Imagine - We’re all sitting in a circle, talking about our first “hit” and when we walk by the Walmart card aisle , we have to call our sponsor .
My names Dan and I’m a Will Grier collector
Raw cards in a penny sleeve & A top loader is the new psa 10
This totally makes sense. I told someone that I felt like PSA was using game stop for something bigger. When I went to gamestop, they was only offering me $1 for Kobe’s & MJ’s but when it was a low pop card I had which wouldn’t have any comps or very few they said they wasn’t interested. I think it was the manager, he said that is word for word from PSA. When I heard him say that’s directly from PSA, I knew there was something bigger involved. I figured PSA was buying certain cards for high end customers initially but if you think about it, in a way that’s what this is.
That’s actually a really good shout
People really need to pull their heads in. These repacks and shenanigans are getting out of control. We definitely do not want government regulation because then its just down hill so fast
Always someone who f*cks up the fun for everyone else.
Dan i totally agree. I have a very addictive personality. If i had something like that in my town with baseball cards in it i would be in trouble.
Another great video thank you for what you do
What town do you live in ?
Thanks mate
The industry at this point needs to be regulated, forget tax revenue but solely for consumer protection.
Graders, Breakers, Repacks, hell even the monopolistic practices of card companies with licences.
There's no self regulatory framework which would work, and at this point someone needs to control these scammers.
The hobby used to police itself in regards to scammers. They were shunned and more or less blacklisted. Now in the post covid hobby, the new people getting into it are looking at the scammers and grifters as their examples. It's nothing but a giant money grab for the majority of these people and many have no qualms scamming people too. Regulation has to come if were no longer willing to police ourselves.
@@johnwayne9828 I agree,
My issue is that the industry has grown to a point, which has made it impossible to self police. It used to smaller and more niche but we can't say this anymore.
Agree, I think a domino will be Fanatics and their IPO. Will have a lot more scrutiny
That machine was an absolute joke! PSA should be outraged it was made to look like a PSA machine, not a repack machine. While I expect zero regulation, machines like this will definitely effect psa’s credibility when buyers have negative experiences! You know that charizard isn’t in there! This is rigged gambling. Slot machines actually pay out! These machines will be dumping grounds for worthless slabbed cards
I’d be shocked if PSA failed to sign off on this
@@DanTheCardMan2I think they did - bad decision. Psa is doing well, why lend your name to such a horrendous product?
There is a guarantee its in the machine and yes it would be absolutely illegal for them to say there is a chance that isnt.
Not gambling. Im payong 50 bucks forba random PSA graded card. I spend 15-25 a card on my own dime. So 50 for a 10? Sure why not, i want one. Makes for a fun way to add to the collection. Plus not to mention. The machine is located in Las Vegas, the land of buying everything. So for this to show up now. The real question is why havent these re-pack companies done this sooner? Product to the people
It's funny when rich and powerful people tell you exactly what they're gonna do and lay out a plan and people just laugh and say it will never happen.
😅
No matter what , I personally think $50 for a GRADED repack is A LOT better than some of the repacks I've seen. Yes It might not be PSA approved , but seems very professsional.
I mean it's actually kind of cool kind of a slab slot 😂
With respect to the tax issue with this machine, is this machine considered a gambling device or is it selling merchandise? If it's a gambling machine, the revenues would be subject to regulations and taxes promulgated by the Nevada Gaming Commission. If its selling merchandise, the sales generated by this machine would be subject to Nevada State sales tax. What are the odds that the owner of this machine is remitting tax under either of these two requirements?
It’s an interesting one and this is the kind of questions I am referring to. Lots of unwanted eyes
Dear lord... Whats next "Name That Slab", "Hollywood Slabs", "Supermarket Slab", "Slab or No Slab Deal", "Cash Slab", "Slabpardy", "Slab Sharks", "Lets Make A Slab Deal " , "Is The Slab Price Right", "Wheel Of Slabs", or my personal favorite "Who Wants To Be A Slabionaire"

hobby needs regulation period if they put machines out like this cuz most states have rules about goods purchased thru such a machine(gambling regulations) and misrepresenting a company brand(customer expectations) btw dan look at Boeing and how well they did with lax regulation literally planes coming apart as they fly
I don’t think the sports card hobby will have those issues. You’re talking about a company that has accusations bordering on insanity
@@DanTheCardMan2 just making the case about how regs work/dont work dan there has to be a middle ground
The most cring part of The Hobby is referring to it as "The Hobby"
🤷♂️
You referred to "the hobby" as "the hobby" in your comment.....that's cringe.
You’re so right when you said self-regulation would be far preferable than government regulation to these companies. Government regulation would hurt everyone collectors, traders, dealers. I hope more prominent people push fanatics and whatnot in the right direction before it’s too late.
lmfao @ self regulation look how well boeing is doing hobby needs regulation period if they put machines out like this cuz most states have rules about goods purchased thru such a machine(gambling regulations) and misrepresenting a company brand(customer expectations)
@@vendora1 Boeing owns the government through campaign contributions, fanatics does not.
@@vendora1regulation won't solve anything. Drugs is regulated, how's that going? Homelessness is regulated, how's that going? When the government gets involved, nothing good happens.
@@bennybreaks702 Your comparing drugs and homelessness regulation, 2 WORLDWIDE issues, to sportscards regulation
A few tweaks to monitoring and TCs on these breaking platforms will go a long way to fixing the problem
"Slab slots" patent and copyright pending 😂
I saw a Mary gamble and cblez gambling video that were edited the same way. Makes me think justin gamble was doing it for them. Now if justin and cblez got together they might be behind that machine. Justin and cblez both live in vegas
Does anyone think that it’s ironic that Mary Gamble is influencing gambling in the hobby ?

@@IKnowAGuy10 I do.
why would they regulate a machine when they cant regulate themselves
lol good point
What is a re pack? Sorry for the stupid question 🤣
Basically a mystery pack where people Get a stack of high and low value cards and then sell them for a high price for the chance to get an expensive card
@@DanTheCardMan2 cheers thank you
Regulation in a free market….surely not…don’t call me shirley
😅
It's also no different than the old fashioned vending machine. Also no different than buying a pack of cards out of a wax box at your LCS. Not sure how anyone thinks "mystery" box/packs are any different than how the hobby has always been. It's just another company selling a packaged product. And the crazy part is that the odds of the worst mystery product is still better than Topps or Panini's stiff. There's nothing to regulate, people just don't understand how this works.
It’s very different given how the products are being pushed. Online breaking is 100% gambling and is very different to going to a physical store to buy goods. Go look at my other responses on Twitter to the Patrick Ryan thread I showed in the video.
@@DanTheCardMan2 I didn't mention breaks, so not sure why you did. But I doubt that all breaks are gambling. If you and I split a case of cards in a break and I take AFC teams and you take NFC teams, are we gambling? And if so explain how, and also how doing so would be illegal. And if it's illegal, which jurisdiction does the crime take place in and who exactly would be the plaintiff? And who would be the defendant, the card dealer or those buying the teams? Also, is gambling amongst your friends illegal to begin with? See why this can't be regulated?
But to the point: A PSA vending machine is no different than a pack of cards sold from a wax box. Each are just as random as the other.
I only mentioned it cause I did in the video, maybe I misunderstood what you said. I replied not long after waking up.
You won't see government regulation yet, people on avg could absolutely care less about cards and the average persons mindset is if you want to waste money on cardboard best of luck to you. Fanatics going public might be a stronger case, but unlikely until then in my opinion.
Very fair, I just more meant this is a moment we might look back on that kick started the dominoes. Fanatics going public will be a beacon no doubt. Have talked to this many times
@DanTheCardMan2 there are enough domino's laid out to reenact the scene from V for Vendetta...it's just what finger flick will start it
Zero chance of regulation after Supreme Court decision..and the guys wearing a mask, gimme a break.
Someone said he wears it on purpose so people grill him in the comments lol.
@@DanTheCardMan2 only way to regulate this hobby is to eliminate cash…
If the hobby continues to use the term "Investment" and OEM of sport cards doing whatever they want with price gouging, I would not be surprised it government regulation comes very soon.
I feel the same way tbh
Reading these comments make me laugh....did you watch the video? Its in a casino. Everyone there is behind being in a casino. Those fancy lights are in the casino and not your house for a reason. House always wins in the end. Some may win, most will lose.
That was my point though. This is where it should be but will the unwanted eyes now look at the casino broadcasted live to your bedroom
Everyone talks about regulations, but what real regulation are you speaking of. Where you can gamble, how you can gamble is really just a fancy term of tax. Fraud is fraud, doesnt matter if you are talking about sports cards, or any other widget.
The more the idiots advertise the gambling aspects the bigger the chance they’ll be regulation in the future. They should have kept all this nonsense underground. Remember a shout out of a card cleaning cleaning company at PSA headquarters, similar scenario.
right what ever happened to the wemby card did they pull it off registry no i dnt think so psa is a fraud untill some one confronts them on issues they will do as they please i would like this guy to go to national card show and confront them on it make a vid protect the hobby and expose the bullshit that is goin on before the downfall
I don't see any difference between buying a pack in the store or through a break its all a gamble and the same exact thing no guarantees on any box or pack I strongly disagree with most of your statements. Repacks are a waste. I will agree with that, and that machine is a waste, but people love the thrill of gambling
I have explained this in other videos but it comes down to the nature of sale.
Lot's of research papers out there that highlight the increased risk of online gambling vs in-person gambling. Many breakers these days run dodgy operations and do very little to protect their customers from themselves. You can they don't have that obligation but the law around licensed gambling says otherwise and online breaking is gambling imo. Happy to agree to disagree though.
@DanTheCardMan2 yes id personally never offer s break or buy into one and I also think box of cards at stores that say on average one auto every two boxes and so on is a scam I think it all has flaws that are similar to each other
Wh@t's with dude's face diaper?
Someone said in the comments that he does it on purpose to get people to comment lol
Get Dan a role in the Biden administration, he is obsessed with more regulation
I need to find an American wife first to get citizenship
