Most certainly an 1836, they stopped making that design of half dollar in 1839. The numbers are hard to tell though sometimes until you get really close up. Thanks for watching!
For cleaned coins, take 3 pounds of dog shti and mix it with a dozen eggs for 5 minutes. dig a hole that will hold four coins without touching and pour half of the mixture in the hold, put the coins on top, and pour the other half over the coins. then put some dirt on top. Make sure to pee on it every 5 days for a year. They will come out looking nice!
26:46 oh look my coin when Im sleeping! 😇😇🤣 awesome coins, some were sad results, some were...a little better than expected rite? Never know with them, ty for sharing 🥰
I've seen dry ice sprayed under pressure for conservation of classic cars yeilding stunning results. I'd like to see how it works out on coins. Maybe lasers? They use them for artwork. I probably should keep this to myself.
There was a few cents that you got lucky on . Can definitely see spots of crossion on them . Surprised that some of them bust halfs came bck cleaned or tooled . Still good looking coins id be happy to own them .
@@Kittlecoins I have a 1937 nickel but its not a buffalo its a jefferson and I can not find 1937 Jefferson anywhere then I found out it did not come out until 1938 do you thank this coin is worth anything or a new discovery? or do you know who I can text a picture to thank you
Thank you Michael for your very informative video,I really enjoy all your passion for coin collecting,I also have a love/passion of coin collecting sense 1966.
I watched this when you first put it out, Michael, but I had errands to run. You've got some pretty nice, older dated, coins there. I'd be happy to own any one of them, especially that 1955 DDO. I've been looking for that one for quite some time. Anyway, I think you did alright with your coins grades, and I hope you do well when selling them. Thanks for showing them. Have a good one.
10:00 I think that the tool marks on the 1886 coin can be seen on the reverse rim by the word "of" and on the rim directly opposite that...two small lines, one by the "o", one by the"f" and two matching lines on the rim exactly opposite near the bottom leaf.
Top job allways a big big 👍 from brother tyson keep up the hard work as watching u helps my videos get better as your video s thr way u put them togever is amazing top job 👍 👍
I just got back into to coin hunting. I don’t understand why it’s not excepted to clean coins. If they have excessive junk on them. So you can enjoy the artwork and color of the metal.
That 1853 3SC is secondary toning, thats what happens after a coin has been lightly cleaned, then thrown into an album to get toned. This is very easy to spot and they are spot on with the details grade. P.S if this was a waaaay older coin with this toning, it would have Stright graded, because they give those late 1700s to very early 1800s all the leeway in the world🤯😤
They put your coin in a holder with residue. This seems to me to be an offer to resubmit the coin for restoration. And have it straight grade. But you will wait a long time.
I recently got back a 1883 CC Morgan with UNC details-residue. Thoughts on cracking it open to MS70 it and try again? It's a 63-64 if it gets a straight grade.
Some collectors try to build sets of certain grades so they have matching coins. At the very bottom of the grading scale there is competition by collectors who collect the very lowest grades. It seems odd to most collectors of course, but it's actually very hard to get very low grades without the coin have other problems that keep the coin from getting a straight grade. Accordingly, at the very low end of the grading scale, some coins can be worth significantly more in a lower grade, especially the Poor-1 grade. Thanks for watching!
I recently cut up a 1970 US Mint Set and really liked the 1970 s Jefferson Nickle # 84085. Sent it into PCGS as a # 84085 looking for a fair grade. They claim its a Proof 1970 s.... #4202.... Are S mints cut form MInts set considered PR or MS.....?????Very Disappointed with PCGS.... Plus they had my coins for over 18 weeks......
Two years ago I sent some coins to PCGS. One was an 1836 half dollar. I didn’t know there are tow types, reeded and lettered. But PCGS “ replaced” it for a coin that I didn’t even owned. I filled a claim and settled for $250 Now I suspect my coin was with a reeded edge. I never checked the edge because I didn’t know about the two types on the edge. I tend to believe it was the grader who switched my coin.
I anticipate in the very near future that AI will take over grading coins ect.. there is just too much money involved for it not to happen. MS-66 to a 67 or 68 can be huge. And honestly I have seen too many reveals that a graders arbitrary opinion costs thousands. What do you think
May just be a matter of time, but remember that coin grading is NOT an exact science. Sure you look at amount of wear, how many marks/hits... stuff like that could be somewhat easily determined by AI. Probably even teach difference between strike weakness and actual wear with more effort. But a major part of grading very high grade mint state coins is eye appeal. One of the major reasons that those coins don't get the same grades upon regrading. Probably could teach AI eye appeal to some degree, but would just be based on what the programmer believes to be nice or negative eye appeal. Another AI programmed by another might have different results. Probably won't be long before someone gets that ball rolling though!
I am trying to get a coin graded , pcsg shop told me they would charge me 50 to 100 and tell it was not gradable ? The website says $5 a coin and $4 shipping . I can you give me advise please ?
My dad passed and now I want to grade everything. Brothers agree on most of my choices ones to grade 1st. Now just for a ( ruff estimate). How much did all this cost to get graded?
How long did it take for PCGS o grade them, Michael? I submitted 5 coins at Long Beach Show in July and only one is currently being encapsulated, rest are "grading". Insane amount f time these days...
Man the last couple years, I think pcgs is dropping the ball. A couple of those details I've seen identical straight grade. I think they want people to crack and resend. Or just switch to NGC. That's what I'd do. I think they do a better job and I like their slabs.
I see the edge damage on the 13D Buffalo, but its not truly enough to get a details grade imho, but im glad it at least got holdered because the other one got a body bag. This is something that is definitely not fixable, and you should leave it in that holder. Its not worth a regade of course, but its a true bummer to get a coin back thats details that shouldn't be Its clearly on the reverse, but it should have NEVER been brought up. What a joke on the 1913D Buffalo 😂🤦🏼♂️. Dock a grade or two or two, but don't give a details grade on a great looking, original coin🤦🏼♂️💯.

PCGS has some very subjective graders, A lot of your coins did not deserve the gradings they were given. It costs you a lot of money for PGCS submissions and to be honest it appears to be a lottery as far as gradings go. I'm sure if you resubmitted them at a later date a high percentage would come back with different grades. They have you over a barrel. Your gradings are at their decisions with no comebacks at all. This pisses me off big time. It costs a lot of money for the whims of dubious graders
This was an object lesson on how to waste your money on submission fees! Wonder when dealers will go back to selling coins and not plastic with a coin inside and someone else's OPINION that more than half the time is different from the owner! Would have been very helpful if you revealed what that pile of plastic cost you! Until TECHNOLOGY catches up to reality and you can put a coin on a scanner and that computer (which ANYONE can buy, even at some outrageous price) will have EVERY SERIES of U.S. coins and most grades from 2 to 70 (acknowledging that some coins do not have any coins in that upper echelon). Collecting was so much easier and more enjoyable when 2 parties would argue over a grade, but more realisticly argued over price instead, which is also an opinion ultimately reached by the buyer and seller.
I've heard many complaints of customers, more so in recent months. Mostly about the waiting times and lack of customer service. But when I do coins shows, most recently yesterday, most customers still prefer and demand PCGS holders for their coins.
I’m wondering whether or not the coins graded with “residue” would get a grade if put through their “Restoration” and then regraded(?) since they were not given a genuine, cleaned or details grade?
PCGS is one of the main companies for grading coins. Cost depends on what you're sending and the value. It's not cheap and you must join a membership to the company before submitting. Their website explains it all!
Overall man they would look great in my collection! That last one I stopped the video and zoomed in on it, and on the left side of the obverse there are some up n down zig zag type scratches..Still all very nice coins overall 👌 Thank you for your time and helping me understand how they grade. Now I can go thru mine again and get super picky lol I like them anyways!
Hey that coin that Is 1889 , PCGS LABELED AS 1836@10:28 !
Most certainly an 1836, they stopped making that design of half dollar in 1839. The numbers are hard to tell though sometimes until you get really close up. Thanks for watching!
You really know how to roll with the punches and don’t get upset. I can respect that.
For cleaned coins, take 3 pounds of dog shti and mix it with a dozen eggs for 5 minutes. dig a hole that will hold four coins without touching and pour half of the mixture in the hold, put the coins on top, and pour the other half over the coins. then put some dirt on top. Thank you!

Nice PCGS unboxing. Awesome coins 👍😊.
Looks like you did pretty good 👍

8:11 exactly what I would do with that seeded dollar crack it out put it in my typeset. I wonder if you still have it probably probably not😊

Wow the 1871 dime, im so happy for you and i completely agree on the cam
Yeah, I don't get or see the "Residue" grade but you can always clean the coin and get "Cleaned" grade instead, lol.
There was a few cents that you got lucky on . Can definitely see spots of crossion on them . Surprised that some of them bust halfs came bck cleaned or tooled . Still good looking coins id be happy to own them .
Great coins. I hope to start collecting the older stuff like that very soon

Nice group of coins, love the DDO!!
Thanks 👍
Looks like you got lucky from what you're allowing us to see, the 1876 seated half looks cleaned as well in the TVs
Wow... That's a nice set of coins you just showed. Thank you for the video!
Awesome stuff!!!!!!
A higher grade on the 3 leg? You're so lucky and im happy for you on this one

At 1:00 on the back of the head you can see the tooling on 1836 capped bust.. Shame it's a really nice looking coin
Killer coins!!!
The videos are good and candid. PCGS has problems with details.
Nice coins 😁👍!!!

Nice coins. I was really surprised there wasn't more body bags. Pcgos has been really harsh on copper for the last couple years
Beatyful coins
Maybe a dental pick around some of the stars?

The 1933 is beautiful. I have come to believe that pcgs has employed some graders that need retraining or let go. Great show.
They put your coin in a holder with residue. This seems to me to be an offer to resubmit the coin for restoration. And have it straight grade. But you will wait a long time.
Nice review Mike, bummer on some of those earlier bust halves. Seemed a little stiff on those in my opinion.
1873 trade dollar looks cleaned.. it would have been nice for you to let us see it in the video
1836 wait, what? Tooled? Not seeing it. The grader is the tool i think thats a great looking coin! What does tooled even mean?
They typically say "tooled" when there is movement of metal on the surface. Could be pretty light and minor, could be very aggressive and harsh.
That 1915-P matte proof should have came back cleaned in my opinion. It shouldn't have came back "questionable color".
I recently got back a 1883 CC Morgan with UNC details-residue. Thoughts on cracking it open to MS70 it and try again? It's a 63-64 if it gets a straight grade.
1955 penny awesome!
The 1837 half totally looks cleaned.
I know you haven't seen the TVs yet but its obvious
You have to be Q. David Bowers, David Hall or someone of the like to get anything consistent and true out of these market maker/breaker companies.
10:24 “…it almost looks uncirculated.”
I mean….AU details…so ya…lol.
Thought that was funny. Great video thanks for posting.
Why do you want a lower grade sometimes? Thanks.

I’m pretty sure PCGS is using a spectrum analyzer. They can spot things the human eye cannot. Welcome to the new age!

Question are slapped clean coins still valuable . Do people buy them
That 14D Buffalo could easily be fixed on this one, but you won't put it close enough to the camera to be able to see it for sure
The 1930 ms 65RD for sale?
Where is the pcgs drop off place? Thank you
At their offices in Orange County, California. Not open to the public, need to make an appointment and they only take appointments on certain days.
Thank you 😊
To hard to see the tooling on the 1838 half, but right by the 1 in the date could have caused that🤷🏼♂️
I anticipate in the very near future that AI will take over grading coins ect.. there is just too much money involved for it not to happen. MS-66 to a 67 or 68 can be huge. And honestly I have seen too many reveals that a graders arbitrary opinion costs thousands. What do you think

Do they grade hobo nickels? I like them better than MS coins especially if it's good work.

Hmmm, the 1929 i don't understand
Tooling means they think someone used a tool to slightly carve around the details to make the details pop more than they should.
I was wondering maybe a dental pick around some of the stars?
Close-ups of the coins as you rotate them, etc would make for a better video. Camera is too far away.
On the second 1913D theres nothing wrong with thevedge🤦🏼♂️
i would deny that 1871 proof in for conservation
The 1933 they would totally grade it
