Slight correction (with respect) regarding event DJing for weddings and such. Most of the time, clients are going to expect that you have your own live gear (speakers, mixers, etc), or rent gear. That will cost money.
@@atrain421 I wouldn't go so far as to say he doesn't know what he's talking about as some of these are fine ideas,, but more information is definitely needed.
Awesome vid! I just want to clarify that you are describing a stagehand here 3:34 not really a live sound engineer. Can’t really get that title without having some experience in the live sound world. I know it’s a small thing just my 2 cents. Still an awesome video! Thanks for making it!
Amazing energy of the host. I like that. One slight observation, is that regardless of the size of the event/venue, even if you`re just the guy connecting cables, you still some basic understanding of where every cable needs to go, what input. Otherwise there is a decent chance you`re not going there again.
You're the best Ed. Do you gave a playlist for Ableton vocal production? Its he daw I've decided to use cause i like it more than FL and you make learning fun. Heck your the reason ive left FL in 2023
Venues will not backline gear unless you are working with established clubs, venues, promoters, or production teams. Most often starting out as DJ, you will be using your own gear.
It's funny because number 2 is bassicly my job except I have a whole lot more variety event wise usually big festivals in the event season and smaller random jobs throughtout the off season
One thing about deejaying i hate, That it looks so easy but ain’t at all. I’ve been deejaying for 17 years and weddings are the hardest. Don’t get them confused ed 😎
ok actually that Live Sound Engineer thing is good to know I'm not old enough to do stuff like Teaching or Renting out a studio or DJing (because I doubt they would want a 16 year old even if I could do it), but I know there's somewhere in town where they have live shows and I'm sure they wouldn't mind the help
Seriously you feel it takes no talent to be a wedding DJ? When was the last wedding you attended?? The amount of formalities and detail that go into a wedding these days is off the charts. People don’t want “we are family” anymore. They want a club atmosphere…I could go on…so please don’t dismiss things you obviously have no clue about. Meanwhile festival DJs literally press play on a pre recorded set
Great video, however, all but one (affiliate marketing) are not side hustles...they are all full time hustles. You can't be an intern and have a full time job.
random question 😅 can 14 year olds get good festivals if they get noticed?? lmao so random but just wanna know :)😊 edit: a festival/gig as a 14yo dj/producer
@@officialskullfadermusic For sure! Being in a band would help you play gigs but djing big festivals I think just from a safeguarding point of view it probably wouldn't be responsible to have such a young person playing in an environment with lots of adults
Use the next couple years of your life to really dive deep and improve your skills. Once you’re on the other side of that process, you’ll be able to skip a lot of steps if you decide to do music as a job!! 😃
Your first point is terrible advice lol. Event djing requires money for live audio equipment, dj mixers and more. Could cost hundreds or thousands up front. Also people at events are not looking for something “more interesting than an iPod” they’re looking for pros who can properly MC and keep people dancing. Some of the most talented djs I’ve ever met are wedding djs, they keep multiple generations of people dancing for hours. If you’ve never DJ’d before DJ’ing a wedding is a bad place to start
But if your producing already and looking for a side hustle would you not have most of the basic equipment an skill to dj office parties school dances, random little events and then put the money in for better equipment for the purpose of dj'ing more efficiently at bigger events to make more money😅

Correct

THANK YOU ♠
Excellent!
Loved the video Ed! How do you think I could get started in DJing without any sort of mixer or anything? Do events usually provide them for you?

He literally just typed into chat GPT how to make a video about side hustles for youtube
Dude is clearly clueless. Anything for the clicks. He couldn’t even describe a stage hand properly..

Probably not since you’re a child. I think 16 would be the lower limit unless you’re like actually Beyoncé
