Remember that Gojo said he would take responsibility for Yuji and that if things went south: ''they (the higher-ups) could kill him''. Well, things definitely went south didn't they? Also, since they think the brain dude is actually just Geto, they must also think that Gojo has been protecting him this whole time since he was supposed to have killed him after his fight with Yuta. So blaming Gojo makes sense. Blaming the principal though? Not so much but I'm assuming they have a reason for it that will be explained next season.

They are blaming Gojo because they can't control him not because of his culpability with Yuji. They know it isn't Geto, they were likely told by Mai, Kusakabe, etc. who knew it wasn't him.

What just happened is far beyond the pale hence Gojo must be held accountable given he was the lone voice of dissent in sparing Yuji and then took custody of Sukuna's vessel. Even if none of the Geto-related charges could be proven, Gojo would still be on the hook for Sukuna murdering tens of thousands of civilians. Gojo's failures fueled by arrogance ultimately resulted in hell on earth being unleashed. I'd say it's a deserved sentence.

If they believe Yuji can't control Sukuna, then it makes sense to not allow Gojo to come back, because he would then protect Yuji if he is freed. Sukuna/Yuji must die at all costs.

As far as I understood it, the Brain-dude has been making contracts with sorcerers and curses for over a thousand years. He also was trying to create humans who could bond with curses or be half-cursed or be vessels for curses (people like Junpei, like Yuuji, and the wombs like Choso). Why? Who knows? It seems like maybe he wants sorcerers to become crazy strong through this bonding. Anyway, he chose about a thousand non-sorcerers and put a mark on them - the mark would be triggered by Mahito's power and turns all those marked into either vessels or sorcerers. And then he turned loose a million curses in Shibuya, some of which will find those marked people and bond with them but also be in control of them, just like Sukuna plans to take full control of Yuuji's body. So...Tsumiki could become the possessed vessel of some evil curse and will Fushiguro be able to save her or have to kill her? That group of people in the office building I think are a sort of committee that coordinates between jujutsu society and the gov't, keeping the secret and making sure the sorcerers have the means and ability to deal with curses when they pop up. The Jujutsu Higher-ups who run everything are taking full advantage of Gojo being sealed to lock down their power over the rest of the sorcerers. Anyone who was opposed to them will be tied to Geto/Gojo and eliminated, like Yaga. I think Yuki and Yuta and some others probably were expecting something like this to happen - that's why they stayed out of it, so they can't be accused of being part of Gojo's "gang" of psycho rebels. They will be the ones trying to fix everything and get Gojo back while pretending to be working for the Higher-ups. Meanwhile, this expanding circle of darkness is going to fuel normal people fears and they'll release even more cursed energy in Japan, making sorcerers even more necessary but also stronger.

I just re watched Gojo talking to principal Gakuganji in S1 and he even says to him your old ways won't work much longer and he's crazy if he doesn't think others will fight back. So, that lends even more to what you were talking about! And I can definitely see your last part about Yuki being true but not Yuta, we last saw him and he was doing something for Gojo so I don't think he would just stay out of it, unless that's precisely what Gojo wanted him to do? Like you said maybe they will play both sides, at least I hope because if they make us root for Yuji or Yuta, I'm team Yuj, been with him to long!! - John
Sukuna isn't a curse, and the cursed objects of past sorcerers like Sukuna were already fed to people by fake Geto from my understanding. He juat needed to break the seal on those cursed objects. Those contracted curses are just the 10 million that he unleashed. The reason his contracts with the curses were annuled was probably because he has Cursed Spirit Manipulation now, which gives him control over curses.
This is no spoiler: Regarding what y’all said about what happens to Sukuna if Yuji dies. If Yuji were to die, Sukuna could just reincarnate into any of his other 5 fingers, however Sukuna would lose his 15 that is in Yuji. So no Sukuna does not care if Yuji dies, but it will definitely inconvenience him. Also if that were to happen, more than likely Sukuna has a contingency plan for it.
You guys are one of the few I’ve seen that haven’t put spoilers in the thumbnail. Plus one of the best genuine reactions to this show I’ve been following you guys through season 2. Appreciate your hard work and thoughtfulness!

Other than some people involved in the shibuya incident, nobody else knows what or who is inside Geto's body. We have to remember that other than Gojo, everyone else found out last episode that what was using Geto's body was something else. 3. Since Geto didn't die and Gojo was assigned to kill him last year, but now he's back and caused this whole massacre, the jujutsu council believes that Gojo didn't kill his best friend and were working together to make the Shibuya incident happen. They are also using this explanation as an excuse to get Gojo out of the way since they couldn't do much with him threatening them, and so now that Gojo's out of the way it's free real estate for them and can do whatever they want, hence making it illegal to free Gojo and renewing Yuji's death sentence. The principal is getting killed based on the fact that these "mastermind killers" (Gojo, Geto and Yuji) were his students at some point and might have had a hand in this whole thing which is another excuse for something he did that will be revealed next season. 4. Yuki knew of Mahito because he was considered a big threat by most sorcerers, just like Jogo and Hanami. 5. Makes sense that Yuta would want to kill Yuji after what happened. It's true that it wasn't him who destroyed the city and killed thousands of people, but it's he who has control over Sukuna and Yuta also doesn't really know, like the rest, what impact Geto really had in the whole thing. Like yeah, he did seal Gojo but the massacre was done by Sukuna who Yuji possess and at this point in time, he's considered more of a problem that Geto, but we'll get onto that next season as well. 6. Also Geto marked two Types of non sorcerers, not two non sorcerers which means he could've transfigured thousands of people. 7. Since Yuta is Yuji's assigned executioner, it's his job to hunt him down and kill him, which might take some time with all the cursed let loose. 8. I get what you're saying about why other sorcerers aren't out there cleaning and stuff but there aren't many left, and the curses Geto released are a lot and at different power levels and it could take a lot of time to just exorcize one; if they're unliky they might draw out other curses they can't handle and die. So unless you're special grade you'll have a pretty hard time doing much of anything. 9. Inumaki's hand got cut cause he got his arm caught in sukuna's blast. He's lucky that's all he lost tbh.
Definitely helps, thank you!! The only thing I still push back on is the Sukuna and Geto stuff, in regards to Yuta. YES Sukuna caused tremendous damage, but fake Geto put all of this into motion. Him and his crew were the ones who drew Sukuna out in the first place lol so he doesn't even come out there if not for them. I think Kusakabe should've reported to the higher-ups about fake Geto. The rest is politics (excluding Yuji - it's the only reasonable sentence). Gojo being sealed is a good opportunity for the higher-ups to get rid of the political opposition - Gojo and Yaga, who is more likely on Gojo's side than theirs.

I definitely recommend a rewatch from: 1st 1/2 of S2 - Hidden Inventory Arc > Movie 0 > S1 > 2nd 1/2 of S2 - Shibuya Arc You’ll pick up on new details and enjoy the story more with the new knowledge you have. Plus the flow from binging is enjoyable asf imo
Sukuna hurt Inumaki, bad, most likely in his big ass dominan expansion and he got caught up in it. Yuta and Inumaki are best bros. Yuta is pissed man. He wants to kill Yuji because of it and it looks like he doesn’t care that that really wasn’t Yuji. That’s my read on it anyway.
It's a shame that JJK has temporarily come to an end. It was nice seeing your reactions to some of the wild things going on in this show. Wish it could go on longer. But I like you guys. I'll stick around and subscribe. Now then, onto the analysis You thought that just because Mahito was gone that he'd stop causing problems for the story? Oh no. It's fitting. He was made from humanity and now his technique was used to create a situation that may very well change the world. Inumaki was shown to be standing near the area by Sukuna. One of the people(before they got hit with his Domain) mentioned that the "guy with the microphone" saved them. So he lost his arm in the process. Gojo is sealed and because of that combined with what just occurred in Shibuya, the Higher Ups want Yuji gone immediately. Because Gojo was the one to finish Geto off, but now Geto is somehow back, they suspect that Geto and Gojo were working together to plot the entire Shibuya Incident. And Gojo is too strong to be controlled by the Higher Ups anyway. So he is to remain sealed. The Principal is thought to be in on it so they're asking for his execution as well. And now, my boy Yuta. We saw back in the movie that Yuta didn't know if fighting Geto was right or wrong. But because Geto hurt his friends, he wanted to kill him. Even if Geto was right, Yuta's personal feelings didn't neccesarily align with what would be seen as just. He just knew that his friends were harmed and he wanted to do anything to get rid of the thing that harmed them. Yuji, or Sukuna, cut off one of his friend's arms. So the solution is simple. Yuta will kill Itadori himself. The last of the 4 special grade sorcerers has returned. As Yuji's executioner.

As a manga reader, I already know what will happen next, but I still can't wait to see the fight scenes in season 3 because often the animators are able to depict the scenes much better than I could have imagined.
I was on ur acc at first because of Sherlock, and here I am with JJK from s1 and then also CSM and Mob Psycho. It's really fun honestly cause y'all have this chill(?) vibe so it feels just like a hangout (but also seeing your reaction whenever an episode end, is entertaining). Here's something I will say abt the 5 announcements (no spoilers, so I will try and not include confirmations from the manga). Yes the higher ups hate Gojo and probably does it out of spite but I think their mindset on doing that was more like : "Geto is alive, but Gojo killed him. This must mean Gojo had kept him alive despite reporting back his death so he must be Geto's accomplice. Geto did all this = Gojo is helping him in that case." Yaga is always on Gojo's side, and usually supports his decision so they probably take it as him being an accomplice too, even if indirectly. The last 2 is self-explanatory I guess. The higher ups most likely don't have confirmation/proof that Geto is not Geto. Words probably don't matter and Mechamaru is dead so evidence that HE has, no longer exist. The higher ups likely use that as basis. As for the whole brain-geto said about reawakening sorcerers, it was 2 types of sorcerers (someone in the comment have explained it but idk how deeply). One type is vessels and the other type are 'made' sorcerers like junpei. He didn't really specify a number but only how there's two types. Him making these people kill each other is what will help fake Geto in what he lacks in fulfilling his plan. Won't elaborate too much on that for spoiler reasons but I can say they're relevant to each other. In regards the authorities and higher ups: the ones behind the screens in that room with Yuuta, they are basically the higher ups of Jujutsu as a whole. The ones in that board meeting room are sort of people who (might be inaccurate tho bcs even in the manga I think we don't get a lot of clarification at least one I remember) in the government or just Japanese authority who has ties to Jujutsu society. I think it's just stuff that keeps Jujutsu sorcerers as a legal thing, and Jujutsu being a secret is likely related to an agreement with them too. Not much a spoiler since it was announced on twitter (feel free to not read if u dont wanna) but they already announced next arc called Culling Games, but timing wise it probably will be 2025-2026 by pure estimate (usually it takes 2 yrs to finish a 24 ep and i hope other MAPPA projects are handled by a different team so they wont be rushed like S2). The title itself speaks for next season's plot :)
The higher ups in jujutsu society are corrupt and despised Gojo along with those who held views that ran contrary to theirs. The principal has been known to be at odds with the higher ups too, for example, the whole thing with Tengen. So it makes sense that when things went south in Shibuya, they would use this opportunity to get rid of opposition and consolidate power without any risk of Gojo interfering. After all Gojo even said they could pin the blame on him if things went south.
Explanation of the Rika situation without spoilers: What happened at the beginning and the end of JJK:0? Basicly when Rika died Yuta cursed her soul (unintentionally) out of grief and panic. We know cursed spirits are born when negative emotions are amassed. Since it was multiple people seeing the crash the large amount of negative emotions gave birth to a very strong cursed spirit that was possesed by Rikas Soul. When he beat Geto he released Rikas soul upon realizing it was his "fault" but the shell, which still is a special grade vengeful spirit, is still bound to him because Rika Soul bequeathed the last vestiges of her will to the cursed spirit, symbolizing a manifestation of her love that she left behind to protect Yuta. Geto marked two 'kinds' of people, not just two people. Yuta didn't cut of the speech guy's arm, Sukuna did that when he unleased hovac. Given what we know about Yuta, and his relationship with the second years, of coz he wouldn't turn into a total antagonist. Those are the japanese government who wanna release the truth about curse they always knew they existed.
They really gonna pit the two MCs against each other.. Maaan. Also Yuta and Inumaki were best friends in Zero movie. So it makes sense why he wants to kill Itadori.

@JerzeyBoyz The most we saw of Inumaki was him being near the blast radius of Sukuna's domain expansion. You can sort of infer that he was near because the two girls in the angel costumes mentioned inumaki protecting them and they got diced.
in such stories it is always fun to speculate and thats what they clearly aimed for here . as usually these manga come out on a weekly or bi weekly basis so thinking what comes next is part of selling it . thinking about what intentions of which characters are how the story is progressing and so on . things you missed over the story are for example how jujutsu culture has its fingers in every pocket and they are pretty much reigning over japan if just unofficially . i also wouldnt say yuta had an evil smile . he looked determined and upset . but like you guys said what he displays and what his true intentions are could be different . but the speculation is part of the fun .
Yuji had 4 fingers before season 2 so he got fed 11. 1 by the girls and them saying they had one for sukuna if he listens and the other 10 by jogo. Yuji has the first finger he ate the second one he got by gojo, the third one sukuna ate himself before fighting megumin when yuji had trouble getting his body back after switching. And the last one of season 1 the fourth one was the finger they recieved after yuji and nobara killed choso's brothers and megumin beat the finger bearer cursed womb that had absorbed the finger
16:30 Yea Sukuna is finished if Yuji dies with all 20 fingers inside of him inside (pause) They wanted to kill Yuji from the jump even tho that would mean losing a valuable asset that can eat the rest of the fingers to get rid of. Sukuna didn't mind getting got during the Choso fight cuz the amount of fingies was like... 4 or 5? But yea after Jogo if Yuji dies this man Sukuna is left with only 5 fingers worth of himself, so executing Yuji would be the smart play rn on the higher ups part.

I'm so sad for it to be over, it feels so soon lol but I'm glad the animators can rest now. There was so much info dumping in this episode I'll probably have to watch it a couple times to grasp all of it. I'm glad to see Yuta back but he came back to such a shit show I don't blame him for being pissed. Poor Inumaki. I was worried about what happened to him. Those girls that were caught up in Sukuna's domain expansion mentioned 'the guy with the megaphone' or something like that, so I figured he was in the area still. I was worried he'd end up being part of the group of people that just got annihilated in the domain. I'm glad he's still alive at least. I'd love to know what happened to Maki though like they just kind of left us to wonder about that. Loved the reactions. Excited to see what you guys pick next!
I couldn't wait. I like this show and these characters too much to wait for season 3 to be animated, and I've encountered enough spoilers around the internet being a casual fan... I started reading the manga as soon as this episode was over.
As a Manga reader I have to say that I like the anime a lot more. The fights are difficult to understand in the manga and a lot of confusing things are happening. I am way more invested in the anime than I ever was with the manga. So if you can wait I recommend to wait.
As far as Yuji being the vessel, it's believed that if Yuji dies, the curse dies with him. Basically, Yuji's execution is postponed until he consumes all of the fingers, and then he's supposed to die after that.
Speaking of teasers- in the intro @ 2:31 they snuck Yuta in there this ep everyone excited about him, but i've never been attached to him. s3 should be interesting will miss your jjk reactions and discussions! hope to find some new anime through you guys (need something new to watch)

I feel like their reasoning is valid since we reallllyyyy have to stop Sukuna or at least weaken him cause he will always be an "impending doom" to the society. I understand that. Since Geto didn't die and Gojo was assigned to kill him last year, but now he's back and caused this whole massacre, the jujutsu council believes that Gojo didn't kill his best friend and were working together to make the Shibuya incident happen. They are also using this explanation as an excuse to get Gojo out of the way since they couldn't do much with him threatening them, and so now that Gojo's out of the way it's free real estate for them and can do whatever they want, hence making it illegal to free Gojo and renewing Yuji's death sentence. The principal is getting killed based on the fact that these "mastermind killers" (Gojo, Geto and Yuji) were his students at some point and might have had a hand in this whole thing which is another excuse for something he did that will be revealed next season.
4. Yuki knew of Mahito because he was considered a big threat by most sorcerers, just like Jogo and Hanami.
5. Makes sense that Yuta would want to kill Yuji after what happened. It's true that it wasn't him who destroyed the city and killed thousands of people, but it's he who has control over Sukuna and Yuta also doesn't really know, like the rest, what impact Geto really had in the whole thing. Like yeah, he did seal Gojo but the massacre was done by Sukuna who Yuji possess and at this point in time, he's considered more of a problem that Geto, but we'll get onto that next season as well.
6. Also Geto marked two Types of non sorcerers, not two non sorcerers which means he could've transfigured thousands of people.
7. Since Yuta is Yuji's assigned executioner, it's his job to hunt him down and kill him, which might take some time with all the cursed let loose.
8. I get what you're saying about why other sorcerers aren't out there cleaning and stuff but there aren't many left, and the curses Geto released are a lot and at different power levels and it could take a lot of time to just exorcize one; if they're unliky they might draw out other curses they can't handle and die. So unless you're special grade you'll have a pretty hard time doing much of anything.
9. Inumaki's hand got cut cause he got his arm caught in sukuna's blast. He's lucky that's all he lost tbh.

Him and his crew were the ones who drew Sukuna out in the first place lol so he doesn't even come out there if not for them. I think Kusakabe should've reported to the higher-ups about fake Geto. The rest is politics (excluding Yuji - it's the only reasonable sentence). Gojo being sealed is a good opportunity for the higher-ups to get rid of the political opposition - Gojo and Yaga, who is more likely on Gojo's side than theirs.
Its not a copy, its the same spirit just not with a human soul attached.

You thought that just because Mahito was gone that he'd stop causing problems for the story? Oh no. It's fitting. He was made from humanity and now his technique was used to create a situation that may very well change the world.
Inumaki was shown to be standing near the area by Sukuna. One of the people(before they got hit with his Domain) mentioned that the "guy with the microphone" saved them. So he lost his arm in the process. Gojo is sealed and because of that combined with what just occurred in Shibuya, the Higher Ups want Yuji gone immediately. Because Gojo was the one to finish Geto off, but now Geto is somehow back, they suspect that Geto and Gojo were working together to plot the entire Shibuya Incident. And Gojo is too strong to be controlled by the Higher Ups anyway. So he is to remain sealed. The Principal is thought to be in on it so they're asking for his execution as well.
And now, my boy Yuta. We saw back in the movie that Yuta didn't know if fighting Geto was right or wrong. But because Geto hurt his friends, he wanted to kill him. Even if Geto was right, Yuta's personal feelings didn't neccesarily align with what would be seen as just. He just knew that his friends were harmed and he wanted to do anything to get rid of the thing that harmed them. Yuji, or Sukuna, cut off one of his friend's arms. So the solution is simple. Yuta will kill Itadori himself. The last of the 4 special grade sorcerers has returned. As Yuji's executioner.

As a manga reader, I already know what will happen next, but I still can't wait to see the fight scenes in season 3 because often the animators are able to depict the scenes much better than I could have imagined.
I was on ur acc at first because of Sherlock, and here I am with JJK from s1 and then also CSM and Mob Psycho. It's really fun honestly cause y'all have this chill(?) vibe so it feels just like a hangout (but also seeing your reaction whenever an episode end, is entertaining).
Here's something I will say abt the 5 announcements (no spoilers, so I will try and not include confirmations from the manga). Yes the higher ups hate Gojo and probably does it out of spite but I think their mindset on doing that was more like : "Geto is alive, but Gojo killed him. This must mean Gojo had kept him alive despite reporting back his death so he must be Geto's accomplice. Geto did all this = Gojo is helping him in that case." Yaga is always on Gojo's side, and usually supports his decision so they probably take it as him being an accomplice too, even if indirectly. The last 2 is self-explanatory I guess. The higher ups most likely don't have confirmation/proof that Geto is not Geto. Words probably don't matter and Mechamaru is dead so evidence that HE has, no longer exist. The higher ups likely use that as basis.
As for the whole brain-geto said about reawakening sorcerers, it was 2 types of sorcerers (someone in the comment have explained it but idk how deeply). One type is vessels and the other type are 'made' sorcerers like junpei. He didn't really specify a number but only how there's two types. Him making these people kill each other is what will help fake Geto in what he lacks in fulfilling his plan. Won't elaborate too much on that for spoiler reasons but I can say they're relevant to each other.
In regards the authorities and higher ups: the ones behind the screens in that room with Yuuta, they are basically the higher ups of Jujutsu as a whole. The ones in that board meeting room are sort of people who (might be inaccurate tho bcs even in the manga I think we don't get a lot of clarification at least one I remember) in the government or just Japanese authority who has ties to Jujutsu society. I think it's just stuff that keeps Jujutsu sorcerers as a legal thing, and Jujutsu being a secret is likely related to an agreement with them too.
Not much a spoiler since it was announced on twitter (feel free to not read if u dont wanna) but they already announced next arc called Culling Games, but timing wise it probably will be 2025-2026 by pure estimate (usually it takes 2 yrs to finish a 24 ep and i hope other MAPPA projects are handled by a different team so they wont be rushed like S2). The title itself speaks for next season's plot :)
The higher ups in jujutsu society are corrupt and despised Gojo along with those who held views that ran contrary to theirs. The principal has been known to be at odds with the higher ups too, for example, the whole thing with Tengen. So it makes sense that when things went south in Shibuya, they would use this opportunity to get rid of opposition and consolidate power without any risk of Gojo interfering. After all Gojo even said they could pin the blame on him if things went south.
Explanation of the Rika situation without spoilers: What happened at the beginning and the end of JJK:0? Basicly when Rika died Yuta cursed her soul (unintentionally) out of grief and panic. We know cursed spirits are born when negative emotions are amassed. Since it was multiple people seeing the crash the large amount of negative emotions gave birth to a very strong cursed spirit that was possesed by Rikas Soul. When he beat Geto he released Rikas soul upon realizing it was his "fault" but the shell, which still is a special grade vengeful spirit, is still bound to him because Rika Soul bequeathed the last vestiges of her will to the cursed spirit, symbolizing a manifestation of her love that she left behind to protect Yuta.

Geto marked two 'kinds' of people, not just two people. Yuta didn't cut of the speech guy's arm, Sukuna did that when he unleased hovac. Given what we know about Yuta, and his relationship with the second years, of coz he wouldn't turn into a total antagonist. Those are the japanese government who wanna release the truth about curse they always knew they existed.

@JerzeyBoyz The most we saw of Inumaki was him being near the blast radius of Sukuna's domain expansion. You can sort of infer that he was near because the two girls in the angel costumes mentioned inumaki protecting them and they got diced.

in such stories it is always fun to speculate and thats what they clearly aimed for here . as usually these manga come out on a weekly or bi weekly basis so thinking what comes next is part of selling it . thinking about what intentions of which characters are how the story is progressing and so on . things you missed over the story are for example how jujutsu culture has its fingers in every pocket and they are pretty much reigning over japan if just unofficially . i also wouldnt say yuta had an evil smile . he looked determined and upset . but like you guys said what he displays and what his true intentions are could be different . but the speculation is part of the fun .
Its a great way to end the season. And a taste of what to come.

Yuji had 4 fingers before season 2 so he got fed 11. 1 by the girls and them saying they had one for sukuna if he listens and the other 10 by jogo. Yuji has the first finger he ate the second one he got by gojo, the third one sukuna ate himself before fighting megumin when yuji had trouble getting his body back after switching. And the last one of season 1 the fourth one was the finger they recieved after yuji and nobara killed choso's brothers and megumin beat the finger bearer cursed womb that had absorbed the finger
I really don’t know if Yuta is planning anything or not. It really just feels like Sukuna hurt Inumaki, and now Yuta wants Sukuna dead.

They wanted to kill Yuji from the jump even tho that would mean losing a valuable asset that can eat the rest of the fingers to get rid of. Sukuna didn't mind getting got during the Choso fight cuz the amount of fingies was like... 4 or 5? But yea after Jogo if Yuji dies this man Sukuna is left with only 5 fingers worth of himself, so executing Yuji would be the smart play rn on the higher ups part.

There was so much info dumping in this episode I'll probably have to watch it a couple times to grasp all of it. I'm glad to see Yuta back but he came back to such a shit show I don't blame him for being pissed. Poor Inumaki. I was worried about what happened to him. Those girls that were caught up in Sukuna's domain expansion mentioned 'the guy with the megaphone' or something like that, so I figured he was in the area still. I was worried he'd end up being part of the group of people that just got annihilated in the domain. I'm glad he's still alive at least. I'd love to know what happened to Maki though like they just kind of left us to wonder about that. Loved the reactions. Excited to see what you guys pick next!
I couldn't wait. I like this show and these characters too much to wait for season 3 to be animated, and I've encountered enough spoilers around the internet being a casual fan... I started reading the manga as soon as this episode was over.
As a Manga reader I have to say that I like the anime a lot more. The fights are difficult to understand in the manga and a lot of confusing things are happening. I am way more invested in the anime than I ever was with the manga. So if you can wait I recommend to wait.

As far as Yuji being the vessel, it's believed that if Yuji dies, the curse dies with him. Basically, Yuji's execution is postponed until he consumes all of the fingers, and then he's supposed to die after that.
