Leprous once again breaking the barriers of music, creating a masterpiece. I can't believe anyone would actually say that leprous has "devolved". Truly a marvelous track, and if you don't believe me, listen to the full version (this is only the radio edit). The emotional, avant garde, dramatic outro features some gorgeous cello playing, and it will blow you away.
They have devolved in every single sense of the word. Sounds like you need to listen to Tall Poppy Syndrome and Bilateral and Coal. This shit ain't nowhere close. The Sky is Red is the closest they've ever come to prime Leprous level since Coal, by lightyears, and that didn't even exist when you originally commented lol.
Reborn with shiny dreams A spark of childish hope Glory to seek Headed for the top With no safety rope Afraid to turn around Forcing me to grow Finishing alive Only time will tell Clinging to a shaky line Insecure about what I will see Mounting the unstable peak It's overwhelming me I am stuck on mountains Mountains of doubt I am stuck on mountains Mountains of apathy The end is near to what I sought The goals has turned to dreams I fought My image changing silently The way back down is turning steep How do I stay away from self pity And back to sleep Where did I go wrong? I am stuck on mountains I am stuck on mountains Mountains of doubt I am stuck on mountains Mountains of apathy
"From the Flame" and "Stuck" are certainly different from what I used to associate with Leprous. The "prog pop rock" vibe of these songs make them different from the previous Leprous, reminding me of bands like Agent Fresco and Karnivool. Fortunately (for me), I like these bands. So even though I am really enjoying this direction, I can understand if someone is not as excited as I am with Malina. It is a matter of taste after all. But in the end, Leprous has always been like that, changing little by little, album by album. If you listen to their albums in order, there has always been a transition to a certain direction, which I also see as a good thing. After all, I tend to get tired of bands that become too predictable after getting stuck in certain formulas.
Every day I just fall more and more with Einar's voice and athe band sound... What a joy it is to have discovered this band last year, without any doubt one of the best out here and one of my all time favorite as well. Can't believe I missed their live0 by one day in February, had to leave the town...
For what it's worth, dear fanboys and girls, the fans' opinions don't ever affect the direction of the band because music comes from the heart. This is what they've been feeling at the time of writing and that's why they sound like it.
How often i find a song i like and i think to myself "Man I wish this song went for longer".... to be gifted with an extra 2 minutes on the album edit is just spectacular..... not only is it longer, it is the best part of the song.... Currently I'm struggling to not believe in divine intervention.
Einar vocals are just awesome in this songs. This is going to be a dramatic and melancholic album for sure, just amazing. Please, wait for the new record.
The bass line along the whole track is amazing! Simen: WOW! Awesome production compared to Congregation. I'll get used the new direction if it sounds that well crafted!
Oh jeez, this is a pretty weird step for Leprous's sound, but I still love it! Their last two albums were certainly pretty strange albums that required several listens for to grow on you, but when it did, it REALLY grew on you! This seems to have the same affect as those albums, except with a different sound, and I love it! This is what I love about Leprous - how they're constantly changing sounds to make themselves an uneasy listen with anything new that they release!
Sebastian Armas yep, most "prog" fans arent really progressive, they just want the same, I for one like this a lot! Also, love your profile pic, amazing album :D
Fran Lovel Šimić Thanks! Love your profile pic as well! It actually makes me think that this song does have a bit of a Devin Townsend feel to it. Also, when I was looking for the full version of this song, (which someone said is much better than the radio edit, but apparently is only available on ITunes and Apple Music) I came across this: canthisevenbecalledmusic.com/leprous-malina/ This should ease some people's minds if they're uncertain about this new album, which I have to admit, while I do love this track, and From the Flame, I do understand why people are upset at these two tracks, since they feel more commercial than their other stuff
They change styles at every album so I know what to excpect. As usual just for Coal and Bilateal I will hate it for the first 2 months or so than adore it!
I just finished listening to the full version of this song, and it is majestic! You guys really need to listen to it on Apple Music or buy it on iTunes because it's worth it! It nearly brought me to tears!
Anywhere I can listen to it without buying it or apple music? I've been looking for the full version EVERYWHERE cant find it for shit... I will buy the album though. THE ALBUM not an half song. Its like asking for premium to view the end of my song and it pisses me off...
Malina is a deity in Greenland mythology. She is said to represent the sun, along with her brother, Anningan, whom represents the moon, but some tension between them has caused them to grow apart. Now, Anningan is chasing Malina across space in an eternal cycle, which is supposed to be the cause of Night and Day. Leprous's new album is a lighter sound than what we've heard before, and it's titled Malina. Next Leprous album confirmed: Anningan! It will feature some of their darkest material so far! 🎉
I used to listen to this song before taking my driving lessons. I always have a strange feeling listening to it more than one year after, it remembers me how I was anxious before driving for the first times, and how I was happy to finally do it ! Excellent song nonetheless.
Was listening to islandic Agent Fresco when autoplay kicked in. Ooh, new song? Nope - just a wonderful new discovery, and like a mix between agent fresco, asgeir, sonata arctica, karnivool, pain of salvation's panther, mara volta, and coheed and Cambria.
It's not the old Leprous that I fell in love with, but it's still dynamic. I actually really enjoy this direction they have gone in. The music is still very well constructed, though I still long for the darker and heavier music they have done in the past.
Absolutely love this song. Love when musicians try something different. Sometimes for the better or worse. This is great imo. People should not judge the album based on From The Flame, and this song. Be patient, and then when the album comes, then let us speak of our opinions on the album as a whole. Good shit Leprous. Looking foward to the album.
lol at people acting like Leprous used to be this crazy heavy metal band. They've definitely had some songs with heavy parts (and a couple of songs like Waste of Air, Contaminate Me and Bury that are heavy throughout), but those are only exceptions. Most Leprous songs are sing-song-y with catchy hooks. The two singles we've heard are sort of similar in tone with their upbeat verses and emotional choruses. I love these songs, but I do hope the album has more variety.
Beautiful! It's a very different vibe than I'm used to from Leprous (except for the chorus), but I really dig it. I'm still dying to hear the full album.
Leprous, is there a possibility that you will come to Serbia/Belgrade during this tour? ^^ I can't wait to hear you again live! Great song by the way x)
Awesome song guys. It may look from the comments that people aren't digging it, but that's actually just a vocal minority judging from the likes/dislikes. Keep doing you.
It has such a huge influence of Agent Fresco there, amazing. Some people are complaining about this new direction they are taking, but what I like most about leprous is that each record is different in some way, they are unique. Personally I don't want a Coal Part 2, I want to see them evolving. People are saying this is not prog, but prog is not just about odd time signatures, its also about experimentation, evolution. They are doing it right.
Who wants Coal pt 2? Coal is their worst LP in their discography. I think most long time Leprous fans kinda wish we'd get a Bilateral pt 2. But those days are long gone.
Bro... Coal is amazing. So is Bilateral but they're basically two different genres of music. That being said, I wouldn't even mind a Bilateral part 2. I just want to let it be known that Coal is a masterpiece as well.
listen to the rest of the album... this is a song known as a "crowd pleaser" which their fans dont really care about it seems haha. its amazing music and awesome progression, props for being real LEPROUS ^-^
To me this was always the natural thing for them to evolve into: Do more with less. Its perfect. The subtle changes and nouances make this song so exciting and gives it such great highlights, without forced "breakdowns" or guitar solos.
Leprous once again breaking the barriers of music, creating a masterpiece. I can't believe anyone would actually say that leprous has "devolved". ruslan mam indeed. love them

The worst part about radio edits is that it cuts away the most beautiful part of the song
Reborn with shiny dreams
A spark of childish hope
Glory to seek
Headed for the top
With no safety rope
Afraid to turn around
Forcing me to grow
Finishing alive
Only time will tell
Clinging to a shaky line
Insecure about what I will see
Mounting the unstable peak
It's overwhelming me
I am stuck on mountains
Mountains of doubt
I am stuck on mountains
Mountains of apathy
The end is near to what I sought
The goals has turned to dreams I fought
My image changing silently
The way back down is turning steep
How do I stay away from self pity
And back to sleep
Where did I go wrong?
I am stuck on mountains
I am stuck on mountains
Mountains of doubt
I am stuck on mountains
Mountains of apathy
It's so good to hear them doing something without overwhelmingly distorted guitars in the background. Musicians this good deserve a chance to flex.
This radio edit is a great way for me to introduce this type of music to my friends.
I got an ad for Haken's new album before watching this. Best video - ad combo ever.
I'm new to progressive rock, first heard was Agent Fresco and was blown away. But this song sounds like a masterpiece
"From the Flame" and "Stuck" are certainly different from what I used to associate with Leprous. The "prog pop rock" vibe of these songs make them different from the previous Leprous, reminding me of bands like Agent Fresco and Karnivool. Fortunately (for me), I like these bands.

@XceptionReturns Pop can be unique. Kate Bush, Björk and more recently Rina Sawayama all make/made unique and amazing Pop music.
Every day I just fall more and more with Einar's voice and athe band sound... What a joy it is to have discovered this band last year, without any doubt one of the best out here and one of my all time favorite as well. Can't believe I missed their live0 by one day in February, had to leave the town...
There is nothing this band can ever do wrong. Love this!
mayhem name, mastodon pic, commenting on leprous. you seem like an all around guy
OF COURSE YOU AGAIN. XD You guys are very kind but I am not a dude haha.
No, but I wish I was. It's k, everybody knows there are no women on the internets.
have you heard the album edit yet????
I second.
I think this will be the album that would make leprous a world class band
For what it's worth, dear fanboys and girls, the fans' opinions don't ever affect the direction of the band because music comes from the heart. This is what they've been feeling at the time of writing and that's why they sound like it.

Very good. Norway is beautiful today, interesting sond by Leprous and new soundful cover by Minniva. Wait whole album, guys!
Please please please please please come back to Calgary soon!i need to hear the new album live and in person!
The day I saw this live ranks as one of the best days of my entire life. Raphael is an absolute beast on cello.
Einar vocals are just awesome in this songs. This is going to be a dramatic and melancholic album for sure, just amazing. Please, wait for the new record.
The sound reminds me of Karnivool a lot. Looking forward to the album!
Missing the epic end part of the song, the part that hooked me like a fish and made me deeply love this band.
vocals are the best king diamond style... like never before
Just discovered this band and I think this is my favorite song I've listened to 💖
This is the best they have ever sounded, and it makes sense, since their previous album was their best one by far. Maybe Malina will be even better.
the bass on this one is just crazy!
I love the heavy, complex and dark sound of Leprous, but I love this sound and style of them too. I'm more than excited for this album.
The bass line along the whole track is amazing! Simen: WOW! Awesome production compared to Congregation. I'll get used the new direction if it sounds that well crafted!
Alexandre Hudon he's an amazing bass player, loving his performance in the live dvd.
Damn I can't wait to hear this live!
Strip down, straight forward, still Leprous. Love it
Oh jeez, this is a pretty weird step for Leprous's sound, but I still love it! Man that bass groove got me swooning
I used to listen to this song before taking my driving lessons. I always have a strange feeling listening to it more than one year after, it remembers me how I was anxious before driving for the first times, and how I was happy to finally do it ! Excellent song nonetheless.
Still here 5 years after
Was listening to islandic Agent Fresco when autoplay kicked in. Ooh, new song? Nope - just a wonderful new discovery, and like a mix between agent fresco, asgeir, sonata arctica, karnivool, pain of salvation's panther, mara volta, and coheed and Cambria.
oh my! I'm in love!! this band is just sooo deeply resonating with my being
Love that more "rocker" sound, I really appreciate the will of this guys to not be stuck in the style of the previous record.
Piękny utwór.Nic dodać nic ująć
Loving it, I can't wait to hear the full version :D
That's a nice direction they're going. Sounds amazing!
The next album will be excellent again.
Come to Lyon, France ! Please
(concert hall : CCO, Ninkasi, or Transborder)
the production on this is fantastic
Amazing and brilliant as always!!!!! I'm incredibly excited.
Excellent song, looking forward to hearing the full version with the cello on the album :)
Fresh band, new things coming up and that's great.I love leprous
the build up to the first chorus is magical
Glad te see u at barakason Nantes in November, it'll we be great after seeing u at the ferailleur
Reminds me a lot of Agent Fresco! Love it!
It's not the old Leprous that I fell in love with, but it's still dynamic. I actually really enjoy this direction they have gone in. The music is still very well constructed, though I still long for the darker and heavier music they have done in the past.
Can't believe you guys cut off the end! It's the best part!!! So great.
I just watched them live and this is exactly like it, flawless
Absolutely love this song. Love when musicians try something different. Sometimes for the better or worse. This is great imo. People should not judge the album based on From The Flame, and this song. good god that bassline sounds so good!! excellent job!! looking forward to see you live again on november in argentina, can't wait!!!!!
Beautiful! It's a very different vibe than I'm used to from Leprous (except for the chorus), but I really dig it. I'm still dying to hear the full album.
Can't wait for the full version. Loving this a lot, but you can definitely hear that there's parts left out.
Its more popy than djenty yet made fabulously !
Greatest song I've heard in a while.
You guys should probably upload the audio stream of the full song.
DandelionVolta we should ban radio edits for prog songs
The new album is absolutely incredible guys! So much emotion and some of the best songs they have ever made...
By far not as good as the congregation or coal, there's some tracks that just sound boring and uninspired to me (especially mirage).
i really like mirage, downtuned riffage synth ambiance, nhummy
Good lord this is absolutely amazing!
Can't wait the new album, great song! Keep it comin'
Amazing as always
This song is lyrically impressive.
Cant wait for Malina. Its a fresh sound again! Will see you guys live November, hyped! :D
I like this song. Cant wait for their new one to drop.
Essa banda é Perfeita.. os Cara tocam e cantam muito!
I like this song, I think every band has to evolve, grow. Good music :)
Brilliant!!!
Leprous, is there a possibility that you will come to Serbia/Belgrade during this tour? ^^ I can't wait to hear you again live! Great song by the way x)
Can't stop listening for this song... 😎👍
BASSSSSSS!!!
I dig the sound. Not my favorite by them but i like it. Slave and passing are a couple of songs that i love by them.
Perfect 👌
Amazing! 😍
¡Muy buenoooo!!!
After a week of listening, I'm in love with this
Awesome song guys. It may look from the comments that people aren't digging it, but that's actually just a vocal minority judging from the likes/dislikes. Keep doing you.

Samuel Bastos and instead of Coal part 2 we got fucking Agent Fresco part 2
Who wants Coal pt 2? Coal is their worst LP in their discography.
I think most long time Leprous fans kinda wish we'd get a Bilateral pt 2. But those days are long gone.
Well that's just subjective, Congregation on the whole is weaker than Coal to me.
Bro... Coal is amazing. So is Bilateral but they're basically two different genres of music. That being said, I wouldn't even mind a Bilateral part 2. I just want to let it be known that Coal is a masterpiece as well.
Dean Williams
Echo
The Valley
The Cloak
Salt
The only interesting tracks on that album.
This one is better than the first single, though I do hope the rest of the album will be much better
Come to Peru!
Always gotta have the proper ending cued up and ready to go in iTunes when the video ends. haha
new album is proving to be completely different
original and accessible in the same time
great song
GREAT 💕
hermoso
Love it! Such an awesome band. Seems like some of Devin Townsend's upbeat pop sensibilities have had an influence, which is no bad thing!
Sigurður Ólafsson it never is! Hyped for Malina, I sense good stuff coming our way :D
Pretty different from their earlier stuff, I'm really curious how the rest of the album will turn out!
magnífico!
Listen to the full version if you haven't. The radio edit doesn't do it enough justice
listen to the rest of the album... this is a song known as a "crowd pleaser" which their fans dont really care about it seems haha. its amazing music and awesome progression, props for being real LEPROUS ^-^
I hope that someday, you guys, visit us in Mexico City and other places in Latinamerica. Great Song.
Wario Tapia they came last year in october ... was amazing concert!!
Jossy Belcantanti Puff, ni enterado, si lo viste que suertuda.
Great!!!!
1:38 is so cool!
Pura Poesia!! ❤️
They are concentrating on writing great songs, cool. Less tricky 6/4 time sig's.
It's a really good song. Who cares if it's poppy? Nothing wrong with that. Also the last 2 minutes of the full version are beautiful.
In what world this is pop? 😅
To me this was always the natural thing for them to evolve into: Do more with less. Its perfect. The subtle changes and nouances make this song so exciting and gives it such great highlights, without forced "breakdowns" or guitar solos.
I LOVE IT! ♥
quel kif!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Didn't like this song at first. But it's really growing up on me.
I think i saw your comment on a review channel where you said that you liked Mastodons Steambreather
Excelent sound,,
Que som!!
