I now sell beats with zero social media. It wasn't until i quit making youtube vids and using Instagram that i started to succeed. Idkw but keeping my head down and building connections helped me more then a ton of content because it made me focus on the music not how i looked or how my brand looked
@JayCactusTV for sure. Its just weird how some things work for some while it doesn't for others and vice versa. Its a trip to me. Anyways, I wish you a successful 2024 brother keep up the grind. Cheers from California
@wojciechsawicki4733 what i ment was I dont advertise on socials, youtube or use a website. I just email labels and ad companies and use the connections ive made online and in person. Luck plays a factor in my honest and humble opinion
That's some real talk! I feel like having content on social media nowadays is more to show people that you're serious about your work and showcase the value you can bring rather than actually reaching tons of people through that content. I look at it as something that increases your authority with the people you build personal connections with. Takes lots of time and energy though, if you're not into that kind of stuff. Keep going bro! Looks like you've found your way. 🐘😈
7:35 Please do a video about copyright, loops, royalties and all that type of suff... would be very helpful for all of us that dont want to get in trouble by doing something wrong with all of that
Always waited for a video like this from you! Would love to see more content like this in the future. And to anybody out there: 2024 is gonna be your year. Stay focused and keep hustling, you will make it!
This has given me the inspiration to stop making excuses about working full time and having no time to make music. Gotta make time and dedicate it to work on the craft.
@@wozzbeats You have to set your priorities right and have to be aware of how you set them. If you need to work much in your job to get food on your plate, than that's your main priority. Don't see it as an excuse bc the time you spend in your job is literally that what lets you survive. But you have to set your priorities in your free time. If you want to make it as a producer, you need to think about if you just want to be on TikTok or Netflix to be enterntained (or other relaxing things) after work. Or do you want to put this time into creating your beats and paving your way to someting big. Both of these options are totally ok and legit. And if you decide for one of them it's no excuse but your decision for what's the best for you. Getting enterntained and relaxed is also really important after a long day of work. But as I said you have to be aware of the consequenses of your actions and be careful of what you do with your time. If you want to be more productive then you need to make a time schedule of how long you are relaxing and how long you are making beats after your work. You need to find a good mix of both bc if you try really hard to do or not to do one of these you're gonna end up unsatisfied. Just be aware of what and why you are doing something and set your priorities, bc then you won't be seeing sth as an excuse anymore but as a less-valued priority. All the best for you Bro and keep grinding!
Bro dropping gems as always 🔥 Busy was also my go to when I wanted to step up with my beat making game all those years ago. Strongly recommend his tutorials to everyone who's starting out.
YO!! First off, THANK YOU SO MUCH for what you do! Tomorrow (Jan 3) marks my 1-year anniversary of getting into music production, and my main goal in 2024 is to release some music. If it weren't for your tutorials, I don't think I would be ready to do that this year, but I've come a long way in a year, thanks in large part to your content. The sign of a great teacher is someone who can break something down in a way that's easy to comprehend and internalize for the uninitiated, and you totally hit that mark! Happy new year, and peace and blessings to you for 2024, the best is yet to come!! Oh btw, I have an idea for your ethnic/ other countries series- How about flipping some old school dub reggae into a drill beat? I think that would sound sick! Bless up!
5:06 - “Comparison is the thief of joy….”!! Wow, this is soooo true, not only in music production, but in all facets of life!! Thank you for this word of wisdom - I’m making it part of my armour!!
What a milestone jay has reached, I remember vividly when I subbed around 5-10k and seeing the growth is really inspirational, I’m a lazy producer and miss the drive but this video has really motivated me to go back to making beats again (1 year haitus) I just lost inspiration n like matrix I need to jack in , thank you for spoiling us with this banger man 🙏🏾 💙
Yo sup Jay? Nice to see your first or one of videos for 2024🎉 some really good stuff you Jam Packed in here for us!… Thanks a Million BUDDY 👌 .. I’ll be paying much more attention to your Advice and Tutorials for this year as I’ve decided it’s detrimental for my growth as a Music Producer! So yea man keep dropping those GEMS 💎💎 for us!🫵🤪 until next video… GRRRRR❌🦍
Dont get me wrong I love the cookup vcideos but I got soo much more value out of this video. As a producer that had placements years ago and never found the consistancy in placements and was feeling a bit lost at times over the years I decided to start making content over this last year and this shares so much valuable insights in some of the directions I was planning to go down. Hope you had a good holiday/new years period 🌵
Congrats on 230K Jay! Glad to see you keep growing as you've been bringing immense value with your videos! You can always find something new to learn, no matter if you're advanced or a beginner producer.
This was insightful Jay. I mean this is the type of info you get from people you have a drink with and even then, people aren’t as candid. So, thanks bruh bruh
Rate this bro i used to watch you and the uk man all the time before actually making beats, in school 2015 i learnt the basics but never really got to do any creation as i finished, didn't touch or think about music for years until like 2018, made beats for 2 - 3 years learning and trying different genres finding the beats i like to make before i even showed anyone anything i felt was actually good, watching you and the guys vids has helped elevate my mindset, my production rate, and ethic to music creation so thank you man fr you gotta give the flowers where its due coz yous are more than producers, teachers not gate keepers!
You have given me some tips. And to be honest I have been watching your videos. From recent to current even your latest and I appreciate you taking out time to help improve the producer community. God bless you
"just make beats, doesn't matter if they're good or bad" is such a great advice, I often get blocked after finishing first few layers of the melody because I'm afraid to ruin the beat, I'm now learning to get through that part
I feel you! I also find myself in that same spot, I don't get blocked as not to finish the beat/sample, but it takes much more than it would if I just let it flow. Like, cooking without expectations, just doing what sounds good at the moment and not really thinking much about the outcome sometimes does wonders.
Yeah it’s not only because of making beats regardless of how they are BUT by doing so, you’re subconsciously giving yourself permission to not be perfect, allowing yourself to make mistakes in which you can learn from to be better. That’s why you produce no matter how they sound
@@eleffanbeats I’ve been similar positions before.. the closest is creator block. The other is aiming for perfection. The other is aiming too high in any endeavour of music production whether it’s melodies, pattern, instruments, etc (basically avoiding the less is more principle - although sometimes more is good). The way I fought this is to set a goal for the day regarding your music… I’ll set a goal to finish the introduction for an instrumental today.. tomorrow the build up, the next day the verse… set small goals.
I appreciate the vid, much 💙!!! I'm 29 and I've only been making beats for a little over a year now. It's one of the best experiences, meeting all the amazing ppl and having the opportunity to better myself in the music industry. Having this video available, gives me a better understanding. Once again Thanks and keep Hustling!!!!! 💯😎🤙
That’s a good point! There’s so many producers and people in general who focus too on the presence and impressing others… when if you block out the socials, and the influence of others then it’ll be easier to succeed! Good point
From a beginner producer perspective, I have found this video very essential. Very good information and very helpful. Thanks, Jay. i have learned so much since i started following your channel for almost 3 years now. I have finally managed to connect with someone to work on a project. All i did was play some beats ( everythijg I learnt watching your tutorial) and that was it. Now we have a plan and collaborating to make some music together. I am hoping for a more productive 2024 and thanks again Jay. Wishing you all the best for 2024. Happy New year bro. ❤😊
I feel so glad for you man.. the thrill of having a client especially your first ever client makes you feel like being self-employed and you feel this is real. Well done! If you’re new to producing get testimonials from clients which you can use to sell to new clients.
very helpful man. thanks. I've would love to see a video on how to build loop/drum/midi kits, how to design them and how to bring it to the audience. 🙏🏼
Real talk bro. So many ppl plan the future of their music careers, they forget to create a past for their future. I got a guy I chilled with from college and he has spent around £12,000 on musical equipment and he can't even make a solid beat as of yet! I got my Razer Laptop, Focal headphones, RME babyface and my VSTs! All I will ever need! Much love brother! Have a prosperous 2024
Happy new year Jay Cactus 😀🙏. This is definitely the most influential and motivational videos that I've come across. One video that contains so much valuable information.
