Some awesome footage mate! Seems like anything with the tail similar to a Pink Thing gets some interest

Thanks mate. Yer not something I thought would be my go-to fly for Barra but been very successful for me. Caught plenty other species as well. Just something about that pattern. What’s your go-to mate?

@@sportfishingjunkie normally a spin fisherman and only recently just getting back into the fly again but I've been smoked by a few solid Barra (I'm guessing mid to high 70's) on some clousers when they're chasing up baitfish

Cool… fly plays 2nd fiddle to my soft plastics but nothing wrong with a bit of variety. A couple wise heads that make up my fly fishing brains trust both love using a Clouser. Such a simple but effective fly. I do use them from time to time… when I’m not fixated on that topwater take 👍😎

What's the first setup you're using? Looks like a Maxcatch Avid Pro reel. I'm looking at getting the Saltpro 9wt with Sparta reel to muck around in the salt.

Good catch mate… yep it’s a Maxcatch Avid Pro 8-9wt size. I started with the TFO NXT III but the anodising isn’t holding up. Ordered the Avid Pro a year ago and definitely recommend it… it’s been really solid. Don’t have a Saltpro but did buy a Maxcatch Predator 8wt rod. I give it heaps of stick pulling fish from heavy cover and it’s been fantastic. Only thing I’d say is it’s more of a 9wt… I started with 8wt line then beefed it up to 9wt and improved out of sight. Looked at the Saltpro and looks good… but would probably go the predator again with an Avid Pro. Catch Ya 🎣🪰

Wonder if you can also catch barras on a tenkara rod.

In some of the scenarios I fish I reckon Barra on tenkara is definitely plausible mate 👍🎣
