forever man!!!!
@@tonydardi332 right on!
I can almost ditto that story at NAMM Show Doug was walking by himself and walked up and asked him if I could shoot a picture told him I loved him and Kings X and he said I love you to man and gave me a hug + picture, got to hang out and talk with him a little bit and he introduced me to the female bass player in white zombie forget her name... they are truly awesome guys
The first present I bought my girlfriend in 1991 was a Gretchen goes to Nebraska T-shirt. 16 years later we named our first daughter after the album.
Hope it got you laid, cuz it was a worthy offering🤘😎
@@KOLDBLU3ST33L well considering he wrote they had a kid together i think its pretty obvious he got laid!
that is really great.
Mick Jagger has been quoted as saying ‘Gretchen Goes To Nebraska is one of the best albums ever recorded’. 🙏🏼♥️🕊

George Fotis very useful. Thx
My man !!!
George Fotis thanks for takin the time.
Thank you George Fotis. 👍🏼🎼
Dug can still do it now, even at 357 years of age.
When your audience can/ and does sing your whole set list you know you've accomplished something pretty special, and what a feeling that must be to have that many people reflect back to you the vision and emotion you created for them .... To know something you created touches that many people in a positive way has got to be one of the best feeling someone could have, Doug, Ty, and Jerry, thank you for King's X✌🏼️
Must be an incredible feeling.
Aschule amen
So true I have loved this band since their inception and still enjoy them to this day glad to see Jerry is back to rockin with the boy's !
That's a good thing because Doug's voice is completely toast unfortunately... I have loved this band from day one but the fire is gone !
Aschule, what you are describing is called "Love" - and exactly this is what washes on stage from the audience at every gig...
I've had the privilege to film from behind backline couple of times; what comes from the audience is amazing, and tangible -
nourishment for the band; it's what keeps 'em going.
So I saw them for the first time in 1989 on MTV. They blew me away and I became an instant fan and tried to turn all my friends and family onto them since that time. My love for the band has not changed in all that time. I own every single record and all of their solo work too. And I never miss a show if they are within a 2 hour drive from where I live. And whenever they came here to my hometown of Hampton, NH? I thought I died and went to heaven. My kids were all there. They literally grew up listening to KING'S X. They know every song by heart. It was a great night for all of us. There simply is NO band on the planet that sounds like them.
I'm almost 68 years old, haven't seen them live but I love their sound, music and their vibe. I have been playing guitar since The Beatles were on Ed Sullivan - Ty blows me away....WOW !
I seen them do an acoustic show live and it was off the charts..
Around 91...
Ciao Jack, Man, I'm almost 56 ... and I've been playing since I was a kid ... Ty Tabor was the Godfather of grunge ... one of the first to use open tunings ... to bring new atmospheres and tone, just like you say mate, there's just to say Wow every time I hear them ... Greetings from Northwest Italy
62 now but did get to see them a couple of times during thre 90's. I caught their Faith Hope Love CD being played at a random music shop in PDX in '90 I rekon? Moanjam and I was hooked.
Note that dUg is almost 69 at the time of this show! He's a god!
Rock keeps you young -- or immortal perhaps
3 tour dates in New England later this month, that might be the last chance to see them. If they ever make it out to the Rocky Mountains I will be thrilled to see them for a 3rd time. Saw them twice on the Tape Head tour.
What these guys do is pure tone and rhythmic magic. I have heard a million and one rock bands in my 52 years, and lot of them are / were really good, but NO ONE sounds like these guys. In this day of everyone copying everyone, King's X stands head and shoulders above the rest!
For all the kids and ones who don't remember.... THIS IS WHAT A BAND WITH NO TAPES SOUNDS LIKE!
Ummm... a band with no tapes?🧐🧐
As much as I love Rush, at some point they started making music they couldn't replicate on stage and started relying on triggered rhythm guitars, keyboards and chorus vocals. KX has always kept a true 3-piece band dynamic, never any gimmicks on stage!
Sound engineer for this show knows what he's at big time.
He did a fantastic job. If you need a sound engineer, Jeffrey Kesler is the man!
I love all of the King’s X albums. Some are better than others but none of them are “bad”. King’s X is a very unique band combining Beatle like harmonies with low heavy tunings and gospel like soul singing. Very emotional songs with prog like compositions. Ty Tabor is one of the greatest guitarists of our time. Jerry Gaskill is a “pocket machine”. Dug is a phenomenal bassist and one of the greatest singers to ever step in front of a microphone. King’s X is one of the greatest rock bands of all time.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present the world's most under appreciated band. The's guys are MONSTERS!!! They still sound freakin' amazing. Thanks for posting.
Frank Black damn right they are
Could not agree more!!
But what an incredibly faithful and loyal fan base they have. It puts other acts to shame. These fans will never forget these guys and would gladly give their left arm to help them with anything. How many other groups can say the same thing?
Absolutely agree---
@Frank Black ... I agree 100% with you. King's X have always been criminally underrated for some reason that I will never understand. Almost everyone I have ever turned on to them winds up loving them plus anyone who has hung out with me since the late 1980s has almost always become a huge fan as well. I have seen them live on 3 occasions with the first time being the "Ear Candy" tour. I loved them before seeing them live but after seeing them I was blown away even more than I ever thought I could be. I also love ALL of their solo projects as well. I am also a guitar player and "try" to play some of their songs. All 3 of them are so talented and all 3 can sing lead vocals as well. When. I saw them on the "Ear Candy" tour in Boston (Lansdowne St) when they played "It's Love" while Ty was playing the solo he walked over to Dug and carried on a conversation while never missing a note! I have seen a lot of bands live and Rush is my favorite with King'sX being tied for first as my favorite band and I have NEVER seen ANY band or guitarist ever do this. I am from NH and saw them play NH on the Tape Head tour around early 1999 at a venue that does not exist anymore in Manchester, NH called Chantillys. It was on the Hooksett border and was so awesome! It was a small place with only 2 pool tables between the band and me. Thanks for sharing this concert as I could not make this show due to health reasons but I am hoping they will make their way back here to NH if they tour again in the near future. I appreciate you taking the time to record & share this. My kids are grown up and in their mid to late 20s and they are also huge fans along with my wife of them as well. The family that listens to King's X together stays together! 😊🎼🎸😄
These guys are so ahead of time, the world will have giant meteor hit it before people are ready for this.
They have the craziest off beat sound and chord changes all through one song I've ever heard a band try and do.
They're definitely from Mars.
If this doesn't bring a smile to your face, and keep you coming back to listen to over and over again, you have no musical taste, appreciation, and might just be dead inside. Thumbs down on this?! What kind of wanker gives this a thumbs down?
I have all their albums but regrettably have only seen them once when my wife surprised me on my birthday with the show as my present. She's a keeper (I say 30 years later). I just wish that Kings x would stop in Las Vegas, NV, where i live when they tour.
Look into plane tickets. I live in New England. In January 2018, I flew to Texas for $80 each way. Saw em in Dallas, Houston and Austin. It was an absolute no brainer. Just keep an eye on plane tickets and you'll find its doable.
Jerry is playing those drums like his life depended on it! One of the best drummers on the planet. I’m a bass player. I depend on my drummer.
Especially in a 3-piece rock band!
No good band can be without a good rhythm section it's what moves the whole band you are nothing without a good drummer or bassist and I am a guitar player!
Quiet
I think his vocal skills whilst drumming put him on a higher level.
Jerry is so in the pocket, it’s crazy. Both Pinnick and Tabor have played with the likes of Duplantier and Morgenstein, but none of them brings out the magic out of those two like Jerry does. I also love how hard Jerry hits, but doesn’t overplay. Such a killer drummer
One of the greatest bands. I always thought of them as the heavy metal Beatles.
Totally!
Jody Lowe oh don’t say that I love kx they are nothing like the beatles !
@@brucifer0 Yes Sir Bruce.
Jeremy Rock
Unless you listen to:
Mr Wilson
Me too!!
This band changed my life...
Probably not in the way you think. But it was good.
How so?
@@notreallysure9 Well ...about the time I figured out life isn't perfect. I happen to run across King's X.. Let's say 1990. It was nice to hear someone sing about something other than party's and girl's ,and mix it up so much that it almost sounded like two different bands.
I met them back around 89 during OOTSP..
Gave Dug a cassette of all the 20+ takes/ versions of Strawberry Fields
Kings X was the rock music I ever heard. My wild uncle rode over on his motorcycle and gave 10 year old me a few cassettes. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
Thank you for being on a record player in my bedroom when I needed your songs
Words fail and fall short to describe the character of these guys..I've seen them dozens of times and met them and talked to them on car hoods after the shows, even got invited to a New Years eve party at Doug's which was a blast!..the genuineness of them all is like a fresh blast of oxygen filled life..real quick..my brother Loved this band as do I,he had his entire collection of KingsX stolen twice,he wrote Doug and jokingly told him what happened, this man took time out of recording with Stone Gossard to burn their entire library on CD and send it to my brother who had unfortunately been killed, since the letter, in a car wreck..his daughter now proudly has that library sitting alongside my brothers old guitar..Love u guys..
Awesome story! Thanks for sharing! I can attest that they are incredibly kind, generous and humble people.
We can all imagine that your brother has the King's X catalog on repeat, turning on all the angels God and Jesus into superfine!
Wonderful story!
Few concert experiences are as memorable as a King's X Goldilox encore. This is what a true fanbase looks and sounds like.
I always sing at the top of my lungs & Dug always gives me a huge smile, some of the best times of my life!
Great underrated band,i'm a believer since Out Of The Silent Planet,Dug is 68,sounds and looks great!
Gretchen goes to Nebraska
No idea he was that old! He's killing it still.
You and me both!
one of the greatest of ALL time...
You can see how much they like playing together. All these years... amazing. If there has ever been a better 3 piece band, I've never heard it.... Cream, Rush, Whoever... I'll take Kings X every time.
They jumped into my all-time top-5 over 25 years ago. And there they shall remain.
@Laura Mounier rock on!
@Laura Mounier Longer than that actually. They broke through in the late 80s.
Just love these guys. What a great band!!
If these guys could get on Joe Rogan. They would get 30 years of recognition
I've seen these guys about 20 times in my life and it always gets better every time.
My dad actually put me on them as a kid and always enjoyed them
Your Dad must be pretty cool.
Where in the hell have I been ??? I've been listening to rock music since 1975...I have heard their name dozens of times but have never listened or looked into them and I saw Dug in that metal show with Eddie Trunk and thought I would check out a few videos and they are so bad ass !!! I'll these years have passed that I could have went and seen them !!! God I'm stupid
Bryan Powers, thanks for uploading this, really appreciate it.
King's X, Thin Lizzy and The Jimi Hendrix Experience are my absolute three favourite bands.
Been with King's X since 'Out of the Silent Planet' in 88, but first saw them supporting Anthrax at Victoria Hall, Hanley, England, 21st June 1989, then 7th April 1990 at The Hummingbird, Birmingham, UK, headlining.
I've seen them every single time they've been to the UK, often multiple times per tour.
I'll never get enough of this band. They're part of my history.
I still feel like a kid when I listen to their music and go to their gigs.
When they get back on tour I'm taking time off work to go to every gig they do in the UK.
Can't wait.
Again, thanks Bryan, excellent quality upload 👍
Ty is still the man!!!! Love his playing and tone!
His solos are ALWAYS perfectly fitting for the song, never overdone. Dude's an underrated beast!
Ty's tone is the best strat tone out there. I'm generally not a fan of distorted strat guitar sounds, but he gets it so heavy...
Last word he has a recording studio in KCMO
I find myself loving King's X more and more as the years go by.
Welcome back, Jerry... I am praying this is a miracle, and everything is okay
Yes...and after a heart attack! He really sounds as good as ever! Holding the band together and not 'missing a beat'.
I have known about them since the beginning. For whatever reason, I did not jump on the bandwagon so to speak. I am so glad that I have saved them for now. It’s so refreshing. Their wonderful outlook on life and the way they embrace their fans. Their message to the fans each and every show is a one of kindness, love and peace. Making the world a better place one song at a time. I hope I have the opportunity to share them with my kids before it’s too late. To see them live with my daughters would be the best. My oldest is almost ready for her very first live show. I can’t think of a better band to experience that. Hopefully, she will look back one day and say “my dad took me to see kings X for my first show.” Many Thanks! Much Love!
There's a special magic that forms in the crowd during a Kings X live show, that I've never felt at any other live show. I've seen these guys so many times, I can't count how many. I haven't seen them in years, however, owing to the fact that I moved to the Pacific Northwest, which rarely comes up on their tours. However, this year (2022), I may get a chance to see them again, in Texas.
They are the nicest, most sincere guys, you've ever met.
Also, Dug is, and must be, immortal. He is 69 in this video...that's all the proof I need to say he is immortal. All three of them are gods.
Saw their Faith Hope Love tour and their dogman tour. I'm from Texas and these guys are one of the giants down there. They are loud and tight as a mutha. One of my favorite bands of all time.🎵🎵🎵

I never listen to their music, tonight I became a fan. Thanks for sharing this incredible masterpiece.
Welcome 🙏 to Kings X
This band is so good. One of my faves. You should check out KXM too.
See how in the chorus of Groove Machine, Doug spent the whole song singing backup to... the AUDIENCE? He let the audience be the lead singers of that song. That’s what i will always love about King’s X... they enjoy the music WITH their audience and are not just there trying to show off their musical intellect. They’re connecting deeply and rawly with their audience all the time because that’s why they do what they do. To connect and share a visceral experience that can only be shared through music. Way too many singers, and other musicians for that matter, are there on that stage trying to be the centre of the room, to be a show pony exalted by the audience for their skills... and wouldn’t think of enjoying the music WITH the audience the way Doug did here in the very first song.
Yeah!!! They're having church baby! Wonderful concert to experience with these Brother's
HOW MANY TIMES CAN I WATCH THIS...ALOT!!
there are no words ....but thank you for this....seen em alot met them...one of the greats...!!!
CIGARETTES!!!!!!!!!! All time favorite
Welcome back, Dug... we never gave up on you, bro
I fucking LOVE this band. No qualifiers, I fucking LOVE this band. Can never get enough.
I saw them in 2003 it was incredible I have been a huge fan since I discovered them in the 80's much love to all who love King's X
Saw KingsX in Providence RI circa 1991 with Saigon Kick opening, jaw dropping set with stunningly low attendance.
I was at that show. Agreed! Not a lot of people, but, one HELL of a performance.
with Saigon Kick, another favorite!
i have been on x since 1990 out of a silent planet.
About the same time for me. Those earlier albums bring up some incredible memories.
My most favorite band of all time
One of THEE GREATEST BANDS in the whole friggin' world! Great video!!
Just curious who are your other two? Just got into these guys and need more like them.
@@annatheduck Check out Dug Pinnick's (the bassist of King's X) other band "KXM" with George Lynch from Dokken on guitar and Ray Luzier of Korn on drums. Wicked great band. Another one on my list is a bit of a different bent - Triptykon - progressive doom metal headed by Thomas Fischer of Celtic Frost. Cheers!
Wow - such great music.
loves king's x and this comment section
king's x forever
God, I would like to have been there singing goldilox!
Such an underrated band ! Ty's playing is so fluid every time very solid.
Saw this excellent band at Bristol Bierkeller in 2017 Excellent gig by a well underated fucking excellent band
life is good. Kings X SLAMMING again.
Cigarettes......wow.
Music SLAYED too, Intro to the band.
Huge fan since 1989! Their music is a higher plain than most! Deserve a place at the table
Same here! Soundtrack to many significant moments in my life. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and watching!
Bryan Powers thank you sir
we were born to be loved, amazing. I've seen live three times wish it was more. incredible, favorite band and I love most of the the side projects!
Absolutely fantastic sound in noise canceling headphones.
How can anyone not love this band?
Ty Tabor is TREMENDOUS
They are all "monsters" lol.
Ty is consistently great! Such cool “Ace Frehley Shake” as they say...
The Strat sound just works with the Dugness!
19:16 is the culmination of a good time. The random toast up in the air. Truly an awesome moment in the church.
I particularly like it when dUg changes the melody to suit his voice today. A Box and Summerland, for instance. In fact I think he should do it more. Go dUg!
It's a common thing with older rock singers...Ozzy Rod Strwart Bob Segar...can go on and on
THEY ARE PLAYING ON CRUISE TO THE EDGE THIS YEAR!!!
Seen them many times over the years, but never on the prog rock cruises .. they're gonna tear it up!
Life just wouldn’t be the same without Kings X!!! They should not ever not have a sound Check!!!
Welcome back, Ty... you fucking rock, you are God's love in a guitar player
Dig doesn’t age at all! Can’t believe he was born in 1950!!
I broke my KX cherry in '89 in ATL @ the Roxy. The louder it got, the sweeter. Dug blew like 2 bass rigs then they did a beautiful acoustic set. I laughed, screamed and cried (joyful tears)...and got done in my earhole. Ive been chasing that high ever since.
That is a storied show! I think there are boots of it floating around out there! Glad you're enjoying them all these years later! Can't wait for the new record! WooHoo!
I will love this outstanding band forever! Thank You for this great upload.. Now I´m much more full of anticipation when King´s X is coming to Germany in September!
Soon every song will be audience . Love this band too much for that !
Rare Form They ruined cigarettes with that
dUg and Jerry came outside and shook everyone's hands which arrived early.
Lonestar Bar KCMO mid 1990's
57:20 the look of happiness when your in-ears/monitors are finally sorted. 👍👍😁
How good is King's X? Their groupies consist of other band's STAR PLAYERS! Stellar upload, Bryan Powers (who indeed, does have great powers!)
This is AMAZING! Thank you! From 80’s King’s X fan in Australia and never seen this legendary band of brothers, true genius’s at work!✌🏽😎🤟😁🖖🙏 Dave
I hope you get to see them some day! I've been a fan since 1988. Grew up in Texas, now live in Los Angeles; still haven't seen them live. My favorite band ever and I've never seen them live but if I ever do I'll have tears in my eyes. That's no joke.
The 20 dislikes of this posting is proof positive that there will never be a shortage of assholes in the world.
I was at this gig and it rocked hard and heavy from the open number to the encore. Go Dug!
I saw these guys at a small venue in dallas in 90....i absolutely love this band. Nobody sounds like them
20 dislikes??? Wtf???! King's X is easily recognized as the world's most underrated band! How can anybody possibly dislike them??? Inconceivable! Ive seen kings x damn close to 100 times, even met the band. Great guys, legendary band!
Ty Tabor.... master of phrasing!
I had waited since 2003 for them to come back to Columbus OH, and i missed that show, from this tour. Looks like it was a fantastic show.
Jerry is one of the most underrated drummers in rock. Awesome musician.
He IS the groove machine!
Saw them in St Pete this tour. I ended up last in line. When Doug noticed I was last he stood up and said "you don't get a handshake, you get a hug! I was able to share my experience for directing and producing a music video set to "It's Love" for a class project in film/video production school. We got an A! Doug and the guy's were wowed! Love you from my deepest heart Kings X❤
Brilliant band.
Holy Mackeral are these guys amazing !!!!!
First time I saw these guys was on the Dogman tour. Saw em at the Starry Night Club. Portland, Or Catch a rising star series , saw em for 2.99$ awesome...
I first saw them on that tour too...at Woodstock 94!
If there weren't a King's X, it would be necessary to invent them.
Wish they would come to Minnesota
The absolute perfect combination of heavy and funky !!
dUg !!!!!! he was awesome on the Closing night of Experience Hendrix in wallingford CT.. I'm so jealous !! THANK YOU for this video !!!!
I could play Jerry air drums all day!
Just started smiling when I heard the first notes. Damn I love these guys
I love the guy yelling “fuck yeah” throughout the show... I feel ya bro😂😂😂🤘🏾
We’re looking for something to whet our appetites until the new KINGS X album comes out!!! We hope Jerry’s health is on an upward spiral!!
got introdudced to them in the early 90s when i was in colorado learning how to ski...it,s love
God I love these guys. Thanks for the upload!
THANK YOU👍👍👍👍👍👍👍For this!!!
Thank you for another outstanding video Bryan! Much appreciated!
Thanks for posting...love these guys!! They sound great!
