Jonathan Larson's story is so sad. He finally gets his show Rent to open on Broadway but dies the day before it opens from an aortic dissection. He was really talented and it would have been so interesting to see where his career could have gone.
it's a double edged sword...we have RENT how it is now because of his passing...who knows how it would've evolved through previews had he been alive, and if it would've been as huge a success but we'll never know that, nor what other shows he may have developed
I cry so many times when I watch this. The scene in the diner, Sunday Brunch always gets me - so many cameos with incredible talent. "is this real life?" also makes me bawl. lol
I have never seen the whole movie, or any of Rent, only some of the songs, and now this. This is a story that has replayed over and over with artists, they never see their art succeed in their lifetime.
Its a little sad you had already heard the music from this before watching, but I get most people recommend songs from stuff before recommending the whole movie. Also that whole diner scene was like 99% broadway stars
Lots of people on UA-cam puts uncut videos version of their own videos but with that kind of montage it really doesn't appeal, it's just cutting the movie with no consistency or emphasis on the important parts it just cuts in the middle of a scene or even a song ! with no reason. Of course you can't put the whole film in the video but your editing is supposed to show the major parts and skip unnecessary scenes

'No ideas, just questions.' And then the final song is all questions.
Genuinely the best musical to a movie adaptation of all time.

Never fails to make me cry. Whew
30/90 is still my favorite song from the film, close to it is the “Until I Get It Right” song towards the end.
All those people in the song Sunday are broadway superstars
Yes love it
