- In the magazine this week, maple syrup was a key ingredient in the "In Season" recipe. Don Lee of PDT may use maple syrup to make his old-fashioned, but we couldn't get past the bacon-infused bourbon that is the base of the drink. Bacon? Bourbon? We're in. And since we took our camera to PDT yesterday to watch Lee prepare the drink himself, we can all practice at home. Frequently. Video by Jonah Green

Theres nothing i love more than bacon flavoured drinks.
@damasterblaster also: he's not putting his hand on the glass rim. He's rubbing the orange peel around it so that orange aroma stays near the nose. it's a very common technique use in classic and contemporary bars...i'm surprised you aren't familiar with it.
Wild! I'd love to try this and most of the other pdt recipes. Too bad I'm in CA :(

@damasterblaster man, it's booze. and this is a classy joint. dude's a hell of a bartender. i don't know where you get the etiquette for glass-touching, but do you mind that bartenders zest citrus with their hands and drop it in? or are there special scoops and tongs for that, too?
While im not so sure on his recipie(though by the looks of things he knows more then my amature attempts) this dose look like a real nice bar and that looks like a nice drink ive goto try that thanks for the video
And if you blend in some scrambled eggs, pancakes and orange juice....you're all set.

Decent drink, but someone needs to teach this "bartender" that he NEVER touches a guest's glass rim, let alone handling all of this ice. Man invented scoops and tongs and it was good.

He says 1 ounce of bacon grease for 750ml bourbon, yet he scoops off what looks like way more than 6 ounces of fat from the bourbon. What's right?
let the bacon greese sit with the bourbon for 12-24hours before putting it in the freezer, you'll get more bacon flavor

I meant that in the sense that this drink was being made for demonstrational purposes only. Plus, any bartender would know better before doing that for a patron. For the DIY folks at home, I doubt they care.
