Classic 90's show activity in this vid. Harshly lit room. A stripped shirt. No bass player. Poorly attended. Kick Drum has to be pushed back every other song. People wearing Backpacks. Friends making unfunny / inside jokes between songs. Etc. CLASSIC. This is nostalgic for me. lol
It's not even a joke; these guys were pros right from the start. The golf course clapping at song end is a great unintended effect emphasizing the brutally of the band's sound.
I hope I meet an extreme metalhead one day, having them as a friend is a gift beyond words. Sharing shit like this, and having the same level of appreciation and joy towards the aggression is incredible. Deep down I love all music genres, but sorry not sorry, Metal is supreme. @@half-assedgaming2249 Agreed friend! Sometimes bands take multiple influences, and they lean more one way than the other. I found an awesome band called Rupture, you should check em out, also Discharge.
How many people in that audience do you think realized this band would go on to be one of the more important and better bands of the grind/HC/metal scene over the next 20 years? (or am I the only one who holds them in that high regard?)

Somebody uploaded footage from this show from another angle, but was in worse quality. The date in the title in the video I'm speaking of is November 22nd, 1997 and for some reason it says they performed at "Monkey Fest". Anyways, The quality here is pretty good for 97, and man, JR was a beast.

HOLY SHIT! They're were destroying shit even as kids. Fucking impressive! And unlike most other bands that stick together they still sound as hard as ever!
This was very typical in the PHILLY/PA New Jersey Hardcore/Screamo scene. They were good for kids no doubt but there were better more progressive HC bands with 16 year old kids. This guy sounds like he was influenced vocally by bands like my friends Frail and Iconoclast. Good band though!
I think the set list at my band's first show was: She Sells Sanctuary Gloria - sort of a Doors hybrid punk thing (which wasn't that bad) 3 original songs that sounded like the Ramones or Misfits or Minor Threat and Sunshine of Your Love - which was really just a cover of a cover of Fudge Tunnel's version and it was nothing like this. It was terrible. Embarrassing.

Same, almost 4 years and counting since I've been in love with the band and just now I'm getting merch and CDs from them.
Dude where do you get merch from them? I want a t shirt so bad. I'd love to find one with the phantom limb cover art on it

Pig Destroyer: ''AAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH''
Bass players:
Nice. Lol
Ahahahaha
As someone who likes bass is actually like Pig Destroyer as Scott does a good job getting a thick bass like sound out of his guitar.
They have one now!
It's not even a joke; these guys were pros right from the start. The golf course clapping at song end is a great unintended effect emphasizing the brutally of the band's sound.

Nope you are completely correct. So many biters to follow.
@Tony Glock They play too many metal riffs to ever just be punk rock.
@Tony Glock 00q
I love their stuff up to Phantom Limb. Their new stuff just doesn't do it for me anymore. Just a different sound I guess. This is still cool to watch.
One of the OG's of grind for sure!!
this is really a treat to get to see. JR's vocals are so raw and young.
Agreed. Its too bad his vocals aren't nearly as good now.
I can't believe this video even exists

The 7:49 song is a sailing on cover of bad brains no?
If anyone can tell me what pedal he use i'd be really happy.

Idk what he used in this particular show, but he used an Amptweker Tight Metal Pro distortion for a long time
That’s the foot switch to the amp on the floor so I’m guessing the distortion is all amp.
