What if we use design sprints/design thinking in our discovery, would it make sense??

Definitely :). It is quite important to be pragmatic about our approach (at least if you ask me :)). Play around with what works, and what doesn't work. If Design Sprints add value then keep using them :). If not, play around with other ways to get the desired value.
